  1. Duncan but the stories of GB were out there to serve the purpose of the anti Burley brigade at the time. I know for a fact as well that GB did like a drink, but you and I also know that many players over the years did so. If they were a hero it didn't serve the purpose to unveil those, would we ever have won the FA cup is Ossies fun and games were uncovered in those days etc etc etc. The drinking thing was only a tool to bash GB with because some fans wanted him gone. He was managing us at a terrible time with so much going on in the background, tough thing to do. No wonder he was drinking .
  2. he is a15 m horrific player. You can't just let him go on a free surely? He is still a decnt footballer and mist have a value somewhere.
  3. when RL was asked at the airport about leaving for Liverpool the reporter asked him about the other 2joining him
  4. Why have you the Captain of the Titanic as your avatar?
  5. The non disclosure of fees perhaps alludes to something, a cloaked asset strip. Sell 70m of players and shell out 20m or less. I hope Iam wrong but if the club think. McQueen Reed etc will just slot in to the rigours of the PL then the club is delusional. At present we have only lost 3 players who could be replaced, add MS DL and then we desperate y need to invest in some quality. How long will Koeman stick this out if our perceived lack of ambition stops players joining ?
  6. Players leave clubs all the time, but not quite at the rate they could well be with us
  7. quite the modest new poster I do hope your first name is not Low. Welcome to the bored
  8. probably, if you believe that most on here when asked a couple of years ago would put Athletico and Dortmund above the likes of Barce and RM, etc then it must only be me. I dont look at attendances and think that they must be the first team on my mind. Newcastle must be bigger than Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea as they have paltry attendances in comparison
  9. thanks LetsB.
  10. I said when MP left that we would finish just above the relegation places. At present that may be downgraded unless we find some decent players to join us and the club put a stop to the players leaving. A cynic may think this is a cloaked firesale, the come and get me statement and then the players not for sale unless we get top prices is not the position of a club with serious intentions IMO KPTurners post is the most apt IMO
  11. where did it say they were minnows? It was if most on here were to name clubs from either league until a few seasons back I doubted those 2 would be on the list
  12. probably my bad on the team i was thinking of, there was a German team who went from rags to riches a couple of seasons ago, perhaps it was wolfsberg but they took on the big boys and really tugged on the top clubs tail. My point being of course if they can do it so why couldnt NC and Ml have the same vision/
  13. I have been told in the past the biggest bullies are the ones who are bullied in their life. It seems to me you must have a really bullied world outside of this forum because all you do is try to bully people out of their right to have a view. it is funny to recall your post of indignation when somebody gave yu a seeing to,something on the lines of 'iDont belittle my viewpoint blah blah blah' I can't be bothered to go back and find it , but it was a golden post. You add to this forum sometimes but you don't half try and bully people off their rightful viewpoint
  14. Well until a couple of seasons ago if you asked most on here to name 3teams from Germany or Spain neither of those would be in many peoples minds. They still have the disadvantage of teams with massive reputations and history in front of them. There is nothing wrong in ML and NC believing and putting in a mindset into our club and staff that we could compete. I tell you what CB you go and see how many decent players we will get when Reed tries to sell the club to incoming players of a relegation struggle club, who will let themselves be blackmailed all the time. Personally I was delighted we had NC at the top who didn't listen to people whose intention was to destabilise the club. Yep we are so lucky that now he has gone we have our stripes back, a book is now on sale in the clubs shop and Frannie can now strut around again. We've got our club back alright, just as I remember it under Wilde and co
  15. don't kid yourself that if they were going to get less £££££,s they would be in such a headlong rush to leave and their agents even less keen. The chance of CL and titles is an added bonus
  16. shouldnt this be on the Liverpool forum? He's gone and we have to look elsewhere for heroes.
  17. Lets see how much we spend. IMO we are a playing a game of smoke and mirrors where we make noises to spend a lot but will spend a fraction of the money we take in,I do hope to be proved wrong
  18. did NC say we were going to win the CL? Many oh here are happy to accept mediocrity (Me also, as i want stability and understand our limitations of the club) ML and NC did not have those low expectations.People forget it seems that ML had total trust in NC and they had a bond. In business I have seen many people whose siblings were never as smart or business savvy and the wealth lost. So far i have not seen brilliant business decisions since ML passed away. To me NC turned a 13m asset into a 100m asset. This time next season we may be back to a 50m asset. NC IMO had a desire and confidence that he could turn the club into a force, (he may of been wrong of course)and that could well have transmitted as he got the better players to either sign long contracts or indeed sign for us. He may have cancelled a book order (again there could be valid reasons) but he drove our football club to a level that we had not envisaged some time ago. I doubt Dortmund fana or Athletico fans really believed they would reach the heights either
  19. the problem is that any player we are looking to buy will be looing and seeing our squad decimated. To somebody outside would then perhaps think they were joining a relegation threatened season and may look at other offers. Perhaps NC vision he used to get some decent players to join is now not being used and Reed etc cannot persuade quality to come here. The next fortnight will show how much NC's departure has hurt us. I accept some players would have left for big wages but all of them???
  20. Very continental looking, perhaps a Dutch/Swiss input. I personally prefer last seasons. Oh for the days with no sponsor on the front
  21. Was it not rumour about RL going to WHU I have not seen any evidence. personally i would have RL finished his career with us, but if we are going to get 4mplus for him and at his age then it was decent business.
  22. I understand Lovren wanting to move after 11months, he arrived with the club buoyant and on the up, then within months the man who sold the club to him and a lot of the best players as well. i agree with CB fry that added to that if the chance of earning massive wages you would have your head turned. Lovrens quality and importance to us is far more that 20m.
  23. Is Adam trying out his 'Calm. Down, calm down' technique . Why not a picture of him celebrating with the fans after scoring, a really odd choice
  24. to keep high quality players would send a message to players joining us that we have a decent core.Selling all the best will mean any decent payers will not want to join
  25. were we going to buy Colin bell all those years ago ? if so I didnt know that
