Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)
OldNick replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Lounge
Oh, and OldNick, since no one has replied: I do fly, on occasion, when needed for work and holiday. I also usually drive to work, although I also occasionally walk as well. If that makes me a hypocrite, I won't argue the point. However, I'd say the truth (or lack thereof) of ACC, is not affected by my personal choices. The fact that I don't contribute to Oxfam, does not prove children are not starving in Africa, but merely that I'm a tit. Further, I find litter disgusting, and support fines for littering, rather than just a plea that anyone who objects to litter stop and those that don't keep on. Does that help? Hokie, I appreciate your honest reply. I desperately hope global warming is man made and that we can reverse it, as I cherish my grand-daughters future. I have read the passionate posts by the people who believe it is man made, but then am surprised that those same people have not changed their lives and habits. I assume the lack of replies would suggest that there are many warning us of foreboding but I when the push comes to shove they don't have the real belief and character to follow their convictions. It is easy to sit and preach and then do nothing to change their own lives, but then expect the government to do something instead. I see the generation coming through talking the big game but when push comes to shove they don't do anything. I was at school during the power strikes, the constant threat of 'oil will run out in 20 years' paper and sugar shortages, and still turn the light out when I leave the room. The young now, drive everywhere ,expect cheap air travel and buy throw away furniture clothes etc. it is all mealy mouthed, let others take the pain action. Ps I don't think you are a tit,but very honest and realise your shortcomings -
I just looked at the match stats and Scunny had 17 shots of which 12 were on target, Pompey had 6 shots and 2 on target . One hell of a Cup final performance by Scunny

nail on head. I find it amusing that many of KDs biggest critics just brush away massive changers by Boruc. I repeat. I accept Boruc as No 1 but the hypocrisy of some on here is laughable
-
terrible, laughable if it was another sides keeper
-
well bad news lets you make threads GS ,so enjoy
-
no he was very casual regrding the ball coming at him at Stoke. he has made another error, also if KD has passed the ball to Wanyama in trouble against Hull there would be daggers out for him. I accept all player make mistakes and Boruc will earn us more points than he costs us and so he is No.1 in my book

I think man does have an influence on the earths climate, but only in a small way. I have asked but have yet to have a reply , are you going on foreign holidays, do you watch partake in motor racing and do you walk to work etc. Nobody as yet has answered. It is all very well proclaiming about climate change and expect governments to do something, but you have to vote with your feet. I don't see much voting from here -

if the pictures were the other way around, I suspect the global warming lobby would be over it like a rash. Am I right saying that the ozone layer has now repaired? Something. I was under the impression that was irreparable. Ps all the global warming camp On here I assume will not be flying abroad on holiday and walking/cycling to work everyday -
you are not wrong.

We are a hiding to nothing on this one. It will be their cup final, we will be expected to roll them over big time ,while they have nothing to lose. A narrow 1goal victory or a defeat IMO. The club will not play any high profile players and it is a bit sad for us if this game is such a big thing. Yes, I would lik to win big but to make it something that it is not is a bit odd

I recent history they have the upper hand. They beat us twice 4-1 , the first was upsetting the 2nd was by default. I doubt either had the same feeling for them as Morans last minute winner at FP. There they were singing about coming to the dell the next they were crying and very very silent as they melted away at the final whistle. Let them have their moment as deep down they know ,like the FA cup win it will be in dispute forever. Steve Moran, last minute goal due to one of their morons throwing a coin that gave us that little extra time for that most wonderful football feeling. I was there when we won the FA cup,but for the adrenaline rush that goal beats the lot for me. Unless you were I doubt you'd understand what I'm on about. Going to an away match at your biggest rivals with 6500 Saints fans and scoring a last minute winner is unforgettable. The closest they ever got was the minute equaliser they got at SMS but without the ongoing wage bill and debt

Is it the trolls Christmas party already?

I went to Bellemoor school with Kev before we moved away. A friend is married to his sister who is also a friend. Very sad news. A very decent man and a very good goalkeeper when I knew him RIP

. I agree the chairman has been pretty foolish but HR has also bought in plenty of players who will be on massive wages. It is not just the transfer fee. Jeans on 50k a week,Haim and Samba ,Austin, and others would be on massive salaries, so he is part of it yet again. When he was at Saints RL would not let him spend and so he was shown up. The squad he inherited when he came to us should have stayed up easily, HR was unable to get them to play, he needs to buy plenty of players in the hope some come good. If he fails to get QPR up this season it will be a major surprise as he has a very good squad to choose from.

Samba was on 100k a week, Caesar the keeper 90k pw , Park Jim Sung 70k pw and Jenas is on 50k pw ffs. Whilst they have got rid of 11 players they have signed 8 shiny new ones. Apparently their wage bill in the relegation season was over 90m with income at 65m!!!

Reported today that QPR may face a £60m fine due to the financial fair play rules. Good old Harry, I wonder if he will get an intro commission lol How many clubs has he left in financial turmoil now?
