  1. I don't think you will be standing as I don't believe it is allowed at football anymore...
  2. We made some bad moves in the window... We needed Danns very badly. Also, Ward would have been better than Seaborne and Barnard is far too similar to Lambert (ie. no real pace) We needed a quick striker to play alongside Rickie (maybe Jackson?)

    SICK

Yawn..... Red and White is Southampton. Not necessarily in stripes......
  4. I would think that if we finish a lot more than 10 points adrift of the play-offs then Pardew will be gone.
  5. You better watch out for the massive fry on Timothy's shoulder that obscures his vision.....
  6. Maybe Cortese found your 'Manifesto' of American players in the wastebin and thought it best if you weren't there?
  7. I wonder if most of the people compaining so much about a sash kit are ones not old enough to remember us playing throughout the 80s in non-striped kits? ANyway, I thought the Save Our Stripes battle was lost as the Uefa cup shirt had no stripes on the back.
  8. Hope it is the sah design. Not just because a change will be good but also to see the hysterical reaction that is bound to appear from those fans who seen convinced that Saints have never played in anything other than uniform sized red and white stripes. Red and White IS Southampton, but not necessarily stripes!
  9. Just thought, that if you want to make some cash all you would have to do is stick a phone number on here, tell everyone to ring it to get tickets and people would be falling over themselves to ring it and give over their credit card details! Easy con!
  10. I think it should be something a bit different so for me, it's 'Anything But Stripes'. Would be happy with the sash design, the Keegan era one or even a year of playing with Yellow shirts and blue shorts at home to commemorate our greatest day.
  11. Done. Told them to leave as is.
  12. Mods, any chance of a poll to see what SW members would prefer? The options would seem to be: a) standard red and white uniform sized stripes b) Retro Rank Xerox/Keegan era c) Retro of very first kit with diagonal stripe d) Retro red and white quarters I would go for b.
  13. From BBC transfer Ticker: BBC Sport's Simon Austin: "I've just been to interview a sports consultant at Deloitte. They estimate only £21m has been spent in the January transfer window so far, compared to £170m last year and £150m in January 2008. There haven't been any £10m signings this year and only one for £5m, which Spurs paid Portsmouth for Younes Kaboul. There were seven £10m signings last January - three were made by Manchester City (Nigel de Jong, Craig Bellamy and Wayne Bridge), three by Spurs (Wilson Palacios, Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane) and one by Arsenal (Andrey Arshavin). -------------- Interesting that so little money has been spent. We must have out spent quite a few Prem clubs this window.
  14. Danny Higgenbotham in on loan from Derby County and David Prutton in for £2.5m from Forest. Brought to you by 'UK Transfer Window Deadline Day Gold'
  15. Why did we buy Barnard???? Are you really THAT dense Alps! Ok, I make things easy as you are a bit hard of thinking...... Football is a SQUAD game. Funnily enough the 11 players and subs that you see (or rather don't see in your case) on a Satuday are in fact NOT the only players the club have. There are other members of the 'squad'. It is commonly accepted that a team needs 4 strikers in its first team squad to cover injuries, illness, loss of form, rotation, etc. Now that we have shipped out both Saga and Paterson we only have 3 recognised strikers, even after signing Barnard (and Connoly can not be expcted to be fit for anywhere near the full amount of games). The nearest we have to a 4th striker would have to be McClaggon who has pretty much zero experience in senior football. So the question you SHOULD be asking is why have we ONLY signed one striker this window. As an aside does your relentlessly negative manic depression stretch to other aspects of your life? I always have the picture of your daughter returning from school with a report card full of 'A's and a single B+ with a face as pleased as Punch only to be greeted by you reading it and collapsing into howls of despair that the single B+ will undoubtedly mean she will end up unemployed and living under the railway arches....
  16. Not bringing on a striker that's for sure!
  17. Danns scores for Palace.
  18. Has he actually played a game of football since he came OUT of retirement? No wonder they are fooked, what a totally bizarre signing. They have been paying the wages of a 4th choice keeper they really didn't need and was probably physically unable to play in any case!
  19. We could do a fan's lottery as to when he scores....... we could call them Puncheon Vouchers. I'll get me coat.....
  20. Has the idea of moving the away fans section been approved by the Police? Last time this was mooted they shot down any chances of this as they said the current location was by far the easiest\safest way of getting away fans into and away from the stadium. I would doubt the Police will allow this proposed move to take place.
  21. What you say does have some sense to it. Lambert with Waigo and Lallana alongside him and then Conolly/Barnard on the bench is pretty formidable. I guess the transfer of Barnard is pushing Pardew ever further into 442 as it would be pointless to buy one of the top L1 goalscorers and then not play him regularly. I'm not sure that Barnard would really fit into a 433 as he doesn't really seem to have the pace to play anywhere other than where Lambert is.
  22. Our defence has improved a lot since the early part of the season and will only improve as Conte settles in and Pardew works out who to partner him with, Jaidi, Seaborne or even Perry. The main problem of late is that we are not scoring the goals we were earlier in the season. The 3 main reason for this seem to be: 1. Lambert is badly out of form. He was scoring for fun earlier in the season, now if you take out pens and free kicks, his scoring record is poor of late. 2. Lallana was looking very good when we were hitting form in Nov but has gone off the boil since. 3. Conolly - a very important player to the team who we are missing since he has been injured.
  23. Forget mankind what about womankind?
  24. Duncan, where do you stand on the local rivalry v. hatred debate? Some on here would like to think that it is all part of the history of football but in reality, while a friendly local rivalry existed since the clubs came into existance, the whole hatred thing where each side views the other as 7 fingered inbreds who deserve a good kicking, was only really something that came into being the late 60s/early 70s. With you in-depth knowledge of Saints history I'm sure you are aware that between the wars many fans held season tickets at both the Dell and Fratton Park so they could watch football every weekend. Also I remember when they were in the Cup final a couple of years back they re-printed the back page of a paper from the next day after they won the cup in the 40s and at the bottom of the page was the match report from the Saints game which reported on an uneventful draw where the biggest cheer of the day came when the announcer stated that Pompey had won the cup. As I said a local rivalry is great but the hatred and trouble that will no doubt accompany this game is nothing short of moronic.
