"If you can't see this you shouldn't be driving".
-
We were in the front garden when a DPD driver tried to drop a parcel at a house just a few doors up the road. When he got no answer, and noticing we were in, he asked if we could take the parcel for "the white house across the road", which we did. As he drove off I checked the house name on the parcel and saw it wasn't the house he was knocking at, it was one 400 yards further along the road. I have lost count of the number of drivers who have to be shown that our house name is written in large letters on a plaque on the front gate; "Oh, I never saw that".

Cleverly tying himself in knots trying to rescue a policy he apparently once called "batshit".

You can tell we are getting near panto season; UK Government - "Rwanda is a safe country" UK Supreme Court - "Oh no it isn't" UK Government - "Oh yes it is".

The Supreme Court ruling implies that there is UK Law outside of the ECHR that makes the Rwanda scheme illegal, so simply dumping the ECHR won't solve the problem - Rwanda is not deemed to be a "safe" country. Rishi is thought to be working on finding a legally acceptable alternative destination.

She has become a parody and does more harm than good wherever she turns up because she becomes the story.

From the same source; "In January 2020, after months of bitter wrangling, the UK formally exited the EU, with an agreed 11-month transition period enabling both sides to negotiate a new trade deal. In the following year, 2021, goods export hit an all-time low – dropping by 40.7%, the biggest tumble since records began. Import value then grew in 2022 by 11% to just over £53 billion with a rise in imports from countries both in and outside of the EU. However, this is widely believed to be predominantly due to globally rising costs, rather than signalling economic growth. The UK’s Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) warned that the long-term impact of Brexit would be worse for the UK economy than Covid-19 – predicting it would reduce GDP by as much 4%, with the pandemic cutting it by a further 2%. It’s estimated that , in Q4 of 2022, GDP had fallen by 5.5%. The Centre for Economic Policy Research estimated that Brexit raised consumer prices, costing the average household £250 more on food alone. Meanwhile, 80% of SMEs say costs have increased since Brexit, particularly to import goods and recruit staff. Other business challenges created by Brexit include tariffs for British exports, disruption in supply chains, decrease in EU workers, and unstable confidence in the UK market. The knock on effect of these challenges on businesses has been considerable – 2022 saw a rise in insolvencies, which has continued to surge into 2023, with insolvencies reaching their highest levels since records began." “Brexit still remains a hurdle – it’s become a structural hurdle for UK exports,” said Allianz Trade’s Head of Economic Research, Ana Boata. She notes that in 2021, UK exports fell in volume at a time when most countries were enjoying a post-lockdown surge in trade." Please note, the list is of "possible" Brexit benefits ).

Why can't I turn on our new LED strip lights without having to download a fucking app and registering my details so I can receive a verification code ?

Last month Sunak announced he was ending "'years of political status-quo"', and also cancelled the second phase of HS2. Today he appoints one of the key figures of that "status-quo", and the initiator of HS2.

The man that enabled the Brexit referendum.

Will need to be given a seat in the House of Lords as he's not an MP.

How many others have been sacked twice from being Home Secretary ?

No mention of climate change ? Are you feeling OK ? Also, the piece is specifically about trade in goods, and the concerns of businesses trying to export to the EU post Brexit. Only a minority of UK businesses deal in services, especially so in the small and medium size sectors. Could you possibly find 1 article to reference that is not from the IEA ? Constantly quoting the same item, from the same biased source, does not make it any more reliable.

Nobody is suggesting the trouble was solely because of Cruella's words, but she certainly made things worse and encouraged the counter protesters, who, let's be honest, only ever turn up to cause a ruck.
