Don't disagree with that. I think we have a lot of fans that think we'll go down, land on our feet, and then get promoted as champions etc. Its not happening sadly.
-
Tadic has been trying and is actually a good player if he is allowed to attack. PEH, JWP, Bedanek, Long are all decent players. And Davis tries but is past his peak now. We've just had a ****e manager and a ****e board for two seasons and it has killed the team. Its too easy to criticise all our attacking players when in reality the tactics since Koeman have been shockingly defensive. Listened to the end of it now. They are not pulling their punches. Blame well and trully laid on Leslie 'fat balding T-stain' Reed.... and all openly saying he needs to go now and his replacement needs to be sorted out or its another summer of drift.

I think you are also guilty of rewriting the past a bit as well Clarke! We were in the relegation zone when he joined us, and whilst some of those players were Championship level, a lot were not as well. He was also on course for a decent finish in the prem given he had a largely championship level squad in his first season back up. Whilst getting rid of him for Poch was a great decision by NC from a performance perspective. It was also incredibly harsh on Nigel. It definitely hamstrung his career and stopped him reaching a higher level that he certainly looked to be capable of. After than he has taken on poor job choices at Reading and Sheffield and his career hasn't really recovered. I think if he came back to saints then the vast majority of the fanbase would support him. Whether he would be the best man for the job is up for debate. He would bond the players together as a team, and with the fans on his side I think that would give us a lot of momentum. Unfortunately i think he is a manager that needs to build from a low point, rather than arresting someone else's slide and achieve a good finish. I personally think Hughes is doing a decent job with a very damaged and limited squad. It is not his fault that his best offensive players are Shane Long and Tadic, nor that his best defenders are two youngsters and Yoshi. That is no slight on those players. But when you consider we have had players like VVD and Mane it is shocking to think we have this team currently. It is shame that he has not had more time as I think he would have kept us up if appointed earlier in the season. But again, not to bore everyone to death, but Les Reed will been worse for saints than Lowe if we go down.

Been calling for it for years. But Les needs to go now before the end of the season. His position is utterly untenable and the club should be restructuring now! Regardless of what division we are in.

Beat Cherries and we'll stay up. Have faith!

Get a grip mate, jesus.

Do we really need another Les Reed out thread? Yes.

Be honest guys. If we had attacked that Leicester set up with our players we would have lost. You know it, and Hughes Knows it. He took the point. Maybe it will be crucial. Maybe it won't. But it is not Hughes' fault that we had to beat a Leicester side with 5 games to go. A side that are perfectly set up to hit on the counter (possibly the best in the league for this), and with a team that can't defend for toffee.... The point was a good one. We have Bournemouth, Swansea, Everton and City to go. Get 3 wins. Or hell, even 7 points might do us.
-
Personally think he knew that if we attacked we would lose. And he'd rather take the point tonight. Think he has been good so far, and streets better than either Puel or Pelle

Not losing and playing alright. With a hit of luck (for once) we'll win this. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

Everyone be happy. We're going to win tonight!

(If we go down) what will you miss about the Premierleague?

Lets be honest, you know damn well we are in the same relative league as Rochdale, as City are to us. This is a case of fans assuming we can go down and be the big fish in a small pond. Doesn't always work out. And in fact, for the majority of our time in league 1 and the championship we weren't. We've actually been more successful in the prem this time around that the time between premier league football in the lower divisions. Going down does not equate to great times. Often it equates to years of utter dross followed by a couple of seasons of going up the leagues (if you are lucky). Just look at Leeds, Coventry, Sheffield United, Charlton, Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday... amongst others. -
I'd like to see us keep Bertrand and Target and make them both work in the same team. But if that doesnt happen and we are going down then simply put we need to strim our costs. If Ryan wants to leave and Matty wants to play for us then that would be making the best of that situation. Also, glad to see I've been consistent in my views over the last 2.5years

Its so selective. From my memory, the only truly good season in the championship was the last one... The rest were pretty dire. Even the ones chasing promotion weren't that great. The others were terrible and far worse than this season. -

I wasn't saying you did. But, now you've said that.... within the last 76 premier league matches you'll find Koeman -

Yes, i understand the opposite mentality. But ultimately it is one of thinking we can't hack it at the top level, so rather than try we'd rather be a big fish in a small pond... its fun for a while, but ultimately demeaning and pointless. Better to compete at the best level we can. Always. And anyway, we may yet survive! I think we'll know if there is a chance after Leicester and this weekend. -

Personally I wouldn't put League 1 and Championship over our poch and koeman seasons. For me the first game back against city was incredibly special, as were the 8-0 and 6-1 games, wins at old trafford and anfield, as well as watching players like Mane in a saints shirt. Can't think of a lower league game that comes close. But to each his own. Although i do have a soft spot for the 2-2 Norwich cup game with Papa -

Being able to watch some of the best saints football in decades, and against some of the best players in the world.... But why would we want to see that as fans when we could be scrapping in the lower leagues like the good ol days... At least we can win some games right? Even if they mean less than f'all. -
get some faith guys!! We can do this. Although a loss to Leicester will look very bleak!!
-
Absolute minimum now is 3wins from the 5 games. Leicester - Possible Everton - Possible but very unlikely imo. Always a bogey side for us. Bournemouth - Never try and call a derby. Swansea - Tough and could well be the deciding game. Man City - I honestly think that if we need to win this we will. In all likelihood, fail to beat Leicester and we could be down physiologically.
-
Yeah, but with his ego and the way he was forced out, you know he'd come back just to show what a pair of idiots Les and KL are....
-
He should be gone now. He needs to have no role in future planning or succession, and he should not be drawing a wage for the remainder of this season. I really hope we don't get relegated and then have to pay him off, that would be the ultimate insult to cap of his disastrous time in charge.

Ryan Bertrand - not fit to be captain, a disgrace
Saint86 replied to davefoggy's topic in The Saints
Yes but certain fans on here will blame Ryan for being an average captain, rather than let any blame be levelled at those that have weakened the teamsheet to line pockets.
