  1. Hamster I generally divide our Nation up by; Wealth creaters - pay for everyone. Without us we are screwed. Neccesary Public Sector workers;soldiers, teachers, police, firefighters, Docters, Nurses possibly even parking wardens Others; public sector workers who retire at 60 when we are told we are now going to retire at 70, include sick leave as part of their holiday, have statutory 6 weeks holiday and gold plated pensions. The Queen is a wealth creator so I support this institution. I despise politicians and bureaucracy because it is an indusry that creates red tape that means that us wealth creators have to work longer hours and spend less time with our families. Th EU is a master at this.
  2. The Queen has no real power, she is symbolic. She is a very good ambassador for the country generating considerable income for the nation. She conducts herself with great dignity (I might not be prepared to die for her though) In contrast this unelected woman with limited experience wields considerable power. She joins a long list of Brits that have joined the EU gravy train and made fortunes. A special thank you to the Kinnocks for all their efforts in making a difference to our lives; they preach socialism while picking up an obscene amount of money. I cannot wait until the MEPs expenses are esposed.
  3. I got 12/1 on them finishing bottom and 3s on them relegated. A day later they were odds on for relegation. The bookies were caught with their pants down.
  4. TameSaint you got thise odds in early August
  5. Very sad to hear this. A loyal Saints and Hampshire stalwart.
  6. He kept the club going when we would have gone out of business. He sorted the Ted Bates statue out. His company sponsored just about everything apart from the shirts. He was guilty of not seeing through Wilde but he was not alone there. People should acknowledge his contribution.
  7. In fairness we had a miracle escape with a fairy tale ending. In the middle of a a horrendous economic crisis we find a Swiss Billionaire. He seems sensible and not as egotistical as some. Administration was a good thing but it should really have been a terrible thing. How many current clubs would want to be in our situation. Yes we may be bottom of league one but we all know that with our resources we will be climbing back up the league.
  8. the chap I sat next to at the Dell until the season before we moved was over 90 and went to his first game in 1921
  9. Everyone was at it then. Remeber the West Ham pair (I think it was). It also went on in cricket - first wide etc
  10. I backed Charlton to win the division after they thumped us last season. Bloody good point
  11. Not going to be smug but we have invested heavily at 3/1 for relegation and 12 to 1 to finish bottom. Sadly They are now odds on for relegation and 7/2 to finish bottom. Somebody on this site tipped me off about these prices
  12. In fairness PFC we got was it 7,000 againts Hearts, the second such home friendly in a week on the day that Hampshire played in a final at Lords. I think under the circumstances even you must concede that is impressive.
  13. A lot of people whinged on this forum, the Saints Trust actively looked to rally support to find alternatives. 'All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing'. They tried to do something! Anyway tomorrow is about Hampshire and a good trip to London.
  14. Mathew Harding (Chelsea) offered what would have smashed the the transfer fee; more than Andy Cole. Base your valuation on that. Oh and by the way he scored more goals and set up more chances than Cantona in a relegation threatened team.
  15. When we were in crisis the Saints Trust played a valuable part in trying to cordinate supporters to do something about it. I think that should be commended. A lot of people just walked away.
  16. Excellent news. I am sure he reads this forum
  17. John Mortimore is a gentleman and a footballing legend. Go to Benfica and ask anyone. In this new era I hope we can acknowledge his service to the club.
  18. Quite right. You should always have to pay for your tickets.
  19. what was the crowd?
  20. Tony Lynam I think you should have a lot more to add than just whether Matt is 'peed off or not. Thank God it turned out OK in the end.
  21. Corporate HQ; It looks like this is your Paul Allen moment - I believed that Paul Allen liked Saints because he could park his boat near the ground. I look back and cringe now. If your fella was serious than why would there be an exodus of players; surely you would keep the team together?
  22. I am not fond of Portsmouth but I would not wish them to go out of business. All I want is for them to be a poorer team than us.
  23. Woggy is an institution at Saints. The club would be sending out all the right messages by bringing him back.
  24. I think the club was good value. We also have potentially a large fanbase - and the fans are a good advert for the club. I think we will sell 15,000 season tickets next season and if we get some momentum going we will regular get crowds of 25,000 plus. He obviously believes that as well. I think also ML has quite alot of business links with the area.
  25. During the euphoria of the new takeover, I think we should remember the one person who kept the club going and always acted in the interests of the club. When the Ted Bates statue turned into a debacle, it was Leon Crouch that reached into his pocket and sorted it out. During the dark days of administration it was Leon that recognized just how seriously our plight was and again dipped into his pocket and rallied the troops. Leon may have a reputation as a loose cannon in his dealings with the media but that is because he always cared. His company's seemed to be one of our loyal sponsors when we were spiralling downwards. As we enter a new and exciting phase in the history of Saints, we should still acknowledge the role of Leon Crouch in keeping our club afloat.
