  1. No definately Ken Jones
  2. Really, a Burnley side who are 3rd in the form table at present? Good players do not only score goals they also make goals for others. None of the three come near to our front 3! Ours have 11 the three "targets" have 3 Poor sides or not our three would get in ahead of these players. I appreciate we need another forward, particularly with Barnard injury problems but as impact players only in my opinion
  3. Lambert has 9 in the league, Do Prado & Connolly 5 Lallana 4 Our suggested targets Maynard 4, Rodriguez 3, Sharp 2. So our front 3 all have a better record than our supposed targets who are the "stars" of their respective teams. One of the 3 would be a good impact player perhaps but no more than that in my opinion!
  4. Jolly Sailor was not Weston!!
  5. Crown Prosecution Service are satisfied the man used "reasonable force" when he pushed the footballer and accept he acted in self defence. Police also rule out any action against Seaborne over the incident adding that there was no counter allegations lodged by the suspect and he had not been harmed. Looks like a blue line has been drawn!
  6. Dawson returns to UK as he could not hack the lifestyle. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/15459519.stm
  7. I consider the point is that this competition gives clubs a chance to give their fringe players a competative game to develop their talent, keep them interested and gain match fitness. It gives the coaches an opportunity to assess such players and the manager a chance to try different systems in competative format. Ticketing prices across the competition reflect the weaker sides starting. For those supporters who go to these matches, they know we are going to field a weaker side but it gives them a chance to see other players in the team and assess their form and potential. Lower gates at all games reflect this (apart from the staggering 50,000+ at Arsenal last evening). I made a decision before the season started I would not attend Carling cup matches but I certainly do not think they are a waste of time. Disappointed we are out of the competition but glad we did not risk potential injuries to key players by full match exposure when we have two important home games in the next seven days.
  8. Lallana has suffered an injury to the arch of his foot. Scan does not show any major injury and it looks to be a short term problem. He had the same for 3 games last season but carried on with pain killing injections. Barnard said last Tuesday that he expected to be back in training in a week. It is an ankle injury which he has had since last season and it keeps re occurring.
  9. I agree with your assessment.
  10. Good news. Thanks I know he was devistated he could not play against West Ham.
  11. Glenn Delve to leave his Rose Bowl Managing Director position but to remain a consultant to completion of the development of the Hotel and Golf Course. Nigel Gray, Head Groundsman to be Hampshire CC benificiary for 2012 as reward for 22 years service Shahid Afridi signed as our additional overseas player for the T20. Neil McKenzie offered another contract to return but has indicated he may only be available for a couple of months due to family commitments. Simon Jones (signed for 2 years by Glamorgan) joins first teamers Cork and Pothas as leavers. Dawson playing for Mountaineers in Zimbabwe scores an unbeaten 1st class century and takes 7 second innings wickets (but is still on the losing side) Updated news regularly found here http://www.rosebowlplc.com/
  12. Of course there will be the odd seats vacant. It was not a utter and complete sell out. The capacity of SMS is 32689. That is 500+ empty seats
  13. No. Murray was ranked No 2 on 17th August 2009
  14. BBC report An inspired performance from Derby goalkeeper Frank Fielding earned his side a point against npower Championship leaders Southampton. He made a string of saves before being beaten by Rickie Lambert - who fired in low from the edge of the box. Lambert's 11th goal of the season cancelled out Theo Robinson's opener, which came after just three minutes. The former Millwall striker reacted quickest after Kelvin Davies could only parry a shot from Ben Davies. Derby, who were beaten 4-0 at Leicester in their last outing, started brightly but their early goal sprung the visitors into life. Guly do Prado fired narrowly over before forcing Fielding into his first real save. Jose Fonte did beat the goalkeeper just before the break but Steve Davies was on hand to head over his own crossbar. In the second half, Fielding saved well from an 18-yard strike from Lambert before the former Bristol Rovers striker did find the target.
  15. No more than was reported on here by another poster, Bill. Should see his father on Tuesday at the game.
  16. 60% possession 9 shots on to their 7 6 off to their 4 Suggests we controlled much of the game so it could be seen as two points dropped BUT Derby have had nearly as good a start as us. Were 3rd on merit and will be disappointed they did not take all three 3 points as well. Overall, a good result for us which maintains our position at the top. Tuesday will be a good test.
  17. If they had charged £50 too much you would have gone back to the shop like a shot. Double standards = dishonesty. It is a form of theft.
  18. Very Sad, Spoke to him to the Rose Bowl in 2010 when he came down with the Uni side. Pleasant man who told me how, in his early years he was asked to play club cricket in South Africa. Walked out to bowl and found the team he was playing against had a number of SA test players including G Pollock. He was a great admirer of Malcolm Marshall
  19. He is not fit, he has hardly trained, he says. The club is right to say no! He has baggage as well if some of the stories before he left are correct.
  20. The past does not win us games. The future is uncertain. It is those who are here now, who are working to make sure we achieve something now that are important. We all like the romance of the past when times were good. We all shudder at the horror of when times were bad. The here and now can affect the future but it cannot change the past.
  21. Click on reply on the index and it only takes seconds. Take an inward look at yourself. I will not be continuing this debate
  22. Bloody hell, there are 3 threads on Cortese and Hypo has the most posts on each! Talk about "verbal" s.h.i.t
  23. I do not in any way share docker_p's views but he is not the writer of the article and he makes it very clear it is a copy and paste. We might not like what it says but it is written by the leader of that forum. There may be an agenda, who knows, but to say it needs to be deleted is wrong. If the moderators think it is just another Cortese thread they cam always merge it with the other threads! I might be seeing one of the exsaints next month. I might chat to him about these allegations.
  24. One thing is for sure, this ongoing war of words is damaging the club publically. It may not affect the players, management or the way we play and the results we get on the field but it will make corporate sponsorship think and it may turn some loyal MLT supporters away affecting income at the club. If the club read this, can I urge they ask Mr Cortese to offer to take Matt out for a private lunch to discuss the issue fully and finally. The is nothing wrong with the Clubs vision. I am sure the objectives of both are the same. The strategy for attaining those objectives might be different but such is business and life itself. MLT is a past hero on the field. He now has influence in the media. He needs to be a friend of the club not just a supporter. That is not to say he should be given any role or influence nor benefits any more that others who have had a role in the clubs history. Just have him supporting all aspects of the club he clearly loves but, perhaps, has misguided perceptions.
