  1. well we are oh so better off now
  2. If you really believe that with a far left government we could borrow money at a sensible rate. As soon as he got in the credit ratings agencies would drop our A rating and so all our borrowing would go up. We already have so much debt its crippling, hence austerity. I dont know how old you are but if you can recall the days when such things were nationalised then you might think differently. It was a complete mess, as all things there was a lack of investment and the government just couldn't fund it. The small profits in real terms that the rail franchises get is nothing in real trms if that was channelled into trying to improve the railways Read this little snippet yesterday The Labour leader is set to unveil a pledge to create 400,000 skilled jobs by building thousands more wind turbines, insulating millions of homes – and installing a solar panel on every roof in the UK Yep more spending that would cost untold millions/billions, adding nothing to the economy except more imports, add to that I own a Grade 2 listed home, It will look lovely with its array of solar panels on the roof. Destroying our beautiful villages with those monstrosities. Typical toadying policies to the left at the party conference.
  3. Do you really think lenders are going to lend money to a Government that A. has a far left leaning government and B. to that government that has is stealing assets back from the owners, some of whom may already have interests in them At present we have a fairly good credit rating, but watch the money pour out as soon as we get a sniff of that lot coming in.
  4. Perhaps but he is a poor pundit

  6. Why are they closing?
  7. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Thames_frost_fairs imagine the furore if this happened now. The media would whip us into a frenzy.
  8. I’m so glad I could say hello to you when we saw each other in the Northam MB. Top man. I don’t go much these days sadly as business commitments hold me back. But hopefully we’ll bump into each other at a game in the future
  9. yep but at least the brainless will be away from here for a week
  10. I sometimes tune in after match to listen to the aftermath summaries on Solent. The positive impact of John Williams who is so pro Bournemouth compared to the negative and constant negatives Merringotn puts is like chalk and chees. Bournemouth could lose 5-0 and Williams adds positives, whereas Merrinton hardly ever gives upbeat summaries. He is so dour and negative. About time we had someone reviewing Saints in a more positive way that lifts the depressed fan base after a game.
  11. There is little or no optimism when you look at our squad. Ross Wilson must be the worst judge of a player when he has all the information put in front of him. It baffles me that it seems we buy players who are pedestrian , not athletic or have any pace. I know that the other clubs have been handed our best players on a plate , but the whole Southampton way is now forgotten, where we had a conveyor belt of players to take the place of talent that leaves. It must be down to a terrible back room staff who I assume have been hand picked by Reed, and they are not capable of seeing talent around the world.
  12. bollix
  13. No the keeper was the major culprit os he didnt do the simple take of the ball. The defender was at fault for not holding the line, but that would not have been the issue if the keeper had done his job. You can always point to more than one factor when letting in a goal, but normally there is one glaring mistake, and on this it was McCarthy
  14. The defenders were holding the line , if all had kept the line the Brighton players would have been offside, unfortunately Vestergaard moved backwards and then they had the run on th rest of the defenders. That doesn't gloss over that it was a basic catch for a keeper. He had the whole of the box empty at time of the ball being played and only had to come out and collect the ball. He doesn't usually shy away from coming and punching, on this occasion it was a massive mistake
  15. Hi Mate, pleased to see your return, Im sorry to see what you went through and hopefully you can move on now.
  16. One was a defender the other a forward. I watched it and came to the same judgement as the 2 players. If you had watched Sky's analysis you would Im sure agree that he should have taken it. The game changed on that moment and for the first time since he as been inthe team I have blamed McCarthy.
  17. Clearly replied by someone who may of played in goal but frigging useless. Watch the professionals talking about it last night on Sky, they absolutely panned McCarthy and showed the world with their assessment what a poor mistake it was. So get back into your box and leave it to people who actually know about movement of the ball and being in the correct position
  18. He was on the6 yard line when the kick was taken and then he retreated back to his line as the ball came across, the header was about 7-8yards out, if he had kept his position he would have easily dealt with it. The idea of our defenders on the 18yard line is to gice all that space for him to collect or collect the ball. He was at fault and however you dress it up he was to blame.
  19. Last night Carragher said that people in the game say we are are a bottom part of the league in the reklegation fight, well if his poxy club didnt keep taking our players we wouldnt be like that.
  20. I like McCarthy but his mistake for the first goal by not coming for the ball cost us an easy victory last night.
  21. Hughes has inherited a poor squad. The fans get edgy when we are close to getting a result and this transmits to the players. When we were on our rise back up we were more relaxed,it is just in the last season or so that we have gone back to the bad old days
  22. I heard the Pomey fans crowing about taking 2500fns, Im pretty sure we took that many to an evening game there.
  23. your user name is apt Pond life. Funny how you Pompey fans only come here when things are rosy. Come back once you've lost a few games in a row.
  24. So you are saying it was an annoyed business partner who sent these 2, or our own security people?? This Novichok must be easy to get hold of.
  25. I had the same on FB . It was pretty funny what you put up and I took it
