  1. One of the Sunday papers: I personally think he would be a good bench option only at 6m. Everton, Liverpool and Southampton are all in the hunt for Arouna Kone Everton didnt finish in the top four last season because they didnt have a goalscorer. 9th June 2013 By Clive Hetherington and Carl Eldridge SOUTHAMPTON and Liverpool will attempt to hijack Roberto Martinezs move to take Wigan striker Arouna Kone to Everton. Martinez, confirmed last week as David Moyes successor at Goodison after quitting the relegated Latics, wants Kone, 29, to follow him to the Toffees. But he faces competition from Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers while Saints supremo Mauricio Pochettino is ready to jump in and make a bid for the Ivory Coast star. Kone signed a three-year deal when Martinez lured him from Spanish side Levante for 2.5million last August but the forward is reported to have a 6.5m release clause in that contract. He grabbed 13 goals including two against Everton last season. Martinez is also poised to take midfielders Callum McManaman and James McCarthy, both 22, plus forward Shaun Maloney and free agent centre-back Antolin Alcaraz, both 30, from the DW Stadium in a bid to boost Evertons chances of qualifying for the Champions League. And Martinez has been told by former Goodison boss Joe Royle that he must recruit a proven scorer if he is to make that dream happen. Royle reckons Everton need somebody who guarantees goals. He said: We need more ammo up front if were to go for a Champions League place. Everton didnt finish in the top four last season because they didnt have a goalscorer. Nikica Jelavic and Victor Anichebe looked like they could be the answer at times but neither has made the step up.
  2. Guys it's a lovely day today, get outside and enjoy it!
  3. Take this with a massive pinch of salt as I would not know the name of the source as its been passed on. Although I can say whoever has this snippet is employed in the coaching setup. We have targetted a great striker as our top priority however if we don't get him then our 2nd option is to take Torres for 18m from Chelsea (no idea if the player is interested) The two that have been agreed are two Spanish 22 year olds (no idea who) and Pooch is chasing a special Portuguese player which I have no idea where he plays or what position. There you go..... pinch of salt, remember. Anyone heard the same?
  4. Seriously how does one know who our scouts are looking at if they are in attendance? I remember a time when Strachan was watching a game between West Ham & Saints with the rumours being he was going to become WHU new manager. A day later we sacked our manager and he was installed straight away. (was it Stuart Gray?)
  5. United could get first option on Shaw perhaps? So much goes on in football that we don't hear about and anything is possible these days.
  6. Got the impression that its costing aap3 too much money to continue with us as they had no idea we would get back to back promotions. Not so much as us buying them out but aap3 pulling out.
  7. Told you a while back that he was carrying an injury and was being forced to play at 85% because we had nobody else. I expect an operation will clear the problem for the start of the new season.
  8. Close up of our new away kit says Adam.
  9. Got me thinking that the best signings we have done in the Cortese era are British players? As this is the case then who do we have planned for next season?
  10. A cheap sensible option as you don't want to bring in a 7m rated left back as Shaw can clearly stake his claim for that position next season. Same goes for the defensive midfielder (Verdu pn a freebie) this leaves you with some great players in Lens, Lopez and Astori that will take most of our budget.
  11. Adkins and Pooch for the manager of the year award I guess?
  12. Yes that's a silly video.
  13. Top 4 Chelski Liverpool Man Utd Arsenal 10th Saints Bottom 5 Everton Norwich + 3 promoted teams.
  14. Keep an eye out for me? well I may put a call out for you on the tannoy once I get used to the controls of the plane your in Kp
  15. No I'm going up there as I will be doing my maiden flight as a pilot. Wish me luck as I will be bricking myself.
  16. I think we already have a Jesus at the club so this would make it a 2nd, other than Oslund have we had any other religious names before?
  17. Shame it was not done earlier as he could of been good cover for Shaw instead of Fox.
  18. Is Pooch leaving for the Man Utd job?
  19. Johnson is going to be alright as they took him off as a precaution. He's the one player that we really need to fear as I've seen them on TV twice recently and he makes it all happen on the right flank.
  20. Needs to have a good pre season to have any chance of starting next season. I feel he will be down the pecking order when we buy some quality players, certainly one for the cup matches.
  21. Not bothered what happens with him, if he stays then a pre season with Pooch will help him grow another lung, if he goes then we get someone else in that should take us to another level. IMHO if he goes then its our management teams choice not the player.
  22. Oh dear, and there's me thinking Clyne has not scored. I honestly don't remember this goal
  23. I admit to remember those against us, Jerome in the last minute, Cisse at the toon, Bale last week. Ouch.
  24. What a fantastic praise in that link.
  25. There is no such thing as a dead cert win for any team, Arsenal could suffer a virus in the camp, have a **** ref, batter the Wigan goal but let them break up the other end to score? Does anyone ever remember Saints vs Rochdale a few years back? Little Rochdale vs Saints, a team that had won many home games against a team where you could not name one player, pah you even have a '76 cup match to prove it when Stokes scored. Southampton who? said one Utd player. Lets just win on Saturday please.
