Cortese was never spending KL´s money, can we get that out of the way please? He might have spent Southampton FC´s (or whatever the name is of the company) money but KL has always had the option of not transfer more money to the club or turning loans into equity (spelling?) if she didn´t want to herself.....(that might have put us in the sh*t if she would´ve blocked those things but I´m fairly sure this is all back to what Markus wanted rather than anything else) And people go on about the commercial side....yes that wasn´t very strong but in what position do you think you can increase that side the most, when you´re trying to get up the leagues to PL or when you have shown you´re a top 10 PL team? He probably recognised that, and correctly so, the Sky Money is so much more money than the commercial side will ever bring in so he focused on building the best team possible and I would believe that once we were in the position we are in today with a top 8 finish, then you can focus more on the commercial side.

I wanted Afellay a year ago, and still think he would be worth a punt on a low wage but one he can raise it with games/performance based bonuses. He´s been out of the game for a long while but get him going again and he´s a great player. Obviously Tello wouldn´t be bad but seems to be Liverpool bound....(they do like to sign attacking players and not defenders....) Rodwell from Man City would be lovely but not very likely unfortunately.

I´m doubtful but willing to give the new board the benefit of a doubt....obviously you cant compare with the old board cause in that case we have seen the actions and this one hasn´t really had the chance yet. But there has been some naive comments and they should´ve known that those would be picked up by the media.....those comments have put me in the doubt mode as of now. I guess we´ll know more in a month or two. For me a likely scenario is that Spurs actually will go for some other manager leaving MP without a better choice than to remain here.

One thing that crosses my mind though is that clubs in Italy, Spain and so on can take a few punts and buy young players from South America (or to be more precise anywhere outside Europe) while english clubs cant do that due to work permit rules. They only need 1 or 2 to come good out of 10 to gain profit from it. I think I read somewhere that Parma had about 250 players on their books with most of them out on loans everywhere around Europe...(notable not only players from outside Europe in this case, they have hoovered up a great amount of young free transfers all across Europe)

This is why transfer windows should be shorter, maximum 4 weeks or so. Then clubs that want to buy have two options. Put up or shut up.
