  1. I was there for the hat trick too, and I would never have thought it was within 3 minutes at the time - never crossed my mind it would be the record! That third goal was absolutely brilliant from start to finish, they don’t often show the whole build up. Great team that was.
  2. I don’t agree that he’s dropped off, think it’s exaggerated on here massively because he doesn’t bomb forward like KWP constantly, but mainly that option is there to enable the diagonal ball from Vestergaard. But regardless of that, for a club that has to sell to buy, where is the logic in letting a perfectly capable full back go for free, when we already need to buy at least one already?
  3. Really can’t get my head round letting Bertrand go if it’s our choice. It’d be a perfect scenario to have a senior left back with a new understudy in (Williams) to eventually take his place.
  4. Yes, it isn’t something that I would advise anyone to do either, that’s why i’m saying if people just represented what Matt has actually been saying it would be a strong enough case that he’s said some pretty stupid shit. Exaggerating it or twisting it just clouds the whole discussion imo, and causes some to actually side with the people saying said stupid shit.
  5. Always wanted the genuine version of this shirt, but couldn’t part with the money - not a fan of unbranded retro versions, so this is absolutely brilliant!
  6. No he didn’t, he shared an image posted by somebody else that said ‘the people who were protecting Anne Frank were breaking the law, the people who killed her were following it’. The insinuation being that ‘it’s the law’ shouldn’t always be justification that something is right, as i’m sure there are thousands of example throughout history. ‘He compared lockdown to the holocaust’ is the sort of bias bollocks misinformation that is rife at the moment, and naive people lap it up and don’t bother to find out the actual situation. There’s plenty of bollocks Le Tissier has spouted in the past year, so i’m not sure why people need to make stuff up - it was the same with Trump, some of the quotes and headlines were so far from what he actually said, when in actual fact if you just quoted things he actually said, most people would still come to the conclusion he was a fucking idiot anyway.
  7. I’d love to hear you argue that Joelinton is a better player, i’m sure Newcastle fans would be impressed if you managed it.
  8. Joelinton, Benteke, Andy Carroll, Seb Haller (now left), Dwight Gayle, Karlan Grant, Matej Vydra, Danny Welbeck, Neal Maupay, Oli McBurnie, David McGoldrick, Billy Sharp, Aleksander Mitrovic, Wesley, Willian Jose, Fabio Silva, Iheanacho (until the last few matches). These are all strikers who have been playing regularly in the Premier League over the last two seasons, most of whom cost much more than Che, that I would not swap him for. So not sure how it can be determined that he’s ‘not Premier League level’. Even take someone like Ollie Watkins, who cost 3 times more than Che Adams, and has had huge plaudits all season and an England call up - he has only been involved in 3 more goals than Che, which includes a hat trick and a penalty, all whilst being fed by one of the most creative players in the league in Grealish (don’t think he’s scored a goal since he’s been injured). Think people need to temper their expectation of what level of player should be playing for Saints to be honest.
  9. And one we were absolutely shafted in and should’ve got at least a point from, we didn’t even play badly.
  10. Doesn’t Armstrong have a law degree? The ‘footballers are thick’ thing is a bit cliche, in an industry full of people who aren’t employed because of their intellectual ability, you’re going to have a few that are lacking. There’s plenty that aren’t, Patrick Bamford turned down a Harvard scholarship and speaks 5 languages and plays a number of instruments, a few have degrees, plenty have businesses.
  11. Brandon Williams surely will eventually be our first choice LB, it sounds like we’ve been begging for him for about a year now and we don’t seem to be desperate for Bertrand to extend his contract (which I think is a shame). Vestergaard always felt like one of our most saleable assets because we clearly didn’t expect him to be good this season, we signed Salisu and started the season with Stephens, so it’s been a bonus really and we will probably capitalise on that and be able to get a decent fee for him.
  12. He’s really improved with the ball at his feet, and really improved with coming off his line. He’s clearly made huge efforts to improve the parts of his game that were weakest, you can’t ask for more than that. He’s not perfect, but he’s worked hard to get better, and it’s really shown. I’m pleased for him.
  13. Graham Potter won something like 1 home game in a whole calendar year, and he’s still surviving. I personally am glad we have a club who don’t chop and change and are willing to back a longer term view - whether it works or not remains to be seen.
  14. We could really do with the 8mil from Lemina if Fulham stay up i’d imagine, so got to hope they do.
  15. Everyone saying we never beat Burnley are presumably discounting the fact that we won the previous game against them this season...
  16. Only ever seems to have any fitness issues when he’s either on duty with England, or been called up to the squad. Good lad.
  17. We’ve missed a creative player ever since Tadic left, we’ve not had anybody to thread a pass through a tightly packed defence. It used to make my head fall off watching Gabbi make great runs for 90 minutes whilst the likes of Hojbjerg would see it and bottle the pass. Eze would’ve been lovely last summer, glides past players but also has an eye for a pass, £20 mil too, shame.
  18. Yeah sorry that’s harsh on them I meant more that we haven’t had anyone that’s made everyone sit up and take note straight away (Shaw, Bale, Walcott, Ox etc). Agree that those you’ve listed have all looked like they could contribute something.
  19. I was really disappointed he didn’t come on against Bournemouth, and thought it said a lot. Hopefully his chance hasn’t passed, we haven’t brought through anyone decent for a while so it would be a shame if we lose him without getting to see if he’s any good.
  20. Obviously, hence why he plays for us. Do I think it’s a massive red flag to a team that spends 100’s of millions every year and has a squad full of players over 30mil that don’t play regularly? Probably not. City signing Ings for £30mil is basically the equivalent of Brighton signing Danny Welbeck on a free, you know he’s not going to be fit all the time but he’s probably worth having for when he can play.
  21. His two biggest numbers being his only two seasons in the Premier League where he was regularly fit. Scoring 11 for Burnley when they got relegated, and 22 for a Saints team that without him probably would be too, is not bad going. He will score goals for every team in this league, if he can stay fit.
  22. But on the flip side if you told City or (particularly) Spurs fans they could have a back up striker who outscored all their players in the league last season, i’m sure they’d be delighted. Both have struggled with finding a reliable alternative to their main striker for years, Ings would solve that problem.
  23. The City thing makes perfect sense to me. A club of their size/quality should have 3 good forwards to choose from, in reality once Aguero goes they don’t have any. Jesus isn’t good enough to rely on, so Ings and Haaland (or Kane) together would be good business. Not many proven goal scorers would sign to be back up to Kane/Haaland, but Ings probably would.
  24. I’d have John Lundstram to backup our CM’s too, gets up and down well, big and strong. Adds a bit of steel that we miss when Romeu is out.
