To all the 40% thinking already we´re going down. What did you expect from the first nine games looking at the schedule? For me it´s like this. Man C, Arsenal, Everton away are clear losses. Man U and Spurs at home, with a bit of luck perhaps we could take a point but nothing you can expect. AND if we had been a bit more lucky we would have. Wigan, Fulham, Aston Villa at home and West Ham away. From these games I would be happy as a newcomer to come away with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. From that point of view we´re actually only one win away from the predictions coming into this season. And a lot of you claiming we´re too far behind already....?? The schedule coming up is a lot better/easier and if we can get Gaston and Jack back into the team the balance will be much better...

But this cup is also very much about the draw. if you get a home game you are more likely to play with a stronger team and the big difference for me is that teams tonight have had at least 72hrs since the last game, we didn´t yesterday.
-
well for me this is all about priorities.....but if you think we should play players that did play 48hrs ago and increase risk of getting them hurt and miss leauge games.... yeah we have different thoughts then...
-
we´re not playing until monday, but we were playing 48hrs ago.... and this was the league cup......who cares about that one.... Man C lost in the round before this with a weakened side, you think they care?
-
have we got any of those so far during the nine games?? I´m sure we have but I can barely remember it actually, can it be 2-3 so far? I think we need to play a bit more on Rickies and Jays feets in the central area of the field to get those and when we get Ramirez back that would be one of our largest threats. It would be now too with Rickie on the field. Right now much of our games is to go wide and then put crosses into the area and that will never give us freekick oppurtinites that we can take advantage of. If we mix our game a bit and play throughballs on the ground we can definitely get great scoring oppurtinites this way.

Their schedule has been a LOT easier. Look at their games in november and december. They will be lucky to get more that 6 points out of those and even that could be a tough task to achieve.... I dont see them at anything more than 21p by the new year.

Isn´t it really easy that are not allowed to play in the white kit when opponents have white in their kit? And West Ham do have white in their kit........ But I understand the lot of you, find something to complain about and never look at what rules there are....cause you live just to find anything to complain about...

The first perhaps someone would have saved but I´ve seen top top keepers see those go into goal too.... The second goal I dont really understand your opinion of, what should he have done you think? If you look at goals from angles regarding our keepers I would say that Evertons second goal on Gazza is by far a worse goal, Gazza takes that angle wrong with about two steps so that is to me a far worse goal to let in.

Anyone thinking Boruc would be third choice between him, KD and Gazza clearly never watches anything else than english football... Boruc is by far the best keeper when in full shape and fitness.

I want to see a change in how to defend set pieces, but I do know that almost every team does it the way we are doing now. I would want our defensive line to set up lower when we are defending set pieces because I believe it´s easier to defend if you can go forward and jump rather than like now ran backwards or towards the own goal and try to win the battles one on one. Our defenders are not that athletic that they can outjump the oppositions and that´s why I would prefer this different setup. You also get more players between the ball and the goal after the delivery in this type of setup. Yes it makes flicks close to the goal more of a risk but right now I´ll take that and try to make a change instead of what we are doing now..... (yes, english is NOT my first language so all of you grammar police do not have to report to the office due to this post)

Gazza has been doing alright, but who is my first choice for this season with those we got now?? Boruc of course, that´s a no-brainer. Yes he is not fully match fit but he will never be that if you dont give him games. Playing U21-games will not get him what he needs and therefore you have to give him 3-4 more games to fully see his capability. So for me, the choice to play hoom today wasn´t that surprising if you look at a bigger picture.

My opinion on GK position. Gazza has been doing alright, but who is my first choice for this season......Boruc of course, that´s a no-brainer. Yes he is not fully match fit but he will never be that if you dont give him games. Playing U21-games will not get him what he needs and therefore you have to give him 3-4 more games to fully see his capability. Cause it´s Nigels fault that the players can´t defend the first freekick? And it´s Nigels fault that Jos doesn´t close down the opponent on the second goal? And it´s Nigels fault that Fonte throws his arm up and boxes the ball?? yeeeez..... This was (again) not a manager loss, it was stupid poor defending. We truely needs defenders, mostly a LB so we can play Yoshida as CB cause in those games with him there we´ve looked pretty decent....

How many will Lambert score this season................
Olallana replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Obviously he will only get one more since Paul Merson said he would only score five and those pundits are always right, aren´t they? If he makes that fifth before christmas we might as well sell him in the january window -
He might be a manager at christmas yes.... but not at Southampton FC

I totally agree that Kelvin has not been up to par at all, very much below. And I can still find reasons to blame him for the 2nd goal, that free kick from Arsenal cause of rally bad positioning.....BUT.... I have not seen one single comment (I might have missed it though) about the wall and that they weren´t jumping. If the wall jumps I think the ball would hit them and therefore no goal wouls occur on that one.
-
Not that we deserved it a bit, but if Rickie scores 4-2 on the ball from Ramirez it could have got interesting.... Yeah I´m pushing it a bit but read the first part of the sentence before you bash this comment.
-
I agree about the fresh legs. Unfortunately the other players continued playing if he was Lambert and put the ball on him instead of putting it in spaces behind the Man U defenders. You could see in one or two occasions how much faster he was but we didn´t use that weapon against them.
-
Dont know if his legs are up to an attacking style full back but not sure we need that in our system at the moment...
-
Delgado didn´t arrive to us after two seasons playing in Europe, Gaston does. I´m 100% sure that Gaston has talked to toher Uruguayan players in the PL about the style of play and feels that it suits him perfect. I have seen him in Bologna for at least 15 games and he has been dominating top teams in Italy almost on his own. Big big difference from the Delgado case.
-
Ramirez unknown? Yeah if you don´t follow international football..... This signing was the first step to attract better and better players to our club in a bit longer perspective, and he will be dynamite for us I can assure you. Yeah I would also like some strengthening on defence but not at the cost of not signing Ramirez, no frickin way.
-
Completely agree and as I said I hate bringing this kind of name up but desperate times might need desperate answers. gutted that we couldn´t bring Olsson in but it is what it is now..
-
Morgan by far.......as in the other two games! Always provide a passing option for teammates, great control of the ball when in possession. First name on the team sheet every week for me.
