Given that he’s basically saved Ings’ career, i’d be surprised if he hates Ralph. He was moving round like a cripple under Hughes, and even at the start of his near golden boot season. Clearly the fitness work did him no harm.

I wouldn’t be happy with Sorloth as the Ings replacement, because as you say, we already have Adams who does everything but score regularly. My hope would be any interest in Sorloth is in addition to Armstrong, giving us Adams, Armstrong, Sorloth, Tella as our striking options whilst Obafemi and Long leave. I think that’s a pretty good mix of styles personally.

It’s a shame for Ings because I think he really could’ve done a job for a big club, even as back up to a Kane/Lukaku. The only player out there that I am very confident would be a success here is Tammy Abraham. Beyond that, all the other names mentioned are a gamble. A Championship striker who’s scored 28 goals in a season for a shit team, and is youngish and available for less than £20mil isn’t a huge gamble imo. Bamford, Watkins, Adams have all stepped up to Premier League level fairly comfortably in recent years, and none of them got near the goals Armstrong got last year.

He’s not good enough to let him go for free next year imo. If he isn’t going to sign, there’s good money in him for us I think, so get rid.

I don’t think we’re lacking pace - Adams, Tella, Obafemi, Walcott and to a lesser extent Redmond and Armstrong all bring that in attacking areas. But pace only gets you so far, so if one of Edouard and Armstrong is quick and one is a good finisher, i’d rather have the good finisher please.

You’ve just said you haven’t seen him play, so not sure how you’ve come to that conclusion. He was a couple of goals behind Ivan Toney in the league, who is playing in a much better team, and i’m sure this place would explode with excitement if we signed Toney.
