Yeah he's sprained his ankle apparently.
-
Finnigan is a CDM and has been training with the first team for the last 6 weeks or so. Supposed to be quite highly rated. Might as well give him a go.
-
I am certainly not an advocate of trying to play CB's in CDM but it's got so bad I wouldn't actually mind giving Lyanco a go in there. At least he has a bit of mobility and is decent enough on the ball. Only if there's two ahead of him though, it would be a disaster in a 4-4-2 for example.
-
He was terrible off the ball against Brighton. He had no idea whether to press or stand off. When he did press it was totally half arsed. Whether that was down to him or the managers instructions who knows. Either way he just sums us up as a club at the moment.
-
WTF a new centre back is the least of our worries. As for re-calling Bednarek, please god no.
-
Pretty sure he's been one of their best players this season. He would walk into our team, even at 34. There is no doubt about it.
-
His confidence is totally shot. He has potential but will make mistakes due to his experience. We can't afford that though. Sadly our other options are probably just as bad. What a shit show it's become. No adequate striker, keeper or CDM. What chance have we got?
-
JWP must be one of the most overrated players I've seen. He's not even a good captain.
-
I think it's time Armstrong was benched. It's true we don't really have a proper alternative but Mara clearly has some technical ability, although he can't hold the ball up and doesn't do a great deal of work off it. Having said that, those are two of Che's main attributes so if they played up top together it may not matter as much.
-
For me a DM has to be a priority along with a striker.
-
I've noticed that KWP actually looks more threatening in a back 4.
-
The fact that we immediately looked better with Walcott in his position speaks volumes and with that being the case, Adam Armstrong should retire right now.
-
Glad he bagged a couple tonight but he just had to get his usual cock up infront of goal in at the end! His hold up play was first class yet again though.
-
In general play. He wins a lot more aerial duels than he used to. But yes his heading infront of goal is a different story.
-
Adams is very strong and has actually improved a fair bit in the air. I don't think Armstrong would be effective if he played alongside Messi/Ronaldo, let alone Victor Gyokeres.
-
Totally agree with this.
-
Surely it's time JJ Morgan gets a genuine chance with the first team? Yet another hatrick tonight.
-
I think I've read elsewhere that managers rarely get the whole amount and generally settle for less? Not sure if I've made that up or not.
-
Agree with this. We need a proper finisher to compliment Che and someone who can create chances. Hopefully this spells the end of Adam Armstrong. I'm sure teams from the Championship would be interested.
-
This is the sort of player we should be after. Decent finisher and has good experience in a top league. Didn't have the best season last year but as you say, he's scored 10 goals already this season.
-
He should've done better on the first one today but he did make some decent saves. It's certainly not the biggest issue we have, that's for sure.
-
It was out of Adams and Lavia for me. Che edges it though - scored the goal and his hold up play was as good as usual.
-
Bazunu; Perraud, Salisu, ABK, AMN; Lavia, JWP, Aribo; S.Armstrong, Edozie, Adams. Tough call between Elyounoussi or Edozie. I don't rate Elyounoussi but can see why he would play in this particular game. Edozie played well on Wednesday night and does deserve a start.

Saints 1-1 (p6-5) Sheffield Wednesday - Match Thread

Edozie, Perraud and Caleta-Car were decent. I've seen Mara a few times now and he looks extremely lightweight and always just looks like he's jogging around. Can't hold it up at all either. He's no where near Che's level unfortunately. The less said about Adam Armstrong the better.
