Sacking our Martin now would be like Palace sacking theirs. A complete overreaction and far too early in the season. Expectations need to be managed. Win next week and we’ll likely be out the bottom 3. If the players were clearly not playing for the manager like we saw in the last PL campaign then I would agree but that isn’t what is happening. This team looks far more capable of that previous team.

Far too early to be sacking managers. Think some people need to check their expectations, this was always going to be a hard season and a relegation battle.

First 30 minutes we were the better side. Then we miss a stupid penalty. The goals were crap and Stephen’s at fault for both. Disappointed at the fight back, we never really did anything of note at 2-0 down. There is enough in this team to stay up. Definitely too early to call for Martin’s head. We all knew it would be a relegation battle.

Interesting test this. Playing them when they’re under immense pressure. International break will have suited both teams. Any ideas if Hojlund will be back for them? It will be interesting to see what Martin does in our first big 6 game. Will be difficult to win the possession battle.

Simply don’t agree that it is a championship squad. Granted there are shortfalls in the final third but it is certainly not a championship squad.

He was possibly the best player on the pitch when he came on. Definitely has that Bale and Walcott level of promise. And so far doing it in the Premier League. Get him on a decent contract asap.

Seems I’m in the minority but I still back Martin. He’s adapted before and likely to do so again. The decision making from our defence has been poor. There is brave and then there is just stupid. That needs to change and if it does I think we have the talent in this squad to try and stay up. If it doesn’t then of course a new manager will be found. The defence needs to take some responsibility for the piss poor goals today.

Fuck me the first two goals were pure footballing suicide. Every PL team can play out from the back and there is no reason we cannot but when don’t try clever things one twos in your defensive third ffs. That second goal killed us when we were growing back into the game. Armstrong’s miss was a shocker and the subs showed they are miles better than the players they replaced. BBD buffs and puffs but is poor on the left. Cornet should immediately replace him. The new signings + Dibling need to be in team (minus BBD). Armstrong, Stephens and Smallbone need to be benched.

Well hard to complain this window. Strengthened in most areas minus a CF but Archer could play that role. Our midfield is as stone (on paper) as I can remember.

Bumping threads tonight. Gotta say he never gave the ball away, communicated with the youngsters well, sat deep when Wood was struggling. Obviously has positive influence behind the scenes and wants to do his coaching. Keep him fit and he’ll be a key figure in staying up this year.

Thought he was brilliant tonight. Reminds me of a younger Saka. Looks very settled playing Russ ball. Deserves his own thread. What we nicknaming him?

This lad is going to be great. Looks a natural number 10.

Pros:- Fernandes was best player on the pitch. Box to box and caused all sort of problems. Dibling and Sam AA are the best youngsters we’ve had since JWP. Both were brilliant. Grealish and Saka vibes. Lallana never gave the ball away once and was constantly communicating with his teammates. Five 10/10 goals! Cons:- Edwards and Wood struggled Lumley dreadful Second half lacked a goal threat. Edozie is still poor. Remembering this was a reserve championship outfit.

Changes have made this go flat. Gone back to having zero threat since Fernandes went off.

Probably our 3rd choice back line.

Am I the only one buzzing to see Lallana back in a Saints shirt? Albeit a horrendous pink kit.

Sam AA and Dibling have got the most potential I’ve seen since JWP. Dibling like a young Grealish and Sam AA (have we got a nickname for him yet?) like young Saka.

Tippy tappy football can be successful and I see no reason why that style can’t keep us up. But no CF and the lack of players getting in the box won’t get you anywhere. We certainly need to mix things up a bit. RM needs to be adaptable. Like Liverpool away in the cup we played well and created chances. This team can’t have both Armstrong and Diaz. One needs to make way for a winger.

Team looks like we didn’t need both Archer or Diaz. Really liking a winger. Elanga showed us exactly what we were lacking. Edozie is nowhere near good enough at this level. Still need a CF. Think I’d take Ings on loan now after that.

Couldn’t care less how he left (move on ffs!). He’s a leader, experienced and wants to do his coaching. Smart signing. Welcome back Adam.

We’ll a chance in the play offs. If it fails miserably we’ll have a new manager. If we go up I think within 10 games in the PL Martin will get found out and we get a new manager in. Brutal but what I think would genuinely happen. I like Martin, he’s been by far our best manager for a few years and we have an identity (of which we’ve lacked for ages) but I think his Achilles heel is defensively and coming up with a plan B, that’s why I think his days might be numbered. Don’t know he deserves as much stick as some give though. It’s been a mental season.

Tbh Leeds are just as bad.

Should have been 3 nil up minimum first half. Adams and Brooks with inexcusable misses. Can’t blame the manager for that. The subs have been poor. Needed to regain shape and patience.

Absolutely ruthless today. Second goal one of the best we’ve scored this season. What a time to be finding some form. Believe!
