Reverse psychology thread..... Let’s be honest we hit the glass ceiling (8th, 7th, 6th and 8th with Europe) but horribly ruined ourselves - thank you Ralph and Les. I know it’s been so long since beating a top 6 team (Heinsburg can quote the days) but the limelight of winning those games was always great. Top half finishes were great. Bringing high press football to the PL with Pochettino was great. Seeing our league one players perform so well - playing under with absolute unity. Bringing through Shaw and JWP. To this day though the promotion seasons too anything we did in the PL. Don’t get me wrong I desperately want to stay up but these last two seasons we’ve lost our identity, if the owners are willing to back us maybe a good season in the Championship (even 1-3 to get back up) won’t be too bad. There’s a lot not to miss about the PL - prove me wrong. Anyway it’s not over until the fat lady sings *cuts to Kat signing we did it our way And the FA cup.

We’ll need to assert ourselves as the biggest promotion canditates by signing a talisman and proven goal scorer of the Championship and an/assist attacking player. Rely on Long and it’ll be 2006 all over. This will truly show the position of the new owners. Not over till it’s over though.

Can see the logic in that after the game, 3/5 at the back and hit them on the break. Is that not the weakest Arsenal team you’ve seen for donkey’s?!
-
Thanks for the summary. Interesting the comments on intensity of training. Buzzing for the Wigan game now!
-
Either of those. Surely with a winnable quarter final we’ll have someone in place in the next 72 hours.
-
Should fans be calling supporters meetings to plan protests now?

I’d sanction banners but fingers crossed enough is enough and Coco will be told to f*ck off. -
With a new manager. New formation (3-5-2 / 4-4-2) and attacking intent. West Ham are also in a shambles with pitch invasions and all sorts going on. 3 weeks (+ Wigan quarter final) to prepare for this.
-
Well surely this clown is going now. Tactically awful yet again. Any manager in place in the next 3-4 days. Even that may be too late but with Coco we are finished.

It’s a squad that should not be in the mess it’s in - you can blame the manager for that. We severely lack pace in the side to suit playing with one up front. We also lack a commanding CB - seen us bullied too many times this season. The midfield also does not offer enough driving forward and making dangerous passes (look at an fit Wilshere) and through balls. Depending on which league we are in we should be looking at a commanding CB, pacey winger and a creative midfielder, bring back Gallagher and consider signing another CF and GK. Oh and a new manager willing to play a high tempo/press. Sell Long, Gabbiadini, Davis, Forster and Boufal for those replacements.
-
Totally agree with this. I was one of Boufal's biggest fans, pleading for more time when others had lost patience with him, but frankly he's shown this season he has no end product and is not good enough to be a top premier league performer.
-
Burnley were utter cr@p when we played them at SMS and that was during their good run. The haven’t won in something like 11 league games so we must attack them from the get go and play with high intensity - all things we know this manager will not do. Redmond should start on the right instead of JWP and put Tadic on the left. I’d move Lemina forward and sit Hojberg with Romeu who will need to help with the CBs their aerial duels with Vokes and Barnes.
-
We definitely need to reintegrate Redmond into the team. He actually does have pace but clearly lacking in confidence this season to take on and make runs/dribbles. He was one of our best players last season. The team has zero pace aside from the fullbacks and the ever so inconsistent Boufal. We need pace around Carrillo to utilise his strengths. Does he have 3 assists this season?
-
Sack him now and bring Silva in. Worst manger in Saints history.
-
Is free with the above, we are unlikely to get half a usual attendance - however can we think of a collective song plus banner to sing to catch the masses watching on TV. Stoke did it and it was picked up on MOTD before Hughes was sacked. For some reason us Saints fans get the odd “disgruntled fans” mark in the press match reviews - it’s hits us much more than that and we need to show it. Again chant and banner ideas (other than booing and “your get sacked in the morning).
-
Absolute joke - again sitting on a lead. Almost impressive how consistently inept this manager is in winning positions. Feels too late to replace. Look at West Ham and Palace. Disgrace from the club.
-
Probably already too late, next game, home against Spurs on TV. As Guan said previously we need to be more nasty. Let’s do our utmost to force the Chinese owners to get rid of MP and clearly let the general public and media know of our opinion of this Buffon. As we stand this clueless bloke is going to take us down - we’ve been there before and know how difficult it is to come back up. So what are we gunna do?!!! Ideas for songs and banners please!!!!
-
Booing your own players is plain and simply idiotic - never understood it and never will.
-
Anyone else feel the players just have up on the manager from 4-0 down? Like knowing someone new was watching.
-
When we had Lambert and then Pelle we had a player who could allow the ball to stick in the final third. Not just by winning headers but dropping deep, linking play for others to get into advanced attacking areas. Not to mention an ability to score a header. Gabbiadini is naturally not able to do this. Austin and Long, well let’s be frank they are pony at this level. Any manager (and for the record Pellegrino should go) will struggle with a lack of our striking options. It’s criminal that the club let two strikers leave and didn’t spend some money on a true number 9. We had the same issue last season. January we absolutely must bring in a centre forward. Not Theo Walcott but a number 9. For now we should be playing someone alongside Gabbiadini.
-
They way he always is looking forward - be it with a pass or driving run. We haven't had a player like this and in the second half his ability gave confidence to the rest of the team going forward. This lad is a one of the signings of the summer. Now if we can add some spice to the front 4 with a new player of similar quality we'll be a real threat.
-
How's it go? And yeah what a performance. Reminds me of a Fernandinho style midfielder - box to box, skilful, strong and makes inceptions and simple/long distant passes.
-
Hoedt reminds me very of a Toby A style midfielder. And Lemina is looking incredible so far. Just disappointed we didn't get another attaching option.
-
This so much better. Davis given more license is for more effective in our final third play. Great start - can sense the Palace nerves. Go for the kill!
