Have you ever taken a bird or your Missus or both to watch Saints?
Saint Billy replied to chocco boxo's topic in The Saints
Can't even get other half to watch 5 mins on telly let alone get her to a game. -

The thing is going for them and getting them are two different matters when bigger clubs than us are sniffing around as well. Agreed, Michu was a steal but surely there are others about like him even if we have to pay 10 mill or thereabouts, but the targets we are supposedly linked with atm are muted to be on excess of 20 million.
-
I wish we could set ours sights a little lower and go for more realistic targets as these big money targets seem to be more hassle than their worth and its debateable whether they bring that much more to the table apart from high wages and their clubs taking the p*ss with fees etc, not to mention the blood sucking agents. Swansea seem to get it right with the likes of Michu last season and Bony Wilfried this season.

I haven't been on my hols yet and I'm none the wiser, sorry!

Apart from the fact that we have already beaten Delaps record 3 times in two seasons already, with a fourth probably before the season starts.

I think it is the fact that he c@cks up alot of goal scoring opportunities and not necessarily that he does not score enough although I suppose they equate to the same thing.

"clubs like Southampton cannot be champions of England"
Saint Billy replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Hence why I would prefer us making a bigger fist of it in the cup games rather then play a weakened side. Cup competition's are lucrative and winnable. -
What a bummer............. oops. Cant see it being popular with all those dirty mp's. Not many vices for that lot left after a clamp down on expense fraud.

PRE-SEASON: UE Llagostera vs Southampton
Saint Billy replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
The socks are extremely nasty as well. -
The only real difference is the off the field stuff a few years back after Lowe was ousted which generated a lot of interest on here and many more posters, some funny, some dull, some imposters. Rumours such as the Paul Allen takeover, yatchs sailing up the itchen etc etc. Although somewhat painful at the time, there was some hilarious posters, characters and strange events over that period of time which made the forum more attractive then.

Dont be too hasty, one in one out might have already happened but not disclosed for whatever reason. Innocent until proven guilty and all that.

Potential player signings tomorrow with new kit???
Saint Billy replied to peacey's topic in The Saints
It will probably be an anti climax as these things normally are, a horrible kit and a Hooper unveiled will be beyond my wildest expectations. -
Another 56 year old here. First game, Wolves at the Dell 1962/63 high scoring game. Lived in Tenerife for 7 years but moved back to UK 3 years ago. Now reside in Kent but get to alot of the London games and some home games. When going to London games I often bump into many Saints fans on the high speed train to London. I jump on at Ashford. Lived all over soton in my youth and mum still lives in Lordswood. Tenerife was a lonely place for a saints fan. I only came across 3 all the time I was there. The pkace is full of hammer fans/expats. Forgot to add that my 1st school was St Marys which as you can guess is or was close to SMS.

At the moment I do not think we have a natural leader/captain in the side. Its not about loyalty, skill which AL has loads of, its about leadership, being vocal, making sure the team sticks to the game plan as directed by the manager, motivation and at times boll*cking. I would say that Morgan comes the closest to filling that role and perhaps could grow into it....................................IMO!

Any away game as an opener is tough. West Brom are no pushovers.
