  1. Can I suggest you guys carry on this "discussion" in the Muppet forum please.
  2. Gets a cautious thumbs up from me. Has experience, young enough to retain ambition and drive, and bearing mind we are a Div 1 club appointing a former Premier Manager, as good as can be expected.
  3. Now 6/4 on
  4. On this one Tony Adams is not among the favourites. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/southampton-specials/next-permanent-manager
  5. I don't. Duncan's source on these matters is very good. Things can change but so far events seem to be supporting his sources information.
  6. Whilst I am worried that time is not on our side if we are going to hit the ground running on the opening day of the season, I am encouraged that our new owner and his management team are not going to make a rash and uninformed decision. There are plenty of options and it looks like they are going to make sure they get the right person for the job in hand. All this talk of possible offers being turned down and who is favourite for the job is pure speculation. I suggest they will be taking advice from respected parts of the industry, sounding out candidates, looking at past records, considering coaching and leadership skills and only then drawing up a short list of prospective managers to interview. This has to be about a long term association. We must get away from the ever changing managerial position by getting back our stability and family culture.
  7. I am with GM on this. It had to be said in my opinion and providing we can now all move on, the die hards and the boycotters, and unite in the present and future there is nothing wrong with his post.
  8. This is where I got it from http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/southampton-specials/next-permanent-manager Strange?
  9. I can only find odds on Sky at present set at: Gordon Strachan 7/4 Steve Coppell 7/2 Darren Ferguson 20 Alan Pardew 20 K Keegan 25 Matt Le Tissier 25 Tony Adams 25 Where are posters getting Adams as Fav?
  10. Much better post than the last one on this subject John. It is all about family values and I agree with your opinion on the probable way forward.
  11. Had not read that Phil and thanks for putting it on this thread. Good post Sue
  12. No, I know nothing, just my opinion
  13. Best, Law, Charlton and Kidd were all class in that era. Mind you we were not a bad side either. Nice to see the highlightes again. We used to call Sydenham the "road runner" for those who remember the cartoon of that era. You are right though WC different game now but that can be said about most sports.
  14. Saints is his first choice at present.
  15. A few weeks ago we did not know if we would have a club to support at the beginning of the new season. We were all hoping for a buyer to come in. Well, we now have that new owner with more money than we could ever hope for. OK, I appreciate that he will not let us spend beyond our divisional position but that I see as positive as well. We are on a firm footing and no stupid spending. We will grow and with each success we know there will be money to help us at each new level New management structure at all parts is good news as well, as is the pricing structure for season tickets. Sensibly priced to make sure our income will help balance the books. Yet still a number of supporters moan about the possible choice of Team Manager. If we have faith in all the above then let them make a judgement call on that as well and give our whole hearted support to whoever they choose. Some have said WGS was at SMS and that fuelled hopes of him as Manager. I suspect he is being paid a small consultancy fee to assist with the choice or may be he is being lined up as sporting director? Tony Adams would not be my first choice but if that is what our new owner and his team want than let's give them and him a chance. After all we are only a 3rd tier club at present and stability has to come before ambition.
  16. Absolutely
  17. Agree with your post Phil. He was just not good enough. I will say no more than that!
  18. All Adam wants to do is play football. He is still not fully fit from his medial ligament tear on last day at Notts Forest. I had this from his family last night when I made contact. Give the lad a break. It was his first season in first team football.
  19. Lol, The person who told me does not post on TSW and AO reads only. He has never posted. Thought it funny when he left that he was still reading us. May be now we know why. Well done AO.
  20. Interesting Jan becasue I was told of his possible involvement a few weeks ago. I was told by someone with connections to SMS that when Oldknow worked there he had registered to TSW. If that is correct and the name that person gave me is correct he regularly logs into this site including today. And in case anyone asks on here or by PM, no I will not release his registered name. I have not disclosed it to anyone before and will not now. Anyway, I could be wrong but it is beginning to add up!
  21. I will drink your health sir.
  22. There was me thinking I could get away from all this in Banavie but no, even up here they have wireless connection!!!!!
  23. Try the bin......but I think you knew that
  24. All this means absolutely nothing unless it happens. I cannot get excited after all that has gone before. Let's wait and see and not make prats of ourselves by posting over hype statements.
  25. If you do put in a bit I bet it would end up a damp squib.
