  1. Pretty pleased with a low-key draw to be honest, with the LDV 1st leg scheduled for the Wednesday beforehand!
  2. Looking at this page.... http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/FACompetitions/TheFACup/NewsAndFeatures/2009/3RP-draw-numbers-251109.aspx It appears we were tie 24 in the 3rd round, so that's our number one assumes.
  3. Davis James Perry Thomas Mills McLaggon/Waigo Wotton Gobern Holmes Waigo/Pato Saga would I suppose be the so called "rest XI"
  4. Mumours at the time around where I sit in the Itchen is why did AP not take Harding off (presumably the thought was to rest him and move Mills back to LB) for Wotton?
  5. "Not James, not James, not James!"
  6. What about Andros Townsend, currently on loan to Leyton Orient from Spurs? Very quick left winger (I think he broke away to set up the second goal during the 2-2 in October) and his deal expires Dec 31st.
  7. Matt Taylor was bought from Luton.
  8. Seems that Bell will be left out next week, but who comes in? Luke Wright - Batsman bowls a bit Adil Rashid - Batting all-rounder Liam Plunkett - Bowling all-rounder Ryan Sidebottom - Bowler Or is Cook in peril?
  9. Brian is apparently happy at Reading, and is out for a while with injury. I have it on good authority he's rather annoyed at this fact, with the Liverpool FA Cup game looming on the horizon!
  10. i'd say it feels like a win due to the lateness of the equaliser and holding our nerve going second in the shootout! Torquay was a draw
  11. Just shown the goals on SSN, 2nd Norwich goal was a bit of shambles, could have been a pen had the ref not played the advantage. Looks like Waigo for the equaliser as well?
  12. Thanks - I had successfully blocked him from my mind until you mentioned his name! 100% for accuracy on the description however
  13. Pundits... Mark Bright (drivel) Robbie Earle (drivel) Jamie Redknapp (speaks like a gatling gun) Presentors... Rob McCaffery (though is now doing very nicely in the UAE since leaving Sky) Dave Clark (Tit off Sky Sports News) Commentators... Andy Gray (Mr "Wise after the event") Jon Champion Clive Tylesley (Man Utd/Ronaldo mentioner at any opportunity)
  14. Check out the verbal rocket Broomes gets from one of his team-mates on conceding the pen http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00pflv5/The_Football_League_Show_2009_2010_12_12_2009/
  15. Does anyone know whether Saints should be playing in yellow/black or blue for the game?
  16. I thought he back heeled the ball off the line rather than over it!
  17. The first half was dire, mirroring the Brighton game but thankfully without any goals conceded on this occasion. The countless efforts to time waste by the Tranmere players weren't that surprising, I'm sure one of their players went down and began to roll, but managed to stop when he realised close he was to the touchline! They needed a fast start second half and got it, and now under Pardew seem to be prepared to push on more for the second goal, rather than sit back in fear of getting done on the break but inviting pressure. Antonio just didn't seem to be at the races, but I guess that's too be expected from a player that is still very much hit or miss at the moment and is still learning. Lloyd James was competent at right back, but wasn't really tested today. Good to see Hammond taking responsiblity when Morgan was close to getting the red, so much better having a captain that see things AROUND him rather than in front of him. With Bart in goal, Saints playing tempo also seems to have improved, as he seems to have more confidence getting some momentum going quickly compared to Kelvin. Lambert's ball control and lay off play is fantastic though, he's always associated with scoring but he gives so much more to the team... top player!
  18. Charlton away in September 2009
  19. Man Utd fan with the masses in Somerset until I was about 10, then switched to Saints in 1992!!! Moved to Eastleigh in 1999, gradually increased my attendance at home games over the following years before buying a season ticket this season...
  20. Baj, many thanks for this
  21. See you there
  22. I wasn't doubting you Badger, just backing my info via the official source! It got me interested, and plus I have nothing else to do at the moment, the games were: Southampton 1-0 West Ham Southampton 1-0 Crystal Palace Man City 0-1 Southampton Southampton 2-1 Luton Town Everton 0-1 Southampton Southampton 2-1 QPR Saints then lost to Forest 1-0 at The Dell (5/7 at home?!) to break the streak.
  23. A trip into the backwaters of the Official site reveals... Longest winning run (league): SIX (3/3/92 - 4/4/92). Longest unbeaten run: 19 matches (5/9/21 to 31/12/21).
  24. I was looking this up earlier and I believe the record to be six straight league wins...
  25. As soon as Jaidi made that stupid obstruction, I knew that the ball would end up in the net... after Saints had dominated for the first 20 mins. Personally, I thought Hammond especially was anonymous in the first half, but that may be down to the long ball game. All change second half though, as he (Hammond) was given more freedom to roam with Schneiderlin holding when Antonio came on. Never even 'saw' the second goal coming from that method/source either Connolly was everywhere, and I think the team that played the majority of the 2nd half will start next week, fitness permitting. Well done Saints
