You don’t think that a large proportion of Reform supporters want “foreigners” out? No surprise there then. We really don’t need polls to tell us what Reform supporters want but to try and pretend that they are not what they are, good luck with that.

Did anyone say that in 1976?

Nothing dodgy here at all… “Donald Trump’s son, Barron Trump, reportedly made a stunning $30 million oil purchase just 48 hours before tensions with Iran erupted into open hostilities—an investment that is now drawing intense global attention. The timing has raised eyebrows as the energy market faces massive disruptions. Qatar has declared a state of emergency and halted gas production, while Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has threatened to cut off gas supplies to Europe. At the same time, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard claims control over the critical Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes. Meanwhile in Washington, political tensions are also rising. Congress has voted to block President Trump from ordering new military strikes, yet the Pentagon is pushing ahead with a $50 billion funding request following the loss of nearly $2 billion in military equipment. On the battlefield, the human cost continues to climb. A recent U.S. strike reportedly sank an Iranian warship, leaving around 150 people missing. In another dramatic development, Russia is said to be preparing to secure Iranian nuclear sites after losing contact with Tehran’s nuclear leadership. With Saudi oil storage nearing full capacity and global markets on edge, Barron Trump’s massive oil investment has fueled debate about the intersection of private financial moves and a rapidly escalating geopolitical crisis.”

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
sadoldgit replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Both “weak” and “inspiring?” Not sure how that works? Anyway, standing up to Trump is not being “weak.” Taking decisions which are unpopular is not being “weak.” It has been a long time since we have had a PM that looks like a grown up on the international scene. If you want “weak” people, take a look at Trump and Farage. Anyone who gives in to base instincts is not a strong person. Bullies are not strong. They are weak. The people you support are weak. You are weak. It takes strength to do the right thing. Something you know nothing about. -

Everyone far right? I only label those as far right who spout far right rhetoric or who support those who spout far right rhetoric. -
Perhaps the same fate awaits Trump? Oh wait, bone spurs.

Look up stuff about the King of Cyrus. Some evangelists believe that Trump has been put on earth by God to either to give Israel more security in their promised land or as a precursor to the Second Coming and the Apocalypse. The fact that Trump is as Godless as they come, these people get round that by saying that it makes his presence more powerful, given that he is a non believer (…no, me neither 🤷🏻). Netanyahu has made some of these claims about Trump. There should be no doubt that there are batshit crazy Christian fundamentalists just as there are in other religions. The comparison of Donald Trump to the ancient Persian King Cyrus (Cyrus the Great) is a prominent, largely metaphorical narrative within some Evangelical Christian and right-wing Israeli circles, rather than a literal belief in reincarnation . Haaretz +1 Proponents of this view, often called the "Cyrus Prophecy," argue that like Cyrus—who allowed the Jewish people to return to Jerusalem and rebuild their temple despite not being a follower of their faith—Trump acts as a "vessel" or "anointed" agent of God to support Israel and advance Christian values, even if his personal behavior is considered un-Christian. The Guardian +2 Key Aspects of the "Trump as Cyrus" Comparison: Support for Israel: The comparison gained traction in 2017 after Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital and moved the U.S. embassy, actions viewed by supporters as comparable to Cyrus’s decree in the Bible. The "Vessel" Theology: Many Evangelicals reconcile Trump's character flaws with their support by arguing that God often uses unconventional, non-believing leaders to fulfill divine purposes. "King Cyrus of our Time":Supporters have hailed Trump with this title, particularly following events like the Gaza ceasefire and the Abraham Accords, arguing he is a protector of Jewish and Christian interests. Religious/Prophetic Significance: Some supporters, such as Pastor Lance Wallnau, popularised the idea that Trump was raised for a specific, "prophetic" moment in history.

More craziness… “This is INSANE. Military commanders told troops Trump was "anointed by Jesus" to start the apocalypse in Iran, according to over 200 complaints. Since Saturday, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation has been flooded with complaints from service members in every branch of the armed forces. By Tuesday, the number exceeded 200 complaints spanning more than 50 military installations. The through line is the same every time: commanding officers are telling troops this war is biblically ordained and the bloodshed is necessary to fulfill Christian prophecy. One noncommissioned officer reported that during a combat readiness briefing, their commander told the room everything happening in Iran was part of God's divine plan, complete with citations from the Book of Revelation. The commander reportedly had a grin on his face while delivering the message. The complaint was filed on behalf of 15 troops. Eleven of them are Christian. This is not about offended atheists. These are believers who know the difference between faith and apocalyptic war propaganda. MRFF founder Mikey Weinstein said commanders are not just invoking prophecy but are actively excited about how violent the conflict needs to become to align with end-times theology. Military leaders are reportedly thrilled at the prospect of maximum bloodshed because they think it brings Jesus back. This didn't come from nowhere. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth launched monthly Christian worship services at the Pentagon last summer and recently invited Doug Wilson, a Christian nationalist pastor who opposes women's right to vote, to lead one. At a recent convention, Hegseth declared that advancing the administration's agenda is "not political" but "biblical." Weinstein warned that when Christian nationalism infiltrates the institution that controls nuclear weapons and armed drones, it is an immediate threat to global security. Two hundred service members risked their careers to sound this alarm. The question is whether anyone with the power to act is listening.”

For starters when the Tories in 2010 took over they didn’t inherit the kind of shit show that Labour have handed to them. You were not on this forum in the early 2010s (and maybe not even born) so how do you know what people were posting then? As for double standards, it would be good if you could find any level of something that could be called a standard. -
What is fake? The fact that none of Trump and his inner circle of geniuses (according to you) can agree on why the US started shooting? The only one that made any logical sense is the one that said that Israel told them they were going in and the US had to jump on board because they knew their bases would come under fire in retaliation. Tell me as you know so much. What happened to the attack that “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear capabilities? If you want to start a thread about Obama and Biden please do. This thread is about Trump. You sound more and more like a Trump every day nic.

How many different reasons have they given for starting the war so far? The getting your retaliation in first is a classic! It looks very much like Trump has been bounced into it by Netanyahu who must think that (if he was a Christian) all of his Christmas’s have come at once. Putin will love it too as it will take resources and focus away from his own expansionist plans. Trump is proving to be more than Useful Idiot to both of them. He is becoming more of an embarrassment to the US and a liability to the rest of the world as each day passes. The spoilt brat response when he didn’t get the real Nobel peace price, that he had given up on peace, has proven to be true. The only issue now is how much damage can he do to world peace before the US comes to its senses and removes the buffoon from power? Will his rhetoric move from how many wars he thinks he has ended to how many new ones he is starting?

It concluded on Sunday night. A hard watch but brilliantly done and remained fairly faithful to the book. The actors, mostly unknown kids, were excellent, especially the guy who played Piggy.

There was a great quote recently from a Congresswoman. She said that Netanyahu has been trying for years to persuade American presidents to attack Iran. He has now found one dumb enough to actually do it.
