I reckon he’s going to be a bit like Yoshida was now: not good enough to be a top 10 PL centreback, but also at the same time needs a run of games in a row before showing some competence- throwing in him as we did means he will always display some rustiness.

For me result is all everything- we got the 3 pts even if it was nervy at the end so my weekend is complete. However, am worried about Ings and Bednarek. Perhaps the international break will be a blessing if Ings can just about get through the Newcastle game and then have 2 weeks off!

Yep happy with that team, although I would have started Redmond over Walcott but I don’t mind Walcott starting if Ralph thinks that is best. Very happy with bench though! Djenepo/Redmond/Diallo to come on for me at some point

I think it depends- I don’t know much about basketball in fairness but I think constantly switching formation you may shoot yourself in the foot as instructions become confusing. Also without meaning to sound ignorant, I feel like basketball players can easily switch positions because traits tend to be generic i.e. tall strong players? In football you really need the personnel to switch formation and roles- a left footed player might not work on the otherside, another player may not have speed to play on the wing, others may lack the brain to move into centre half etc etc. Ultimately as well though- if it isn’t broke then don’t fix it!

it was offside though, so no qualms about it. what a finish by armstrong though. what I am loving the most is we seem to be switching players/formations very seamlessly

The stream I was watching was actually really good to be able to hear Ralph’s instructions from the touchline. You could hear Ralph encouraging him by saying ‘Good, Good!’ and ‘Nathan stay in the middle’, ‘Press now’ etc etc I think we will see more from him, might even end up being the go-to sub instead of Obafemi. We all know how much Ralph values speed/pace
