  1. Pleased to see Larsson go off - we always concede spawny set piece goals to Sunderland Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I hope Shaw gets a goal soon just so he stops trying to score every time he gets near the box Good effort though
  3. Could it be that we're using Clyne as an impact sub? Big boost to our pace going forward if he comes on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Shaw should have been looking for a pass there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. How on earth did we not score then? Near post Jay! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Tensions bubbling nicely here, expect some handbags if it stays like this Also, there's a nice Owen-free stream on first row if you fancy it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. No, I couldn't. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. People say Cortese 'spent other people's money well' as if it's easy. As if the Premier League doesn't have a long history of chairmen spending other people's money very badly.
  10. "Cortese, who intends to return to St Mary’s as chairman of another Barclays Premier League club, faces a massive compensation battle with Liebherr." From Cortese's favourite journalist
  11. Well, that's because one is a bigger story than the other.
  12. It should be pointed out that Markus 'only inherited' his father's fortune. Hans Liebherr made the business what it was.
  13. But worrying if we end up selling Shaw to Chelsea. Having Bertrand in part exchange would have softened the blow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Cortese's planning was meticulous. Last season he took the players to a secret sexual health clinic in the New Forest, where the club doctor took scans of their genitalia. Cortese then commissioned modern artist Damien Hirst to create hand-molded statuettes to be affixed to the walls of the dressing room at Staplewood. Some players now touch them for luck on the way out to training, claiming the move has boosted self-esteem and team spirit.
  15. It's a romantic idea but I doubt that Liebherr would sell to Cortese, and far as I'm aware he could have done fronted a consortium without resigning as chairman. If that was the plan then he would have informed certain players as well, certainly the one who has Cortese's name in his contract. If Shaw goes, it ain't happening.
  16. They will have taken the view that Cortese was the only man who could guarantee Southampton would be a better club for his development than Chelsea or Manchester United. Can't say I blame him/them, if it all falls apart from here he'll be tied into a five-year contract at a club which may not be able to help him realise his potential. Who knows if he'll have the opportunity to make it at the top level again if five years down the line we're a struggling side? That doesn't mean he'll leave now, of course. Pochettino staying will be a big plus, and he might be well advised to see how things pan out before deciding in the summer.
  17. It's almost as if there's some underlying misogyny to those comments. Fancy that!
  18. Some of you lot's comments about Katharina Liebherr really are disgusting. I don't know how much Premier League clubs have gone for in recent years but even one of the world's most valuable (Manchester United) has had big problems with its owners. There are plenty of folks around with more money than sense. If we believe one account of what's behind this dispute (that Cortese advised Liebherr against a hasty sale), it's possible that he feared she would entertain offers from unappealing buyers.
  19. The Telegraph's Jeremy Wilson reports that vastly differing accounts have been offered. Nobody has mentioned anything about investment this time though. It seems to me it's all about the power structure within the club, but who dun wot is anyone's guess at the moment.
  20. Neil Ashton is well connected enough that he doesn't need to speculate. It's sensationally written of course, but won't have come from nowhere. His source may have wanted to paint a picture, though. We know two things right now: 1. Contracted players engineer moves all the time. 2. The stability which we felt prevented unwanted sales is currently in question. The financial situation is still healthy, but not every player will remain committed. They'll all be re-evaluating their positions now, as Morgan Schneiderlin said in May. It's likely that at least one will fall on the other side of the line and seek a move away. A lot depends on Pochettino, how Katharina handles the players and when and by whom Cortese will be properly replaced.
  21. Some fascinating detail in that article, which is new to me: -Katharina unexpectedly visited the Austrian training camp in preseason and may have (if my Neil Ashton translator is working) had talks with Cortese about re-assigning some of his power -Cortese discovered Pochettino on a scouting mission to Espanyol for a player two years ago -Cortese's son is an 'academy recruit'?! -'Soon there will be a hotel for the players to stay in when they return from long away trips to avoid disturbing their families at 3am in the morning when they return home." -"On Wednesday morning many of the players were openly threatening to walk away from the club when they realised Cortese was about to quit."
  22. Goodness me, that is a new level of fawning.
