Ok so Cork and Lee will be the only players who have senior international tournament experience, does that make our new signings Rodriguez, Davis and Clyne any less of a prospect? I agree with you on the frequent pointless call ups though, I would get worried about injuries.
-
Option 6 could have stayed at the same club but the club could be a bit trigger happy with managers, so doesn't reflect badly on the player. I know it's hypothetical but sounds a bit like Joe Allen, who is the subject of a few rumours right now. Don't know why being Welsh is a bad thing though.

Reading a Gills fan @DamoJarrett ask Saints fans on twitter what they think of Forecast is quite amusing. He reckons he's heard it's £1.75m + Forecast. Or £2.5m. Which would value our Tommy at £750k!!

Every match, every goal - Promotion to Premier League 2011/12
Saint_DB replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
I like how the editor showed as little as possible of the Pompey goal at Fratton Park. -
The photo shows the Kingsland (without electronic boards) and the Northam (with electronic boards). The other photo of them installing the boards is of the Itchen. I am guessing, like a lot of clubs, that the stand from which the TV camera will point (Kingsland) will have normal non-electronic boards because they won't be seen by the TV cameras.

I agree, 5 years is probably the minimum for anything like that.

On the basis of the current squad we cannot win the league. But the current squad can do a lot towards that ambition by finishing as high as we can this season, which would in turn allow us to attract bigger players next season, and hopefully finish higher, which would attract better players and so on. You get to a stage where it's all a bit Theseus' Ship but the way I see it these players could help us win the league, after they have been replaced in the future, and the current team's contribution will be as important as the players who would eventually end up (hypothetically) winning it themselves. Not suggesting it would happen any time soon, if at all, but in the long run any club could do that with the right ambition and a willingness to spend money in the right way. I would be very happy with around 12th-13th this coming season, which with our money would give us a solid platform for developing further.

When Reading came to St Mary's they were effectively playing for the Championship title and only brought 200 more than we took to Boro. Their journey was a whole lot easier. Did Reading sell out their allocation? Incidentally on my train back to London after that game a couple of theirs were giving me (and some others) stick for being a plastic fan from London, and wouldn't listen when I said I moved there from the south in February. The irony.

And presumably another released from a juvenile correction facility, although that could be the McDonalds one.

I tried to pay using a debit card on the website, in my account there is enough for the first instalment but not enough for the whole amount, and it wouldn't let me do it so I am assuming it is only the full payment upfront on the website.
-
Yeah when I was going through the website it seemed to be only charging the renewal price for me as well, shame I couldn't capitalise! Having a right mare here, finally get through to card payment on the phone and it's declined. I then find out my bank's fraud department have blocked my card for 'suspicious activity'. Back to square one, on hold for the ticket hotline...
-
No success for me on the phone (any number), but managed to get online and add a seat to basket next to my mate (result), only to get to checkout and no instalment option available! Argh! Back to the hold music for me!

My friend and I are hoping to buy STs on Monday sitting next to each other but with separate phone calls and card details. Apprehensive to say the least!

There's two types of overspending: - Overvaluing the player - Spending beyond the club's means or budget If Saints bought Titus Bramble for £7m, this is something the club can afford but Titus Bramble is not worth £7m so we are overspending on Titus Bramble.* If Saints somehow rocked up and bought Ronaldo for 30m that would be a bargain for the player but is something the club cannot afford (and bargain wages for Ronaldo would be breaking the wage structure) and would be overspending. Any club can overspend on a player, but the bigger the club, the less likely to overspend in the latter way. *I am in no way suggesting we should or will sign Titus Bramble, I am not ITK and haven't seen him house hunting in Winchester or milling around at some hotel in Lyndhurst. He is merely the worst signing I could think of.

How Good Can Schneiderlin Get? And Who's Better: Schneiderlin or Cork?
Saint_DB replied to @BHiglett's topic in The Saints
On my FM11 game Schneiderlin was "the next Didier Deschamps" worth about £12m and regularly being called up for France by the time he was 25. -
This could be nit-picking but unless you think our main formation will be 4-5-1 there would only be 9 other positions in a starting 11 of 4-4-2. I'm all for attacking football but having 4 strikers for one position and 2 strikers for the other would be a little excessive!

@Rchap04: Just throwing it out there for all you people, we are not going to Vegas!! #wishwewere About 12pm. All the players on twitter seem to be excited about packing though, maybe they're just going on a jaunt of their own. (Not that they couldnt afford to go to Vegas if they really wanted to though, right?)

Perhaps so the Prem and NPC (inc playoffs) finish on the same weekend. I seem to remember Capello fighting for a few weeks off before the Euros.
-
Did anyone here see his audacious chip over Federici? If that went in it would have been a carbon copy of MLT v Man United, and we wouldn't be having this debate.
-
Yeah he was on my row in Itchen South. Didn't notice him celebrating, just seemed to keep his head down.
