  1. I assume you are of course aware that any sweeper plays behind the defense. You are referring to the role of a holding man in midfield? I would use Morgan or cork for this with the other roaming from deep and Davis as AMC. Richardson plays whenever shaw/clyne are unavailable... Fox is my 4th choice
  2. In fairness, Penny is saying that the trust should raise more money by themselves. (according to the quotes you supply) Mike Hancock is saying that the trust should be given the loan? Whilst stating that local hospitals need money.. Or have I totally mis read your quites, if so I apoligie
  3. Can Believe the flack that Dalek is getting on this thread. His original comment makes sense. Newcastle are a dangerous and much improved side who are/have turned the corner. People are very Naive if they think one win (granted impressive) against city, means we can stroll up to SJP and waltz off with a win. I assume City and United thought that against us, and we almost got 4 to 6 points from those to games.... As for saints, i said at the start of the season we will finish anywhere between 10-15th... expecting the higher margin. Looks like I was spot on as I was last year when I said we would go up automatic... Yet I get knocked for being a dreamer. People really need to stop going off on one over what a harmless comments. This saints side have the potential to be great. It has been obvious for 2 years now to be honest. But people seem to lack the ******** to believe in NC, believe in the young blood like lallana, cork, morgon etc. I mean for gods sake, we just dismantled city with a league 1/championship team. But there is still a lot of work to be done and we will lose a fair few games before we get there.
  4. Anyone with half a brain will look at that and laugh. Anyone with a whole brain will laugh at the kind of ****e you can almost argue with statistics. The rest of us will just laugh at you putting forward a crap quantiative reason after slamming frank's version which make more sense and actually work when you analyse statistics. Also, you have been very hypocritical quoting 95% as "need to expand" but slamming our own attendances which are largely the same.
  5. I find the idea of not taking Cortese at his word laughable. I find the idea that you think the opposite about him is even more laughable.
  6. Another point, NC said recently that he is looking to take ideas from successful european systems on an ongoing basis. And looking at what doesnt work. Well.. These cheap ass tickets work in Germany, and if we built and could fill this beast. Wow, my mouth is watering now. Time to come back to the cold ruthless business NC that I have in my mind
  7. Well, it would mean we really do have money to burn, we'd increase the fanbase thats for sure, and we'd sell alot more merchandising. Also, imagine the position it would put us in for attracting other fans in the uk vs the other "expensive clubs" - we can dream On a serious note, I've been loving how NC has allready reduced ticket prices so far despite spending record somes of money on new players!!! On a dreaming note. It is possible, that say - double the size of the ground, knock tickets down to £20 quid, and season tickets down to £350 that you'd fill that beast given time and good football. (Relies on us actually having the capital to fund it.) Would certainly increase the fanbase over the years, and increased merchandising sales and stature would pay for the beast over time. If we have the money, (considering investment in facilites doesn't count against ffp) then, well, stranger things have happened - I.e. Man city being the worlds richest club, spending 1 billion in 4 years, and still can't get through the group stage of champions league In comparison to that, I'll have a 59k stadium for 50million thank you very much!
  8. Watch the highlights of Chelsea away. Although these guys are playing well, it is not down to the Military Police. They (especially Morgan) were allover the pitch at stamford bridge and even in earlier games.
  9. Really... its about the one thing that is obvious is that he took the plunge at the best time to sack him. He let Nigel stabilize us, then got the new guy in when we could have a break abroad with the option for possible transfers at the end of the window. He said it himself. This guy is here to take us on to the next level and its fair evident what that means with the style of play vs Man Utd and Everton and the fact that we outplayed United for the 45min we bothered to turn up for. Its also nice to have a manager who knows how to make a decent substitution. Been a while. But at no point has anyone associated with the club said "we are bringing in MP to attract and sign global football stars". Stop knocking the club with every single post. There are enough people to do that without you adding to it. Or if you are going to, at least base it on some bloody evidence. Otherwise you are on the slippery slopes of an Alpine region. As for transfers, people in this thread have been saying that we are not better than Wigan, reading, qpr, villa etc etc. Well correct me if I am wrong, But we are a newly promoted side who has one 5 out of 6 matches vs our direct rivals. Now if we had lost 5/6 matches, we would clearly be worse than them (and 15points worse off). So how people can argue the opposite is beyond me, especially when you consider our start and the improvement in form and defense over the last set of matches. I think the question should be, if people are unhappy with the team, who would you switch with in the bottom 5 clubs?
  10. This is a shambles. United aren't even trying. Both goals from the left... Fed sum1 teamkill fox. Be a benefit. Why the **** is Shaw dropped. Puncheon no service. At the moment mp out
  11. In support of your comment, and against Barry Sanchez... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_football_clubs_in_England_by_major_honours_won Pretty interesting read. For example, Man city are 8th with... wait for it.... 3 league titles - the last of which came after a 40year barren and unsuccessful spell. Aston Villa - 7 leagues and 7 FA cups/5 LC. - I don't personally think they are that much bigger than saints, and certainly won't be bigger than us when we are established in the premier. Leeds United (A famed big club) - 3 leagues, 2 cups - last won the league in 1992. Liverpool are also on the way down, approximately 2 decades since they last won a league (excluding CL). I think this all goes to show that fluctuation does happen, and to dismiss our chances on the basis that we have been unsuccessful and therefore will never be successful is ********. Villa are down the pan - 4th most successful English club whose last trophy was the LC in 1992.... and Man City were a saints level club prior to being taken over by wealth backers... a club who had just got promoted a few years earlier from League 1? Also if you knock off Chelseas recent league and FA Cups wins..... where exactly would they be in the table? In short, I agree with Adrian; Barry's comment means little and if anything it supports the idea that change does happen.
  12. Wes you have really missed an understanding of FFP. It doesn't/won't "level the playing field"... it fixes it in its current form. We are in a very good position going into this, if you compare us to stoke (who spend a fortune most seasons - net spend) we have a good youth setup that can take some of the load. This is good for us vs a lot of the premier teams. But we are getting some financial doping (training ground, £39m this year on players), and we are getting it to late to circumvent FFP. Now I know FFP isn't designed to stop investment in facilities etc, but the fact remains that the money comes from wealthy backers or player transfers. Bearing in mind our wealth, and Cortese's track record... if he says we are going places then I am not going to argue. But FFP is not going to level the playing field. Big clubs would not vote for it if that was the case. Just like EPPP. Its a sham to keep those at the top.. at the top.
  13. Quite often to be honest, how long was di mateo an "interim coach" again?
  14. I have been to meet players and people have said: 'Oh, you have spoken to the agent? Well I am the only person who can deal with the club.' C**t flaps - Oh are you? OK, fine. Then someone else says: 'He's not the person you should be dealing with, you should be dealing with me.' Is this harry admitting to tapping players up before he has spoken to the clubs? Because surely if the clubs have given him permission to talk to the players... they would put him in contact?
  15. I'm sorry but leeds are no longer in the realms of being automatically be assumed to be bigger than us. For my entire life football supporting life they have been a nothing club, who have one nothing, and just harp on about their old successes. Even in League 1 and the championship they were wary of us. They are on a par or below us on the football pyramid now. And with the way things are going, they will continue to stay there. If a clubs size could be gauged by how much the fans go on about how great they are, the skates would be bigger than Manchester united.
  16. Do you remember the woman who went into labour whilst queuing for to keys. The don gave the new born a free season ticket for life... He can't be all bad can he.
  17. in line with "Ausie Ausie Ausie.. Oi Oi Oi" Morgan Morgan Morgan.... Schneid-er-lin!!!
  18. Tripping you up... its morgan schneiderlin Failing to Score...its morgan schneiderlin Glory Glory... Morgan schneiderlin he fecks your midfield.. UP UP UP!! etc
  19. Glory Glory Morgan Schniderlin - or derivative therefore of. E.g. F.uc.king you up... Its morgan schneiderlin
  20. Not really Phil, this has been coming for a while. The dell sized dinosaurs on this site are soon to be extinct. Cortese has said from day one where we are going. People don't like him so they knock him, people don't like change so they stick their fingers in the ear and laugh at the rest of us, whilst all the time they have been making fools of themselves. I may not like NC, (not right now at least) but I won't be questioning his decision making unless the military police get us relegated. We survive this period of upheval and we are on our way imho. Don't think there can to much left to argue about. Best youth set up in england. Stealing 2 players (possibly 3) from Liverpool in a season. Getting a manager recommended to us by "the special one" Shaw, JWP et al This is our chance, if we don't feck it up then we will be a top english club for years to come. Now I am going to go an question whether that is what I want, or whether I liked "the Adkins way" Because cold calculating scicillian bankers and global plastic fans is not what I associate with Saints. So if this is to happen, then we need to find a way, as a club or a fanbase, to keep the fans the same.
  21. Get out!
  22. Ffs... Just put alpine on ignore. He talks crap. As for game. Liked us pressing more. Thought Everton were just a good west ham tbh. Like our pressing... But I just don't think we can do that for a full 90 game in, game out. We are a fit squad, but a small one. Boric is looking good. As is yoshi and his. Cork and morgan looking better than better. Personal note... Missed Nige and November looks good.
  23. Considering home is Argentina (and not the Falklands), and that he has played the top level in France... I doubt he is homesick. He probably just doesn't like the snow!
  24. I remember sturrock being ****.
  25. Today has been the worst day in my Saints supporting life.... I started following the club in 94 season aged 8, and have not looked back. For me, Nigel was to be my generations Lawrie Mac... All he needed was a cup win and a European player of the year.... And now he is gone, after moulding this team to the premier league and finally making us look like something of a force to be reckoned with. People say he had reached his level, but that is clearly ******** since all you have to do is compare our defence now to our defence at the start to see how he had improved. ************************** To say I am gutted would be an understatement, I am glad and sad that Nigel got to leave on a high.. that is the only good I see in it for him, he came, he conquered and he improved his prestige no end. But we will not have manager so loved by us all for a while. ******************************* Vs Everton it is important to get behind the team! We can't do a chelsea or even a wolves. we can not afford it. I hope to God that somewhere the ruthless Nicola knows what the hell he is doing. But I am going to that game and I will sing "One Nigel Adkins" until I am hoarse!!! It feels like a funeral pre match to me. And I hope the players and the fans treat it as such and give a performance worth of his memory. I have a slight grudge against the new man, in that surely he knew he was doing the dirty on Nigel? But then NC was going to sack him either way and this guy just took the job. ******************************* Just watched south today, and frankly, I am heartbroken. I want a chance for the fans to tell Nigel how we feel. And I want a chance to tell Nicola how we feel.... he couldn't even have the respect to be there at the press conference.... Talk about being a s.h.i.t.
