  1. With a bit of work we can segway this thread into a(nother) anti-Cortese rant.
  2. Most bookies have a book open on the Next Saints Permanent manager. Lump on Benitez IMHO.
  3. I realise it's been done to death, but we are not like Newcastle, a club that has never played in anything but stripes in living memory. I have been a Saints fan since the early 80s and we went almost all of that decade without playing in 'stripes'. I like a red and white striped kit but lets see what the next kit brings before we moan too much. If we are going to alternate red and white stripes with a non-striped kit I don't think many will have too much of an issue. It certainly makes more sense from a sense of how many can be sold as we won't have a red and white striped home kit, followed by a red and white striped home kit.
  4. And we haven't even worn the white kit yet! We won't next week either as it will be Yellows again.
  5. Tell that to Leicester's owners. It's the same sort of moronic sentiment as saying Fergie's achievements are nothing as it was all down to the players and Neil Warnock could have managed them to all those PL titles.
  6. Leicester for a start and they didn't have to start in L1 and they have lost millions and not even made the play-offs. As the Sky figures showed before the Jay Rob transfer (i.e. to get promotion to the PL) we had spent £4m LESS on players since the Liebheers took over than we had spent on new players.
  7. Utter rubbish. Mali aren't our patent company for a start. They are owned by the Liebherrs but has nothing to do with SFC.
  8. Out on a date? Bwahhhahhh!!!
  9. Lallana in the front three.
  10. Saints substitutes vs Man Utd: Gazzaniga (GK), Rodriguez, Lee, Guly, Richardson, Mayuka, Seaborne #saintsfc
  11. Yes he is.
  12. You're disgusting.
  13. Alps is a very odd person though. His main passion is a football team he hates everything about. I've said from day one that he's a manic depressive.
  14. They may not become bad overnight but neither do they become PL level players overnight. Both are Championship level imo.
  15. Not ours tho?
  16. Would be surprised if we would cost that much. He's been on a downward spiral since he was rated as a good prospect at WBA. His big move to Villa ended up with him playing only about 30 times in 3 years before being loaned out to the Championship with Leicester and then sold to Brum. £6m would seem a bit steep. He's 27 now too, so hardly one for the future.
  17. PL money? The owners have written off all debts from 1st two years, we didn't exactly splash the cash last season so I can see why we can spend now.
  18. We'd lose him for too many weeks when they are filming the next Lord of the Rings tho.
  19. Nice couple of pages of free publicity in the match programme this weekend Duncan. I wonder if Cortese knows the author is the same Fitzhugh Fella constantly sniping at his regime on the club's biggest message board? Probably not or else I doubt you would be getting pieces in the programme.
  20. I was begining to think I was the only person who realised this..... There was someone wailing away on The Ugly forum that the loyalty system means that even though he went to many games in L1 him and his son would not be able to attend many games at SMS this season. Man U tickets have been on sale for what? 2 weeks and still not sold out. Our stadium is perfectly sized for our size of fanbase. We would only need more seats to accomodate the 10k who would want tickets if we got to the CL...
  21. Anyway, have we asked for volunteers to go on forum suicide watch or change the bedsheets?
  22. Have you had a look at their forum? They don't want him! lol. They view him as a bargain basement replacement for Modric who is unable to play in the centre and would be nothing more than a squad player to provide cover for Lennon and Bale. One poster there said that not signing him would be like dodging a bullet as they had with Bryan Ruiz! And there was us thinking he was the 2nd coming of King Kev!
  23. I think of all positions on the football field FBs are about the least important. We chugged on nicely for hyears with Dodd and Benali in the top flight... He's ok, nothing special. Gone to a much bigger club than us where he will only play when Evra is injured or rested.
  24. What complete and utter bollux. We were a plc so if you want to see where the money "PROBABLY" ended up then all you need to do is to look at the published accounts. You will quickly find that sqaure root of f'k all went to shareholders. As one myself I certainly never received a penny... As for players only leaving now because they want to leave. Are you honestly saying that Bridge, Walcott and the rest were forced out of the door by a chariman looking to cash in???? No, they all wanted to leave and so they did. Which is exactly the same as will happen with Lallana, Shaw, Ward-Prowse (who I would imagine has as much loyalty to the club as Oxo) when/if they want to leave. I'm very happy with how Cortese is running the club but do you really think "the money from a sale will be invested back into the team"? Let's look at the facts, we have got promoted to the PL this year and that is worth tens of millions of ££s. As Sky showed on Sunday, the net spend on players has been £3m, a figure even Rupurt would be proud of. What's that? £1m per year. I'm sure if our net spend under Lowe was £1m per year the fans would be baying for blood. Given the above, how much of the Oxo money do you think has been ploughed back into the club. I would wager not very much at all.
