  1. Clyne to Bournemouth, another who thought the lights brighter at Liver. Or, perhaps he missed the weather.
  2. Sorry to read your sad news at this time of year Guided, hope your family are a comfort to you especially at this time of year.
  3. Anymore news on the Paul Mitchell situation?
  4. Telegraph Sport Football Ralph Hasenhuttl warns he has too many players ahead of January transfer window Ralph Hasenhuttl is not afraid to ruffle feathers at Southampton Ralph Hasenhuttl will judge who is up to the task of helping to save Southampton's season, and who is not, once January comes around. The Austrian manager has made waves in his first week at the club, warning his new team that the intensity level is going to be upped in an attempt to salvage their flailing Premier League campaign.* Ahead of their first training session on Friday, the manager said the players could expect him to be “very demanding” from the onset and suggested keeping up with the new pace could be a determining factor in the January transfer window. “I want to bring them to their limits,”*he explained. “If they like to go this way with us they are invited to, and when they follow us it will be an intensive, hard-working way. If someone says it is too much running or work for me they will fall very quick. That’s how I want to work until January and that’s when we look.” Will that mean losing certain players? “I don’t know. I think the squad is very big so we have a lot of positions where we have too much players and maybe one or the other is leaving and we bring something new. I have spoken with the chairman and they do everything to help my wishes.” For now though, with just one win in the league so far, Southampton are languishing down in the relegation zone and are facing an uphill struggle with five fixtures before the transfer window opens in the New Year, including against Arsenal and Manchester City. Hasenhuttl addressed the schedule realistically yet remained unfazed by the challenge, saying he aims to draw on the experience of taking Bundesliga 2 side Ingolstadt from the bottom of the league to a 10th place finish in 2013/14. "It’s about five years ago that I have taken over Ingolstadt. This experience helps me a lot," he said. "We were last after seven matches with four points. We had a little bit more time to train which was the good thing there. "The first target [at Southampton] is to get out of this relegation zone, it is tough with our schedule over Christmas. I am not frightened about it but the problem is we have a lot of games in the coming days." First up is a relegation battle of sorts away against Cardiff, who are two points ahead of Southampton. Looking ahead to Saturday, Hasenhuttl acknowledged his managerial debut in England would be against one of the EFL's more seasoned bosses in Neil Warnock.* "I know that he has a little bit more experience with games in England than I do, I think he’s a special character," he said. "What you can see in this team is they have a lot of automatism and play very physically and hard work against the ball, so they’re not easy to beat. It’s really a tough game for us and for me in the beginning, after a short time of training, so it will be very tough."
  5. They can hardly sing about “picking a pocket or two” that would be to obvious.
  6. Pogba.....how much? Pile of sh1te against Saints the other day.
  7. What about something to the tune of Chas and Dave’s “rabbit”. Along the lines of ‘He’s got style”
  8. This will be interesting. Have to agree with you Chez.
  9. The real culprit here is 1) the defence is horrible, and 2) lack of quality in the attacking mid position (ala Mane I note that although Fonte had to go, he still plays for Portugal and very successfully, he was a leader and a brilliant defender we should have him back to coach the defence. Les and Co shot themselves in the foot getting rid.
  10. We are now 18th, so yes in deep trouble. It has never been easy being a Saints supporter.
  11. It was bound to happen to Shaw, too much too soon and too young to understand. Pity for him.
  12. One of the many players who left who have gone downhill since leaving Southampton. Morgan is probably regretting his moves he never really made it anywhere else and I am sure we can name all of those who are in the same predicament. Next one downhill, Van Dijk.
  13. Really Johnny Boy are you totally stupid, ban someone posting because you don’t like it. Rascist, I hold a UK passport so can return whenever I please. Let’s hope they don’t let YOU go to Europe after end March 2019.
  14. I stand corrected...buctootim made the comment.
  15. Southampton, in my opinion has never employed decent architects. After it was heavily bombed over the years, architects have not been able to make a decent mark on the area as they have for example and dare I say in Portsmouth around the shopping area by the water (name escapes me). Southampton had their chances when they put up a similar area around the marina but it was so small it was something of nothing. The top area where Tyrell’s used to be is just a vast expanse of nothing. Outside of West Quay where it was bustling in Above Bar also looks grubby and littered with rubbish and down market shops. It’s a shame as Southampton had many opportunities to get things right but councillors, architects etc have failed miserably.
  16. I had heard that Woolston was being given a facelift? Never having lived over that area I don’t know it.
  17. Thank you, where I live is about 40 years behind the rest of Portugal. It’s actually starting to be spoilt by the arrival of young Germans, Dutch, Italian and French who are fed of of living in their own countries overrun with migrants. They have come to try their hand at surf hostels and are therefore changing the area and not for the best.
  18. Actually Guided, I thought that the majority of people in Shirley (cannot comment) for Eastern Southampton were Russians? That is people who live outside of The EU. If they are outside of the EU or indeed EU citizens they were not allowed to vote in the referendum. Romsey voted out.
  19. Thank you for your opinion on Portugal being a minor EU country. Exactly the reason a lot of Portuguese would like to leave. They survived before and would survive again. Also, you obviously do not realise that Portugal are the UKs oldest ally. With the marriage of Catherine de Braganza and Charles 1 bringing great wealth to the UK through her dowry. So yes, minor now but still in existence even though there are pompous Brits who know better and sneer as you do INIT, how very multi culty. I had no idea Hammonds still existed, when I was sat on the bus it was all shuttered up, even the signage could not be seen.
  20. You have a point regarding the fact that I live outside of the Uk that I know more. Others who have mentioned my being barred. Why, just because, I have a difference of opinion. I have never lived in Shirley and actually last time I passed through on the bus back from the glorious Win over Bournemouth saw how downhill shirley high street had gone. The place looked dirty, littered and a shadow of its former self from the late 70’s with fairly decent shops, grocers and butchers. There used to be a very good jeweller Hammonds I think.
  21. LOL clueless, lived in Algarve, Lisboa, Porto so not just Southampton all my life. And yes, corruption is rife. EU gives massive amounts of money to go into the back pockets of some of the actually quite a lot of the presidents of their councils here. Ex PM In prison for legging it to France who sheltered him with his chauffeur driving millions in euros northwards hilarious. Still, the EU keep giving millions for back pockets, corruption all around, no wonder it’s a cash economy.
  22. All the remainders moaning, when did they last live abroad, particularly live and work in Southern Europe. The UK is leaving, or will they?
  23. On your wages from the UK yes. How many average Portuguese do you find playing golf? Top nurse 1000 euros per month auxiliary 550 per month. Cash economy, you can see why.
  24. LOL when did you last live in Europe?
  25. Do you know Sherlock you haven’t a clue of how anyone lives in the EU. You probably go on your one or two week getaway once a year to beer ridden areas of Europe and how the average lived, no idea. By the way, I am not overweight due to eating in season veg and fruit not out of season tasteless ****e from Holland that hasn’t seen the sunshine. And, I work over here full time and do you know the average wage here in Portugal? 600 euros a month is what they are fighting for 600 could you live on that? Don’t use the excuse that life is cheaper here it doesn’t wash, cars here are the MOST expensive in Europe. Fuel is 3 cents a litre cheaper, electric most expensive in Europe. Trouble wi5 you people is you just do not have a clue about Europe not a f***ing clue.
