I would be far happier if we won the JPT than beat Pompey. A cup win is something tangible that will still be remembered in decades time and give us something to put alongside the FA Cup in the trophy cabinet. Yes, it is good to beat our local rivals but it is only really life and death to the sort of people who stetch the rivaly to the extent of not being able to set foot in Portsmouth. (ie our very own Westwood's) I'm very happy that Pardew is downplaying it. It's a game we have far more chance of losing and there are more important goals for this season. Is there any fan out there who fondly rememebrs the 2004-05 season as 'the season we beat the Skates twice' and not as the season we were relegated?
-
I'm assuming he means Otsemebor. Before the transfer window opened it was thought of as a nailed on cert that Thomas would be leaving, there were even reports that his solicitor used the arguement that he would be moving to a Northern based club in June as a reason why he shouldn't lose his licence when up in court on a speeding charge. However, given the fact we have a lot of cup tied defenders and two huge cup games coming up against MK and Pompey I think thoughts of moving him, and his admitidly too high for a L1 player wages, on have been shelved.
-
He certainly isn't scoring as much from open play of late.

The difference is that while Kenwyne was definitly learning his trade in his early time with us, he was always a great athlete. He had size, strength and speed in ubundance. Paterson has none of these things. Yes, he is still young but he is not ever going to get in the first team regularly here so needs to be moved on. L2 would seem to be his level, nothing wrong with that as long as he is playing. The same goes for Tompson and White too. Molyneaux and Boyle could prob do a job at Conference level and Pulis? Well maybe as a painter and decorator....
-
With this and the Stock debacle I can see why Man Utd operates a total ban on any of its players having accounts on social networking site.
-
Paterson is awful, he needs to move on to a L2 club. We need a good striker to share the load in partnering RL with Connolly. That leaves us with also needing a 4th striker, nothing special just an average L1 type player who we should be able to pick up for peanuts and who will be a huge improvement on Paterson.

Will be a massive let down for them after the big matches the final has had for them in past years! LDV Vans Trophy 2000-01 - Port Vale 2 Brentford 1 2001-02 - Blackpool 4 Cambridge United 1 2002-03 - Bristol City 2 Carlisle United 0 2003-04 - Blackpool 2 Southend United 0 2004-05 - Wrexham 2 Southend United 0 Football League Trophy 2005-06 - Swansea City 2 Carlisle United 1 Johnstone's Paint Trophy 2006-07 - Doncaster Rovers 3 Bristol Rovers 2 (aet, 2-2 after 90 minutes) 2007-08 - Milton Keynes Dons 2 Grimsby Town 0 2008-09 - Luton Town 3 S****horpe United 2 (aet, 2-2 after 90 minutes)

Who's not elligible to play? I assume Otsemobor and Seaborne are cup tied but Fonte can play?
-
Are we including expense accounts? If so, then Lawrie!
-
Not harsh really, I'm not saying they are c rap footballers, but given the players we are signing and the way we are going I would be willing to bet there is a good chance that none of the 4 you mentioned will ever be in a Saints starting line-up again.
-
I've got a complete team to move on.... ---------------------------------Poke------------------------------------- Thompson--------------Mills-------------Thomas-----------------Molyneaux Holmes----------------Gillet-------------Pulis-------------------McClaggon --------------------------Saga-----------Paterson----------------------- Sub: Boyle (in 80s one sub allowed style!) Maybe Marcus could enter a team in a Sunday league?

I'm assuming that you are in favour of a total news blackout during January where we should all only discuss the weather on here and check the OS for pictures of new signings holding a scarf? How would I feel if Stock didn't sign? TBH, not that bad as he really aint all that.... I realise Alpy that you aren't exactly the smartest contributer to this forum but if you really do believe the postings on fan's message board could derail a transfer then you are even more moronic than your mind-numbingly tedious posts over the years have shown you. But just in case you really do believe that.... A heartful message to Doncaster Rovers player Mr Stock. Stockie, are you listening? You really are the worst excuse for a player that I have ever seen. You play like Hayden Mullins but without as much skill and flair. I have no wish to see you in a Saints shirt and if I do I must promise you that I will boo your every touch with a Delap-esque fervour. Further more I will kidnap you cat and urinate through your letter box. Best wishes for the season, o_b (think that should do the trick)

Aside from those already mentioned Poke and Thompson. Not sure why so many are down on Forecast (apart from the fact he was signed when Rupes was Chairman) but he is a far better prospect than Poke. He was good enough to get on the bench for a PL team so is def good enough to fight for the no.2 spot in L1 with Bart.

I think the one think we can take from this whole episode is that, even by the standards of professional footballers, Stock is as thick as shi t.....
-
As an aside, this brings the very interesting question about whether or not fans message boards should be censoring posts they see fit to be not in the best interests of the club, whether for fear or scuppering a transfer or another reason. Personally I would argue that the whole point of this type of web site is to get a bit ahead of the game and discover transfer news, etc before it becomes widely knowledged. If this wasn't the case then we would all be happy to just log on the OS and find out about a new player when he is doing the obligatory shirt photo. I really don't think it is a good idea for an independent web site to feel it has to protect a piece of news getting out, especially if the reason it has got out is down to the stupidity of the person concerned! I seem to remember this road was gone down once before with Keith Legg's old Saints Forever site when he sat by his computer during a pre-season game deleting any mention of a player we were trialing just in case another club jumped in!!
-
What was the reasonijng behind the removal of posts from the Benali thread if it wasn't at the behest of the club?
-
Hmm, it looks like censorship is alive and well! I've just read on another forum that as well as the Stock thread being removed, certain posts from the Benali thread have also been deleted. I'm assuming this is on instruction from the club. With this and the petulant behaviour to the Echo and Benali it looks like Nicky Cortese has more in common with a certain ruddy faced duck hunter than we thought!
-
Not another Portugeser! *shudder* We were desperately in need in a CB when Gormless George Barley sp unked best part of a milion on 'Pele'!!! I would prefer Ward as he seems a better all round player and more suited the style of play in L1. Having said that at least Fonte has experience of the English game unlike Monteiro who couldn't even pick out England on a map.
-
Given he is barely a footballer, I would imagine, in footballers terms, the wage he is on is miniscule to it would really would be best for the club to pay up the few grand left on whatever contract he is on and send him on his way.....
-
He may well be, the problem tho is that Pardew thinks he is a better player than Papa Waigo.

What is the account name of the Saints twitter feed?

Personally I think what you have written is more grossly unfair... The team performed better before he arrived than after? In case you have forgotton by the mid 90s we had fallen from where we were in the early 80s to be a perrenial relegation contender who would have been relegated years before Lowe ever walked into town if it hadn't been for MLT. Lowe dragged the club into the 21st century both on and off the field and despite MLT coming to the end ofhis career the club actually improved and became a mid-table or better team under Hoddle and WGS. Still I guess that fact doesn't sit well with the Lowe is the anti-Christ argument.....
