  1. I have spoken to him a couple of times. Quiet but effective man. On Wednesday I met a friend at the ground who has cerebral palsy, but a bright chap. His father asked me if Duncan Fletcher was at the ground so he could sign his book which he was reading. I got a message to Duncan asking if he would sign it if I collected the same. Next thing I know he had left the dressing room, went down to where my friend was sitting near the club shop chatted and signed his book. I thanked Duncan that evening and he said he was only to pleased to do so. Dressing room have a lot of admiration for him as well.
  2. I spoke to an ex Director last week who was pretty certain it was Crouch who paid the "pinnacle" deposit. This fits with information I was given previously about a certain account where the money came from and who the signatory of that account was. Incidently he also confirmed that some of those with past connections to SLH were looking to take a box this season. Lowe was not one of them, many will be pleased to know.
  3. Spoke to Dimi after the game. He is fine. Slight cut behind the ear, that is all.
  4. She said she was to Um Pahars on Saturday when he had fixed on her
  5. Well done Pilchards. Great reports. Gives us supporters some hope after years of pure rubbish on match days.
  6. What a strange comment. I think you misunderstand me.
  7. Today, Sunday, is a 50 over game with an interesting Hampshire group. Riazuddin, Wood and Vince all in action again with the two umpires, John Holder and Steve Malone, both past Hampshire players officiating. Riazuddin captains the side again who won the opening one dayer and won the test series 1-0 http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/current/match/383277.html
  8. Just done mine by paypal.
  9. I had problems with McMememy's interference in club affairs when Crouch was "in charge". However I have no problem with him attending matches in the Directors box as a guest of the club, recognising his massive positive contribution to our history. I put up the original post as I saw it as unfinished business that has now been cleared up by the link. We are now in a new era. The positives and negatives of the past have happened. Let's hope the clubs new era contains more positives than negatives. I watched yesterdays's game. I was disappointed at our overall tactics and lack of quality but with Pardew taking over now, with a little strengthening and an inprovement in our fitness levels I see this as the bottom of the curve. The only way is up in my opinion.
  10. Rupert Lowe: Our report, Southampton down to their nails as more anguish looms (27 April, page 9, Sport) wrongly suggested that the Football Association was conducting an investigation into where a reported £40m had gone missing when Mr Lowe was chairman of Southampton FC. In fact there was no missing money nor any FA investigation. We apologise unreservedly to Mr Lowe for this error. http://www.guardian.co.uk/theguardian/2009/jul/18/rupert-lowe-corrections-clarifications http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/apr/27/southampton-burnley-championship-relegation
  11. Ajax looked slick, passed slick and a decent team. We looked what we are, a div 1 side. Passing poor, midfield too deep for much of the game and some of our players looked unfit. That said I think Pardew has something to work with.
  12. Can I suggest you guys carry on this "discussion" in the Muppet forum please.
  13. Gets a cautious thumbs up from me. Has experience, young enough to retain ambition and drive, and bearing mind we are a Div 1 club appointing a former Premier Manager, as good as can be expected.
  14. Now 6/4 on
  15. On this one Tony Adams is not among the favourites. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/southampton-specials/next-permanent-manager
  16. I don't. Duncan's source on these matters is very good. Things can change but so far events seem to be supporting his sources information.
  17. Whilst I am worried that time is not on our side if we are going to hit the ground running on the opening day of the season, I am encouraged that our new owner and his management team are not going to make a rash and uninformed decision. There are plenty of options and it looks like they are going to make sure they get the right person for the job in hand. All this talk of possible offers being turned down and who is favourite for the job is pure speculation. I suggest they will be taking advice from respected parts of the industry, sounding out candidates, looking at past records, considering coaching and leadership skills and only then drawing up a short list of prospective managers to interview. This has to be about a long term association. We must get away from the ever changing managerial position by getting back our stability and family culture.
  18. I am with GM on this. It had to be said in my opinion and providing we can now all move on, the die hards and the boycotters, and unite in the present and future there is nothing wrong with his post.
  19. This is where I got it from http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/southampton-specials/next-permanent-manager Strange?
  20. I can only find odds on Sky at present set at: Gordon Strachan 7/4 Steve Coppell 7/2 Darren Ferguson 20 Alan Pardew 20 K Keegan 25 Matt Le Tissier 25 Tony Adams 25 Where are posters getting Adams as Fav?
  21. Much better post than the last one on this subject John. It is all about family values and I agree with your opinion on the probable way forward.
  22. Had not read that Phil and thanks for putting it on this thread. Good post Sue
  23. No, I know nothing, just my opinion
  24. Best, Law, Charlton and Kidd were all class in that era. Mind you we were not a bad side either. Nice to see the highlightes again. We used to call Sydenham the "road runner" for those who remember the cartoon of that era. You are right though WC different game now but that can be said about most sports.
  25. Saints is his first choice at present.
