So, just the 2 mass shootings this weekend; more than 20 dead in El Paso, and 9 dead in Dayton. I bet the gun lobby will say that yet more weapons are required to prevent such madness.

That would depend on whether there was a third. -
If RH wasn't there, who was 'managing' the team ?

Opinion polls currently show Remain ahead of Leave, with about 14% undecided. https://whatukthinks.org/eu/questions/if-a-second-eu-referendum-were-held-today-how-would-you-vote/ -

Well yes and no; https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1159866/Brexit-news-Boris-Johnson-latest-no-deal-transition-customs-union-single-market "BORIS JOHNSON has claimed the UK may remain in the customs union and single market until 2021 as the Prime Minister discussed what his revised withdrawal agreement might look like. He described a scenario where Britain would enter a transition period prior to reaching a free trade agreement. The former Foreign Secretary said: “Some of the changes and adjustments necessary in the run-up to October 31, and a lot of which we have already done, will be crucial anyway if we are going to come out of the customs union, come out of the single market as we must in the next couple of years. The current transition period in the Theresa May withdrawal agreement is only a year long, but The Daily Telegraph report under the new plan, the backstop would not be part of the deal and an additional payment to Brussels might be paid." -
Watched the first episode of Another Life on Netflix. Basically opens as Arrival, and turns into an Expanse / Star Trek / Interstellar mash - up. Not ground breaking, and has had poor reviews, but I will certainly continue with it. One major flaw, imo, is that this first episode seemed to rush through the basis for the story where it may have better to take the first half hour and turn it into 2 or 3 full episodes.

Some bits are grim, but it is one of the most economically deprived towns in the country, so that's not really surprising. It really depends on where you are, what you're looking for, and whether the sun is shining. I've lived up here since 1980, and it has gone downhill, but I think many city and town centres have gone the same way. The seaward side of the promenade has been completely overhauled, and provides a great amenity, but the shops, cafes, etc on the other side of the road suffer from a lack of investment. It still gets crowded on sunny days, particularly bank holidays. The illuminations are not as great as they used to be, but I have seen them nearly every year since my eldest was 1, so the 'magic' may have worn off.

To fit in that would be Scottish bank notes, or else the 'pink' pound.

And you will shoot it.

Jo Swinson (and the Death of the Liberal Party)

LD is correct, AV is not viewed as a PR voting system; https://www.electoral-reform.org.uk/voting-systems/what-are-voting-systems/proportional-representation/ -

Precisely. They fudged the issue and presented AV as the alternative to FPTP, as part of the Conservative's concessions in the coalition negotiations, when the LD's GE manifesto had proposed Siingle Transferable Vote as their preferred method; STV is seen as proportional whilst AV is not. Ironically, AV is used to elect the Speaker of the HoC, and the Committee Chairs. STV is used for the election of the Deputy Speakers. -

Why would we ? I think the status quo is the best option. However, I am broadly in favour of Schengen, and am not afraid of much of the broader European "project", although the implementation at the moment is flawed. We have so much more common interest with continental Europe to turn our backs on it in a hissy fit born of yearning for a past that can never be recovered. ( And what "Freedom" are you referring to ? ).

If you think Remainers are whingers, just wait a couple of years for all the little Brexit piggies to start squealing that the Land of Milk and Honey they voted for has turned out to be pure illusion.

Given that JRM dresses like an undertaker leading a hearse, I don't think they'll even be that quick

Oooh, get her ! Ok, take out the pint of milk and replace with sending the driver to put gallons of fuel in the tank of the departmental car. It's just indicative of the regression to the halcyon days of the 1950's that JRM yearns for.
