If you sell to your competitors for exuberant fees then you make ground on them...They pay over the odds and you get the money to replace the sold player plus extra for developing the team. The key their is over the odds... selling to the competition for anything approaching replacement value is moronic. I.e. Sorry but he hasn't just changed mane's game in under 3 weeks, taking him from utterly useless (according to the football experts on here), to someone we can't afford to lose for a month... thats down to the player adapting (helped by the coaches ofc) but it isn't him developing any new skills. Wanyama has just improved fullstop, when he first came he couldn't pass meters accurately. Likewise I think forster has benifited from full time exposure to the england goalkeeping coach and a better level of football. Koeman keeps them calm, gives the the belief and knowledge they can succeed and uses very sound tactics... He is a great manager in this regard, but I don't think he has made any significant developments in player skill yet relative to any other manager; only in mentality (prime example being Morgan) and tactical knowledge are there real signs of his input for me. The rest will come with time and a long tenure - something he historically does not do its worth remembering. Enjoy it all while it lasts, and remember the lows to stay grounded. Champions league would be amazing and a miracle - remember that if we don't make it!

One of the worst refereeing performances we've had at SMS for many a long year. Struglling to think of a worse one tbh and hope we lodge a complaint of some kind. Happy with the team. We're clearly disjointed with the new formation but still offer a threat. Really like long for just his work rate if nothing else. Always a nuisance behind and pressing or winning headers (great jumper is long)... Good for you bud, I've heard London is a great place to live and very easy to get back to as well... I come from Bristol myself and I also stay to the end. In addition, and like most of the regular saints fans out there, I can also say I've been with the club since relegation from the prem (and long before), I've been through all the ****e and lucky enough to enjoy all the good as well such as the Norwich 2-2 penalties and Waigo's adopted child! Now... I don't leave early nor did I take offence on behalf of myself... what I don't like is people who have no consideration for their fellow saints fans and who then crawl out of the woodwork after a couple of unlucky defeats to attack our own fans, especially over something so trivial... What should politely be considered is that we have young families, elderly fans, or just your bog standard bloke in his 20-30's who rely on hourly buses or trains to get back home, or those that just have to rush off and can't afford to sit in the massive traffic to get back on the motorway... They make the effort to get into Southampton, (committing more time and money than most) but still just have to shoot off a few minutes early... it's there money and prerogative after all and is perfectly reasonable. You could for example consider the fans that arrive 5min after kick off, head down 5min early for half time, and get back to the stands after the second half kicks off for your ire? Where is your rage towards these people? Do they not also have a negative effect on the players who see them streaming for the exits after only 40min?!?!?! Simply put, it seems like we lose a few games and there are saints fans attacking other fans for any reason they see fit, rather than simply getting together behind the team and pushing them onwards. You may disagree, but if your want to come across as the guy that goes around criticising other fans for making an effort to attend a game then that's your choice... Maybe we should just ban them all from leaving before the final whistle, I'm sure the team would be equally cheered on by empty seats when they all stop attending... Or do you think we'd sell out every game and that there are legions of desperate saints fans waiting to take their places? Also, if the players are more worried about what a couple of hundred fans walking down the stairs in the 90th minute than pushing for an equaliser then there is something seriously wrong with their commitment and willingness to fight for the shirt.
