The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
badgerx16 replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
In the early 1990s I was part of a team looking into the technical and financial sides of one Local Authority becoming a Unitary, the premise of which was to save several million pounds. The team's conclusion was that the costs asociated with the changes outweighed the "savings", though not by much. Following this assesment, a second political review was carried out which found, perhaps conveniently, that the first one had underestimated the savings, and the process went ahead. -
Evening Major ( What a biased commentary. )

Reform run Nottinghamshire County Council have banned the local newspaper and the Local Democracy Reporting Service from talking to any of their councillors.

Such an astute businessman: ( From a BBC article about Trump's relationship eith the NFL ); "Trump had already attempted to buy the Baltimore Colts, before the NFL franchise relocated to Indianapolis in 1984. He then turned down the chance to buy the Dallas Cowboys for $50m in 1984 and bought the Generals instead for $9m. "I feel sorry for the poor guy who is going to buy the Dallas Cowboys," he told the New York Times. Jerry Jones became the Cowboys' owner in 1989. 'America's Team' won three Super Bowls in the '90s and are now the world's most valuable sports team at $10.1bn (£7.5bn)." The New Jersey Generals were part of the short lived USFL gridiron tournament. Trump led a USFL lawsuit against the NFL, sueing for $1.7Bn. They won part of the case and were awarded..................... $3. The USFL folded a few days later.

Farage says to energy companies "Prepare for fracking under a future Reform Government". Reform led Lancashire County Council, knowing it absolutely guarantees losing future local elections, say "No fracking here".

They are 'illegal' because there are no actual legal routes for them. In order to make an asylum claim they have to get to the UK. -
A storm in a D cup.
-
Cook them on the burning bush.

The BBC asking "Who is your UK sportswoman of the 21st century ?". We are only a quarter of the way through. The best of the century might not be born for another 25 years

Roll up, roll up, to the Biblical theme park. Have your wife turned into a piller of salt, drown Egyptians in the sea, watch children be massacred, see the special Passover crucifixions, recreate the fall of Sofom and Gomorrah, try your strength and see if you too can bring the temple crashing down like Samson, blow on Joshua's trumpet ( but stand well clear of the walls ).

Do you think he has a secret stash of black shirts in his wardrobe ? -
Seeing so many motorway bridges decked out with flags celebrating the life of a Turkish mercenary who fought in the Roman army. We are such a welcoming country for people from overseas.

As I wrote, "As I write this....". Earlier of the top 12 stories on the cricket home page, the 12th was related to the one day cup, being the running scorecard of the Gloucs/Hants match. 10 of the other 11 were related to the Hundred. It's as if they are trying to kill interest in List A cricket.
-
As I write this, there is no report on today's one day cup matches on the BBC sports website, just something written before today outlining what the potential outcomes might be. Wall-to-wall coverage of the Hundred though.
-
The Hundred is a waste of time and effort.

Either Still has been told that Bazunu is our #1 and to suck it up, or Still and the GK coaches think he is good enough to be #1. Either way, it doesn't reflect well on the management in the dressing room or the Boardroom.

Or a third choice keeper who hopefully never gets to the bench. I honestly can't see us even making the playoffs with the clowns running our recruitment making the new signings.
