Impressed with Romeu today, bossed the midfield and hardly put a foot wrong. Tadic was lively and Cedric had a better game. Unsure how Mane got motm although he had a reasonable game. Still concerned with JWP, Davies, Targett and JRod is well below his best atm. Much better than previous displays but still worried about games against better quality sides. But cannot complain as at least we have improved. Hope the transfer window is kind to us

Some are asking the question already about not enough being spent on quality players this season, no doubt if this season continues as it has started the voices will get louder. Seeing that the current owners saved the club from oblivion primarily caused by Lowe, it is reasonable to expect a reluctance to voice disapproval after a handful of games, but if it continues they will for sure.

No disrespect to him but he is not Premiership quality. I think everyone was hoping for him to be another home grown success story but this one has fallen short.

What with the loss of Clyne and Morgan, injuries/sickness, difficulties getting in a CB, perhaps the powers that be decided that advancing in the competition was a lost cause and was detrimental to improving our league form. That's the only reason I can come up with why that side was fielded last night. I'm Clutching at straws !

On a positive note we now have a large squad of mediocre players.

I'm surprised how many on here have taken till tonight to realise how bad we have become.

Our we serious about progressing in this competition with that lineup? Jeeeze, I would be p*ssed if we had started a League cup game against a league 2 side with that bunch.

What a pants job!

No punchline, no answers just a genuine question. I don't believe there is any point in forcing a player to stay but I am asking basically how do we stay competitive in this league if the inevitable is that we will keep losing our best players whilst struggling to find adequate replacements. Although we have had a great couple of seasons I think we've reached the point where we cant sustain the loss of quality players again and we may be thrown into a scrap at the bottom end of the table.

Any idea's? Also, is it possible to compete in this league with players that are not sought after?

As per Clyne 2nd half of last season. I know what you saying SOG, I am a bit disenchanted with the game atm what with players agents calling the shots and multimillionaire footballers throwing their toys out the pram, Sky tv scrutinising every blade of grass and who trod on it last, the likes of Mourinho blasting a phsio for treating a player, its all a bit sad atm.

We aren't selling anyone means "well not till next season that is" and then we spend this season watching said players running about with the sulks, Morgan being the exception. What's the answer? No idea.
