The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread
once_bitterne replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
Can't start a new thread as I'm a 3 a day man but thought I would add to this one as I've had a bit of info that makes me the closest to ITN I've ever been! A friend's milkman's budgie (well actually a bloke I work with) has a son who is best mates with the Aldershot striker Scott Donnelly. Apparently Scott was round his house over the weekend and was saying that he will be joining Southampton in the Summer. He currently plays for Aldershot so would have thought we would be setting our sights a bit higher but could be a squad signing if we don't extend DC? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Donnelly -
Celtic have not got a pot to pi ss in.

I hope you will be proudly wearing the Sash kit next season! From what I'm hearing it's a definate! :smt040

As a rule of thumb I would go for anything that eminates from Daren is an arguement. 90% of his posts seem to be arguments with 19C who delights in winding him up and the remainder are arguments (not debates) with CB Fry.
-
Why do you bother posting on here? Every time I see a 'contribution' from you on any topic it degenerates into abuse..... Do you just like arguing?

Mr Illingsworth has re-surfaced with a statement: http://www.clubfanzine.com/southampton/v2.showNews.php?id=27768

For someone so rich it really is amazing just how little is actually known about ML!!!! I mean we are not even sure when his birthday is! I would love to confirm if he is married and if he has kids (I'm thinking he doesn't) as it would be great to think the club could be passed down the Liebherr generations and that our new found success isn't just centered around a man approaching pensionable age.
-
Indeed. There were more than a few boos tho I noticed it in the stadium at the time before reading this thread and watching the recording of the game later that evening. No big deal tbh, personally I wouldn't have booed him but if it gives him idea about just how unpopular decision not giving AP more time would be then maybe it didn't do any harm.
-
Bang on the 25 min mark. Definatly nothing to do with Mahwinny as he was only shown when the players were being introduced and way before the second half Mexican wave. NC was def booed. It did seem more pantomime villain than anything but if it makes him realise that all he fans are solidly behind Pardew then maybe it did more good than harm?
-
I normally disagree with everything you say. But not this....
-
Not sure why people keep mentioning the Mexican wave, it was nothing to do with that. The wave was in the second half, this incident was in the first half. The big screen in the ground zoomed in on Markus and there as a big cheer, then moved to Cortese who wad cheered but quite a few loud boos too. I would guess these were more pantomime villain boos from the sort of people who watch Big Brother where nowadays everyone gets booed on eviction and/or people who are falling for the Hammer supporting journalists blatent attempt to get Pardew back to Upton Park by unsettlng him in his position at Saints...

In fairness it is difficult to look for a sound....

So you can't compare football violence to pregnancy but comparing it to speeding is ok? It's about intent Stooey. If you throw a brick or a punch you are intending to injure someone and should be punished accordingly. If you are speeding you are just trying to get somewhere a little bit quicker. HTH. x
-
LOL. No, you're quite correct, your 'it's just lads being lads' approach to football violence makes your far more intelligent than those who don't feel that football violence is an intrinsic part of the matchday experience. I would assume thay you would categorise the throwing of 'a few stones' or someone 'getting a slap' as being minor but what happens if the recipient falls and hits their head on the pavement and ends up dying? Is it still minor? Sorry Stooey but all football violence is unacceptable and thus should be treated as harshly as possible. Anyway, your whole trademark playing down of football violence is a bit of a joke anyway. It's not as if it is coming from someone who was actually involved in the 70s/80s but instead from someone who watched Football Factory and got a bit aroused.... What ever happened to Bad Boy Saint? I always got the impression you were trying to groom him into being the overweight football hooligan in appalling clothing that you wished you had been in your youth. Would you be terribly upset if I didn't accept your kind offer of a place on the Romsey buses this weekend?
-
I like Stupid's idea of football violence being able to be categorised into minor and major. It's a bit like being slightly pregnant.....

Thank heavens the JPT journey is over this weekend

Yeah, I'm like you Alpy. It will be much better next week when Wembley is in the past and we are instead looking forward to a meaningless league game in the third tier of English football. Does nothing EVER cheer you up? If you won the lottery I'm sure you would moan about the size of the cheque used in the publicity photo was not quite as large as you would have hoped. I really do think you suffer from depression. -
Martin Samuel, Daily Mail on Coretese: "self serving" and a "buffoon"
once_bitterne replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
I think you are 100% wrong there. The article was written by Martin Samuels who truely hated Rupert Lowe. Samuels wrote the article accusing Lowe of treating Dave Jones 'shodily' and the paper who Samuels was working for at the time was taken to court by Lowe, a case that Lowe won. -

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1259684/BA-Unite-strikes-Willie-Walsh-vows-win-war-attrition.html Personally I think the shoes are far worse fashion crimes than the pink jacket! I can't believe he wears that stuff when not on duty, it must be the sort of Geography Teacher casualwear clothes that one wears when leving one's large house to stand on the picket line with people who actually serve the drinks. -
LOL. I bet that went down well with him! I wonder if actually handed over his readies for his tickets or got some freebies off of someone other than the club?
-
LOL! How long does it take to update a database? Well according to those figures, it's pretty much a 5 day a week job! Surely a Union which has funds at its disposal both from membership subs and numerous other places can afford to employ a few admin people to do this sort of task? Actually, come to think of it they do. Talking as someone who worked as a contractor at the Unison HQ I know that that Union was awash with full time employees so thinking UNITE would rely on someone like Duncan to update a database is ludicrous. What is equally ludicrous is to expect any employeer to pay an employee for not doing their job. If a person wants to do additional Union duties then all well and good but this should be done in their own time or if that is not feasible then go part time and be paid by the Union for the work done for them. Union's are not charities they have a lot of financial clout. Hopefully these archaic practices will soon be consigned to the dustbin.

Wonder if Lawrie has been demanding free tickets and hospitality?
-
p.s. Can we play "Where's Holley?"?
-
I don't know what's the biggest crime. Actually I do, the pink jacket!!! Can't believe that companies have to pay full wage for Union Reps who hardly do a hand's turn work in their lives and instead 'busy' themselves with 'important' Union business. Surely this should be done in their own time! After regularly flying BA we took the decision to change to Virgin Atlantic this year even though it means flying into an airport an extra 90 mins drive from our destination that the one BA go to, just because of the threat of strikes. We won't ever change back. Do the idiots from Unite even know the damage they are doing to the company they work for? I doubt they even care.....
-
Fame for the Forum at last! Our very own Fitzhugh Fella gets mentioned is dispatches in the Daily Mail today!!!! No wonder he is striking what with having to do all that work.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1259684/BA-Unite-strikes-Willie-Walsh-vows-win-war-attrition.html

Suggestion for Ticket Office - PLEASE
once_bitterne replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
DO send tickets for games at Wembley recorded delivery. (esp. when charging £3 per ticket handling fee) DON'T stamp 'Southampton Football Club' in red ink on the top of the envelope.
