Okay, so you'd take 3 players? Sturridge, hendo and coutinhio are injured (or have been out)... I'd take stek or forster no doubt, and virgil and Fonte. I'd also take bertrand. Then I'd have one of Mane and Tadic and keep Pelle over Benteke... Its like the Klopp mania has infested everyone... They managed 2 shots on target vs Swansea, and one was a very lucky penalty... Swansea the team being tipped for a relegation battle.. This game is there for saints to win and we should be favourites. Amazed by the negativity on this forum tbh.

People are being retards with this one. Liverpool aren't that great, people are just lapping up the pressing (just as they did with saints under poch... and we finished 8th and 7th and beat it last year)... Say what you want, but they have had a lot of matches recently, are not better than us on paper, and managed only 2 shots (1 a lucky penalty) vs a very poor swansea team. If we turn up we'll beat these. People who predict a 3-0 defeat at home are just being numpties... Every pundit has slammed there performance on the weekend. On top of that, they played Sunday afternoon and have had a very short rest. We will want to do the bounce after two negative results... Saints win!

When was the last time we scored a decisive late goal at home?
Saint86 replied to St Lej's topic in The Saints
No shurlock, what I say, is that the very best sides (i.e. fergie and the champions) have huge pressures to sneak wins and do it frequently, whilst at the same time they have teams that are desperate for a draw playing against them that give up any chance of a win and park the bus... it is a recipe for more common last minute attacks and they manage to break them down, that is why they are the top teams.... The bottom clubs frequently have to go all out attack and chase at the very end of games, they therefore have a higher probability of this occurring and those that fail go down. The you have the rest, who either don't have the quality and settle for draws more frequently (lower mid table) or have the quality and come upper half... these teams are often winning and dominating most games and therefore have less probability of being in a need to chase. Considering the way our seasons have gone (2nd championship) then fairly awful under Nigel for first part of that season but then picking up and outplaying teams, then dominating often under poch and koeman... is it hardly surprising that we fall in the bunch of teams that don't get late goals or points? We are not championship material, we lack that quality... does this surprise people? We often have often killed off games in advance, and when we don't teams are very solid at parking the bus in this league... we are not a top top team, we do not have the pressures of desperately needing the win so we rarely go hell for leather and risk letting in 1or2 at the back. The bottom clubs get outplayed, are desperate for wins, and they have to go for it, the ones that succeed stay up. Given the above, it really should not come as any surprise that we don't often score late on... that isn't the kind of team we are, and we haven't been for a few years. We outplay most teams, but we do not have world class quality that would make us genuine top 4 challengers. -

Well Shurlock, if you either learn to read (or to apply that ability).... You'll see that I also say that teams at the top win games in the last minute. But don't let that stop you making either an ass of yourself or insulting other forum members. lol -

Seriously a bit of a "state the obvious" thread/observation by its very nature , for four out the last five seasons we have been a good side that has generally outperformed most teams we have played... The comment above saying we would be joint top of the league if games ended at half time also backs this up... We are rarely the team chasing for last minute goals... ergo its hardly surprising that we don't often get one. This is especially relevant since you are all talking about long timescales and we have finished 2nd, 14th, 8th, 7th and are currently 8th.... In only one of those seasons were we poor and that was only for half the campaign. Most of the time we have been on top and are the other team are the ones chasing games. You would expect poorer teams to be often chasing games, with those that fail to get wins being relegated, and those that get the odd late win or draw sitting just above the relegation zone. Likewise, the teams at the very very top will snatch the odd victory at the end of matches. As an above average mid table club that often dominates it is less likely we will get key points late on inmho. Hence people commenting on it in this thread. -
Um, for £50m.... be mad not to sell!

To put it bluntly. We have no Pelle. They got smashed 4-1.... Ageuro is back... I think we may get smashed 4-1....

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES

You are basically arguing that we should have let JJ go... Which is utter tripe. We are at war and there will be no peace ever with the fanatics. Kill them all and stop them spreading their filth to other decent Muslims. I wonder, would you have shot Hitler or Sat around and tried to talk to him? Just like WW2 people are pussy footing around the issue, allowing the axis of evil to develop a stranglehold over a region and meaning more lives will be lost when actions finally has to be taken. The human race is cursed to always repeat the mistakes of history and this time around we have no Churchill and no Roosevelt to stand up to it. -
Just google'd - She is HOT!¬!

Well, you say that, but if we get £50m for him in Jan then it is worth more than Champions league qualification.... I'd sell in a heartbeat.

You are far more of a prat if you think you have the right to moan about people who need / chose to leave early. Its their money, and their lives. Seriously get a grip.

You seriously need to get laid.

Footballers have bad teeth and it seriously effects the way they train
Saint86 replied to Saint86's topic in The Saints
Lets be honest, if he only had four top teeth to give you then you should probably have known what you were getting into anyway? -
Should we sing it? I mean the entertainment they've given us, and the dedication they've shown over keeping it up over the years is close to that off a loved one I feel.... Wait does that mean we have another set of closet admirers down the leagues?

Article on the BBC stating that we took part in a recent football study into footballers teeth and that it can prevent footballers training due to the pain etc... Does anyone know of any players this effects at the club? Would be interested to know if we have had any serious problems with it? Don't know if this gets checked in medicals http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-34699583 Professional footballers have worryingly poor teeth that could be affecting their performance on the pitch, say dentists. Their study on players at eight clubs in England and Wales, in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, showed nearly four out of 10 had cavities. West Ham United's medical staff said athletes often had worse teeth than the general population. Regularly consuming sugary foods is one possible explanation. The dentists, from the International Centre for Evidence-Based Oral Health at University College London, examined 187 players' sets of teeth. They found 53% had dental erosion, 45% were bothered by the state of their teeth and 7% said it affected their ability to train or play. Around 40% had tooth decay, compared with 30% of people of a similar age in the general population. Prof Ian Needleman, one of the researchers, told the BBC News website: "These are individuals who otherwise invest so much in themselves so it's a surprising finding. "There are two main groups - some have a catastrophic effect, they have very severe abscesses that stop them in their tracks and they cannot play or train. "There'll be others experiencing pain affecting sleeping or sensitivity every time they take a drink. "At this level of athlete, even small differences can be quite telling." Nutrition is one of the primary suspects with frequent consumption of sugary or acidic foods during training potentially accounting for tooth decay and erosion. A lot of air in the mouth during exercise can also dry it out so there is less protection from saliva. Prof Needleman said that while "these findings are worrying" clubs were giving dental health a "higher priority" and were educating their players. Previous research has shown "striking" levels of bad teeth in athletes competing at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The teeth of athletes at London 2012 were broadly in the same state as those of footballers. Players from Manchester United, Hull, Southampton, Swansea, West Ham, Brighton, Cardiff and Sheffield United all took part in the study. Stijn Vandenbroucke, the head of medicine and sports science at West Ham, said there were "clear preventive benefits for athletes and club". He added: "Oral health is an area where many athletes have greater problems than the general population so it has been a massive achievement for so many professional football clubs to collaborate with each other to help us understand the scale of this problem better."

Why do these w3nkers, from both sides, think it is acceptable in this day and age to go out getting smashed up and starting fights. Let alone putting someone in hospital... You wouldn't do it at home, at work or round someone else house... so why the hell do they think its okay to get smashed in a pub pre match and act like fecking cavemen, effecting innocent peoples lives, families and kids.... Makes you think we should offer their citizenship rights to a few of the poor people in the Calais jungle on a permanent basis ffs; they've had all these benefits in life, but they're still fecking morons.

As with your Aston Villa pre match comments; you are wrong. The squad is obviously stronger than last years and it is purely a question of the first 11 not being quite at the same level or fluidity as yet... This is coming however. There is a fine line between questioning the team and looking for any negative you can find to rejoice about and/or keep picking at so that you can stand up and go "look at me, I was right"... with each one of these posts/threads you make/start you are reaffirming my opinion that you are just doing the same as other negative posters on here so that you can have your "i'm right moment" just like so many broken records. The squad has undergone large changes again this year, and you forget completley that for the opening matches we didn't have 5 of last years back 6.... yet despite all that we are in 7th and have a nice run of games coming up to push higher with... The team are now starting to click, Clasie is beginning to find his feet and after Christmas/January we should have 2 top quality GK's to pick from... We haven't even dipped into playing the kiddies yet despite injuries and suspensions... In comparison we had seven u21 players playing against Everton earlier in the year. It is beyond me how you think we will need to go to those lengths again this season barring an absolutely catastrophic injury crisis. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt this time regards to the squad depth and having a moan, but honestly, of all the things this season, this is not something you should be moaning about. The win over Villa is further proof of the depth we have.

There are 2 ways to stop the opposition getting on top... Get stuck in and effectively shut them down (which turns into a scrap fest)... or get better at keeping the ball. Most games now there are periods where the oppo can't live with us. We need to get fitter, stronger and more fluid and maintain this for longer. There were games last season where the oppo didnt get shots on targets and I can see us returning to that level this season. I think we will be top 6 this year at the moment. Injuries can ofc derail that.
