Probably already too late, next game, home against Spurs on TV. As Guan said previously we need to be more nasty. Let’s do our utmost to force the Chinese owners to get rid of MP and clearly let the general public and media know of our opinion of this Buffon. As we stand this clueless bloke is going to take us down - we’ve been there before and know how difficult it is to come back up. So what are we gunna do?!!! Ideas for songs and banners please!!!!

Booing your own players is plain and simply idiotic - never understood it and never will.
-
Anyone else feel the players just have up on the manager from 4-0 down? Like knowing someone new was watching.
-
When we had Lambert and then Pelle we had a player who could allow the ball to stick in the final third. Not just by winning headers but dropping deep, linking play for others to get into advanced attacking areas. Not to mention an ability to score a header. Gabbiadini is naturally not able to do this. Austin and Long, well let’s be frank they are pony at this level. Any manager (and for the record Pellegrino should go) will struggle with a lack of our striking options. It’s criminal that the club let two strikers leave and didn’t spend some money on a true number 9. We had the same issue last season. January we absolutely must bring in a centre forward. Not Theo Walcott but a number 9. For now we should be playing someone alongside Gabbiadini.

They way he always is looking forward - be it with a pass or driving run. We haven't had a player like this and in the second half his ability gave confidence to the rest of the team going forward. This lad is a one of the signings of the summer. Now if we can add some spice to the front 4 with a new player of similar quality we'll be a real threat.

How's it go? And yeah what a performance. Reminds me of a Fernandinho style midfielder - box to box, skilful, strong and makes inceptions and simple/long distant passes.
-
Hoedt reminds me very of a Toby A style midfielder. And Lemina is looking incredible so far. Just disappointed we didn't get another attaching option.
-
This so much better. Davis given more license is for more effective in our final third play. Great start - can sense the Palace nerves. Go for the kill!
-
Agreed yet he has the only open play assist this season for Saints. We lack creativity desperately. Am I right in thinking we still have the number 9 shirt available?
-
So we have a DM and CB like you say - good business on paper which improves weak areas in the starting 11 We need an attacking player with the vision for an assist and ability to score a goal - not cheap mind.

This. Give me Pellegrino over Puel all day long. Barring this game we've played a much more high tempo game which is more attractive to watch (unlike anything last season). Sh*t result tonight and a poor performance but we'll move on. Chat of relegation battles is madness.
-
Well onto Huddersfield it is. Still got the FA cup. We have a decent starting 11(barring a new attacking option) but the back up players are not great.

Any other streams?

Liverpool's approach has been disgusting and I wish Saints pushed the tapping up further other than receiving a meaningless apology. Any longer and they'll be digging up Shankly to quote in the Mirror how Virgil should join them. Over to them to pay the fee we want. Get it done and invest every penny into the squad.
-
West Ham being linked with a £15m bid for Andre Gray (don't they get linked with every striker?). Last year of his contract. Maybe we could use the JRod money to make a bid? That would be good business. Suppose depends on how we plan to to integrate Gallagher into the squad.

Absolutely love the home kit. Stunning.
-
West Ham will be converted to a home game then - like Liverpool playing theirs away last year. Nice start. Awful awful winter fixtures keeping in line with Saints tradition!
-
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Schmidt_(football_manager) He's available. Weren't we previously linked? Any Bundesliga fans enlighten me to his style. Would love a pressing style manager - I see that as the Southampton way. We introduced it to the Premierleague under Poch. Must say I've grown skeptical about Silva. Not finished with Hull particularly well.

They pile up so these stats.

We've scored 17 goals in 19 home games. Three of those games we scored 3 goals (Leceister, Palace and Burnley). That means in 16 home games we've scored 8 goals!!!!! That is so bad it's impressive! Puel tactics are the main problem, one pace football like watching England play. Secondly we have only scored a total of 6 goals from midfield (inc. Davis 0, Clasie 1, Romeu 1, Ward-Prowse 4 and Hoijbjerg 0). Thirdly our top goal scorer is Redmond with 7 goals followed by Austin with 6 goals (granted in half a season). New manager asap. Get a goal scoring midfielder - break the bank to do so, someone who can also muster some assists. I've renewed my season ticket but the thought of another season under Puel is awful. Les Reed you have your work cut out this summer.

Sam Gallagher - Joins Blackburn: Official
Wiggles31 replied to Sergei Gotsmanov's topic in The Saints
Met Sam outside the Saints Bar before the game last night. Very pleasant lad. Didn't ask anything instrusive but he did say he was unsure of plans for next season. He thoroughly enjoyed his time at Blackburn and found it a great experience. Was disappointed for his teammates and more so the fans from the relegation. Came across very grounded and happy to engage in a conversation. -
We've been so poor today. Given them too much respect. Missed Romeu hugely today. Weak in midfield. And Boufal is terrible. Get rid.

Heartbreaking way to lose the game having been the best side throughout. Have to be incredibly proud of the performance from the team. Fans were fantastic, really generated a great atmosphere. This is a new era of Southampton FC. We have been in the quarters the last two years and now reached a final. I think we will have some more similar outings in the years to come. Great time to be Saints fan. What a gem we have found in Gabbiadini. The lad is a joy to watch off the ball with his clever movement.
-
Reckon it will be the same team. Would personally drop Forster. Fancy us taking out our anger/frustration on Watford. 2-0 win for me Gabbiadini and Redmond.
-
Fantastic performance. Gabbiadini looks some player - his intelligent movement is what we've been screaming for! Tadic was sensational. Played a much more free role and linked lots of attacking play.
