  1. As far as I am aware, Lallana was fully over his injury today
  2. We are looking to sign a forward and a wide right player in January
  3. "Bart is outstanding in training and I have so much confidence in him. He has had to wait a long time for an opportunity to play because of the outstanding form of Kelvin Davis." "Today he has had to go and perform in the arena and he will be a stronger person and a stronger character for it. We will support him and the good thing is that although there was a mistake, we didn't lose the game, so let's take the positives and build him back up." "Kelvin was close to being fit today, the game is next Sunday so we have eight days before that great game that we are all looking forward to. I'm really looking forward to it now" Adkins quotes
  4. No worries. It was not your thread that I saw first it was the BBC article on line.
  5. Made me think as well. My brother was knocked down and killed in Radstock Road, Woolston in 2001. He is on the statistics map. Brought back sad memories http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/archive/2001/09/10/Hampshire+Archive/5615210.A_FAMILY_WRECKED_BY_DRINK_DRIVER/

  7. Shocking result leaves question marks about our away form. However we are still top and this might just send the right message to Cortese and our owners that we need to splash a little cash in January to strengthen in certain areas.
  8. Football League meet next week to discuss points deduction. I think it unlikely they will make a decision at that time. Portsmouth are able to operate as a separate entity with sufficient cash until the end of the year so they are solvent. Saints position was different as they, as far as I am aware, did not have any cash to act outside of the parent business in Administration. The decision will likely be deferred until the turn of the year but with requests to see the books in the meantime to determine the "going concern" situation. That is my opinion. The problem with them is that I cannot see a buyer coming forward in time so a new year point deduction looks on the cards. I have many good honest friends who are season ticket holders so I would not like to see them go out of business. Would I like them a few divisions below us? You bet I would.
  9. Will be interesting to see the line up today with Lambert missing through injury. Connelly is still not fit I assume and Barnard is not yet match fit.
  10. When I took my voluntary redundancy/retirement in 2003 with a major international blue chip plc it was a non contributory final salary pension based on 40/60th's . They had made a slight mistake with my notice which would have taken me into 2004 so they gave me an ex gratia amount to cover salary, bonus, pension contribution by the company to put that right. The pension contribution from the company into the fund was 25% of my salary! Just after I left they closed the final salary to new employees and existing staff had to pay 5% contribution. Last year they closed the final salary scheme to all employees and limited their contribution to any new scheme. That seems to be the way all companies in the private sector are going. There are major changes going on so it is only right that the public sector changes in pension follow, if not so harsh as the private. If you work for the state to serve the community you deserve a reward but it has to be relative to the private sector But as UP says in his opening post, what is going to happen to the younger generation when they reach retirement age? It will be a major strain on the welfare state which will not be able to cope.
  11. Just to update on Lallana. A few weeks ago I was told he is still carrying that arch of foot injury. It is one of those injuries that does not stop you playing but needs time to fully resolve. He is limited in training to try to manage and that might account for his less than 100%
  12. Agree with this. that is the lack of balance my friend commented on. He posts on here as Derry
  13. We lacked energy and passion in the first half and it was no surprise when a well organised and passing Hull took the lead. Two friends either side of me at half time - one said for the first time this season he was worried we would not get it back in the second half - other said we lacked the balance some one like Chaplow gave us. De Ridder on for the second half and we seemed to up our passing game. Great win against a good side. Not worried about West Ham. Automatic promotion is what we want and them beating teams just below both of us has to be a good thing.
  14. First half pretty even with neither side penetrating. Second half, particularly after the sending off we played arrogant football. Irony of the day came when Guly replaced and Brighton player complained he was walking off too slowly!
  15. Lithuanian nationalizes Snoras Bank amid suspicion of widespread fraud, money laundering http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/industries/lithuanian-nationalizes-snoras-bank-amid-suspicion-of-widespread-fraud-money-laundering/2011/11/17/gIQAVB3tTN_story.html
  16. An interesting quote from the pedg link The U.K.’s Financial Services Authority denied Snoras permission to operate in Britain because the bank’s executives withheld information, calling the tactic “an ongoing pattern of behavior by institutions controlled by Mr. Antonov” in a February 2009 statement.
  17. Never ask for top tips on a football forum
  18. And we did not owe the tax man anything so the public purse was not robbed.
  19. Empty vessels make most noise The colour should provide a clue
  20. We are at or near the top of the curve. We much make sure we try to climb to new heights and we must therefore re visit our business plan and set new challenging targets. We should not be looking for cover. We should look to bring in players (in some of the positions) that are better than what we have. The players they replace will be our cover.
  21. Have to say that is so sad. My thoughts are with him at this time particularly his wife Jade. Football fades to insignificance.
  22. Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif found guilty of conspiracy to cheat and conspiracy to accept corrupt payments. To be sentenced on Thursday and face a maximum of 8 years! Mohammad Amir pleaded guilty to all charges before trial started but that had to be kept from the jury. Sends out a massive message.
  23. These are the home games I missed the last two seasons because they fell on the first Tuesday and I was unavailable. They are the only home league games I have missed in the last 2 years. 1st Dec 2009 Wycombe - Won 1-0 2nd Feb 2010 Huddersfield - Won 5-0 2nd Nov 2010 Dagenham - Won 4-0 8th March 2011 Yeovil - Won 3-0 (I know 2nd Tuesday but I had an important meeting that night as well!) 5th April 2011 Charlton - Won 2-0 You guessed it, will not be there tonight.
  24. Don't know but not Weston.
