Don’t agree with OP but surely the plan should have been stability. Not sacking RH in the summer and not signing a striker, replacing Romeu, and signing and inexperienced GK has been by far the glaring mistakes.

I would usually defend a manager but it’s very hard to after that showing. Tactically that was dreadful. Never seemed able to change the clear errors shown on the pitch. What is mental (!) is that we did not replace RH in the summer?!

Caicedo (Brighton) was a prime example of what we lack in midfield. Athletic, strong and box to box. He totally controlled midfield today. CDM is arguably number 1 position to sign. Then striker, goalkeeper and winger. All players we had a whole summer to acquire ffs.

Wow that was horrible. What concerns me is how devoid of tactics NJ displayed. First half Brighton welcomed the press before switching it wide or passing through our powder puff midfield. We were calling for a more compact midfield all game. Diallo should never play in a Saint shirt game - truly awful player. Surely the game plan should have been to keep things tight and in the balance before growing into the game. That was an absolute disaster game that has lost all the fans and sapped any inch of confidence. Fuck me time for a brandy. Merry Christmas.

I think as fans we have been extremely patient. The spark has gone, the atmosphere is flat and it’s reflecting massively on the pitch. It’s been like this for 6 months now. Added with numerous reports to of player unrest. A change should have been made in May. We’ve had some real highs with Ralph and some massive lows. The longer this continues then those highs will be long forgotten sadly. There are plenty of decent managers out there who would be desperate to manage in the Premier League. I like Blackmore. He’s a good pundit but I would love to ask him whether he thinks Ralph will still be manager by the end of this season. I think 99.9% would say no.

What a car crash. He should have gone at the end of the summer. The fans all wanted him out and clearly the players did too. No we’ll no doubt be getting a new manager in as the window comes to a close. Not to mention players will be hesitant to come to an unsettled dressing room. Shambolic.

With Lavia and Aribo that would take our spending to around 45m only a month into the window and with no sales. I’d say that is pretty positive.

Defensively we need a reshape. Our best period of defensive stability in the new PL era was when we had Fonte, Wanyama/Romeu and Schneiderlin. As well as Boruc/in form Forster in goal. Having one CDM has been a problem for ages. I’d start building from the back and get; one experienced and proven CB, another experienced and proven CDM. 100% a new goalkeeper. Oh and another CB to replace Bednarek who looks like he wants out. Attacking wise we need a new number 10/winger to replace the dross we have in those positions (S Armstrong aside). I’d have a pop at signing Dwight McNeil. Finally a striker to replace Broja. So that’s 5 players and then add some young talent as per the model (in attacking positions). Get rid of: Long, Stephens, Walcott, Djenepo, Bednarek, Mo Ely & Redmond. Give A Armstrong and Tella one more season.

I mean I laughed when West Ham gave Moyes the job and look at them. Same ilk of manager as Dyche. Can’t say I’d desperately want to employ a manager such as Dyche. I’m just so sick of being rolled over so easily most weeks. Defensively we’ve been shocking ever since Fonte left.

I could genuinely give Dyche a go. Make us defend ugly and hard to beat. We need to build from the back. Think he has a point to prove with more resources/better players (if the new owners truly back us in the window).
