pressing game just isn't evident today. jos + fox = accident waiting to happen. Ramirez, club record signing, more than half a season on and still has not justified the price tag.
-
on the topic of Liverpool and being linked with the same players, I see coutinho has just scored for them on his first (?) start

Players who have gone out on loan over the years

does puncheon count? -
unfortunately, after the positive news of kompany being ruled out it seems yaya toure will be back next week.. I'll go for city leading 1-0 after a lackluster first half before we play a superb second half where we 'batter' them but create only 2 chances and score none for the game to end 1-0 to city. Mancini to say we're the best team they've played away from etihad.

Wigan 2-2 SAINTS /// Post-Match Reactions
max_saints replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I think many are disappointed mostly because of the way we gave away 2 points. after a spirited comeback from 1-0 down to 2-1 up with 5 mins to go we then let a silly goal go in from a set piece. it was just such a disappointment especially after seeing how much the players wanted to get all 3 points, you could see it from the way they celebrated Morgan's goal, the spirit and determination they showed at that moment I was dead certain we would definitely stay up this season. but 5 mins later the lapse of concentration reared it's ugly head again and just like that doubt started creeping in again. and all these compounded by wins from reading and Newcastle. anyway man of the match for me was lambert, so much more than a goal scorer he was creating chances with superb vision and the way he fearlessly went for the ball for the goal, top class. jrod was equally impressive throughout the game especially the way he beat his man to run into the box for the goal, I'm starting to feel he is miles ahead in terms of value compared to Ramirez (how the fck did Ramirez miss his chance) -
terrible result, reading and villa both winning...

what has happened to ramirez.. great movement to get in behind the defenders but wtf was that shot in front of goal...

Half Saints Half Wigan scarfs? (and a bit of Man u review!!)

next season when we face each other in the championship he can bring them out again -
2nd half a lot of pressing that caused united to seem incapable of holding onto the ball and lumping it straight back at our players. have to say though, with all the possession we had in the second half we did not really create any clear cut chances nor convert any of the half chances we created, would love for a player like le fondre, saw both his strikes against Chelsea and they were superb and something we are missing up front ATM. jos may have improved past few games but unfortunately is not filling the gap left by injured fonte, he was especially at fault for the second goal allowing Rooney to come in behind him to tap in. and as many have said he is slow to turn, am hoping forren is much better and gets to play this weekend. have to admit I did not feel confident about the two subs made by MP at half time but credit to him it changed the game. great to see lallana back although lacking abit of sharpness, hoping to see him start against wigan. won't get carried away by the second half performance as it wasn't a particularly good round of games with our rivals all gaining a point on us, just have to focus on our games and look to get some results to maintain or extend our 3 point advantage on the bottom 3, do not want to see us falling back in there again!
-
double change lallana and Davis on for Ramirez and punch

have a feeling this might be like the fa cup game against Chelsea, early jrod goal then fall apart after.. fox missing already..

not in my lifetime. this would require a sustained high amount of spending every season for the next 5-10 seasons to improve our squad by two levels to actually reach 'top 4' standards and all that while we do not have the champions league income the established big teams have every season to sustain their high spendings. of course we do not know how much the liebherrs have left us, highly doubt its as much as city got to fast forward to where they are now, but i'll be happy to be proven wrong. the dream of having half the team made up of academy players AND reach the champions league? that would be the script of a hollywood sports movie.

trolling or not?
-
coutinho surely?
-
player prefers Liverpool then let him go there, no point throwing cash at him qpr style, much rather we move on from this stalemate to secure our wide option, we only have a week to go! why not look locally, there's a certain Tom ince at blackpool? or is that not glamorous for NC and his champions league dream
-
not that I'm thinking a point here is possible but going by your past few predictions, this gives me hope
-
will take the 0-0, maybe should have converted one of our chances first half but a draw was a fair result in a game of two halves really. nice to see our goalkeeping situation seems to be settled already. only worry is that our bench is rather pathetic, usual suspects who I can't see make any impact if sent on. overall a good point!
-
so, is that to MP's or the translator's credit?
-
arsenal looking poorer than we did against Chelsea tonight.. dont think Wenger would have survived under NC given the squad he has
-
so if European football is unrealistic in the near future, what then was NA sacked and MP brought in for? simply to finish the season a few places higher in 12th or 13th? that's what I don't understand about the sacking, did NC really believe we could compete for the top 4?? I find the whole thing a waste of time really seeing as we can only aim a few places higher up the table from where we are (15th atm) realistically.
-
I think some people are overreacting on how the NA sacking would affect the result of this game. like some have said, the first team selects itself and unless the new bloke decides to play Martin in CB and de ridder on the right, there shouldn't be too much of a difference in the teams performance compared to if NA was still here. these are professionals we are talking about and I do not believe they would let their concentration down due to a change in management, in fact I would expect the reverse as these players now know they must play their best to show the new guy what they can do and to remain in the starting line up. plus I've read in a manager profile of the new guy that his favored tactic was an attacking 4231 so, no different from what the players are used to. therefore like what I would have predicted before today I would see us getting a point against everton. profile: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players/manager/_/id/216/mauricio-pochettino?cc=4716

at what minute shall we do our one minute of applause for NA?

sorry the team only managed to get a draw against a bunch of nobodies (can't even rmb what they won last season, must have been a **** trophy) and not push on for all 3 points for you. we are so poor we could not even beat a team who are clearly beneath us, i mean they lost to qpr at home! i am with you in dismay and will now have 3 days of mourning after what must be one of the poorest result in Southampton FC's history. NA OUT NC OUT SUNRISE THE SAVIOR IN -
... surely deserves a thread of its own. We've already seen shaw on one of his Bale-esque runs down the flanks in the previous game against villa but this time he does one better to find puncheon who controls it ever so well and struck it so sweetly. Im still stunned by that beauty of a goal from the build up to the strike and the fact its a feckin equalizer against Chelsea away!! We can literally say, in one season alone, we have seen the kid shaw grown into possibly now one of the top 10 left backs in the league. His confidence has ballooned from being just solid in defending the ball when he first started till now bombing the opposition flanks with real intent. And as much as we moan about how much punch frustrates with the amount of time he takes on the ball, when he scores he does score some beauties... One of my favorite goals this season already..
