Guly does have his weaknesses, and many of them, but his goals and assists put him as one of the top strikers in the division. If his allround game was as good as his scoring/assist he would be playing for one of the top 5 and regularly featuring for Brazil. I would have him in my side every week. Something Adkins seems to agree with. Agree with Derry's comments above as well. Hoiveldt was majestic and as ever read the game very well. Schneiderlin had one of his best games and if he can continue in that mode week after week we will all be purring rather than frustrated criticism. Lallana has definately lost a bit in the last few weeks but he has class and his form will return. De Ridder gave us something different, the pace we lack when Chaplow is missing. Think he was trying too hard at times. Lambert held the line well and although he did not score following a great save in the first half his reputation went before him. An important cogg in todays win Palace looked a decent side lacking that final penetration but credit to our whole defence.

Cheers Rob. Wonder where that photo is now!!

Hi Si, will get in touch in the new year and work out a game when we can meet up. Might even be able to drag Ziggy off her sofa or the posh area. Happy Christmas Si and Kate and all the others who we used to get together with or exchange views

Ziggy, the question has to be....did you celebrate in the portsmouth home end when Saints scored! Enjoy your day tomorrow. Hope to meet up soon.

The "investigation" is the same that was carried out against us when our parent company went into Administration. Glad to see FL consistency.

January will see us trying to get a striker and a wide right player. Cannot see us adding any more than that. January is not the best time to inflate the squad. No word on who they might be but I understand Adkins has his targets.

The decision was made in a full council meeting. It is subject to, among other things, that Rosebowl plc can show they will be able to afford the rents and that they will have a long term viable business model.

Second highest scorer in the squad. Second highest assists in the squad. He does not deserve this heavy criticism. He is in the team on merit. Most of the division would be happy to have him in the team. What a fickle lot many of you are.

Who was supposed to be marking Ward? He let him have a free header. Guly came off the line and dipped out when he realised the only thing he was going to do was give away a penalty Guly has never been good at winning defensive or midfield headers. It is a weakness in his game. This must have been recognised because despite his 6' plus hight he was not used other that to defend the goal line. His mistake was he came for a ball he would likely have cleared off the line from Wards header. Not sure Guly can be blamed alone for us dropping 2 points. It was a number of defensive players who all contributed, including Guly but not exclusively Guly. Easy to blame one person for disappointments just like many did last week!

Not the French Government but the Govenor of the Bank of France. And when you look at his quoted words surely it is fair comment!

It was pretty full for the statement at 3:30pm I would say PM had an easy ride from all sides.

It looks to me as if Cameron, having made enough noises before the meeting about his protection of the London financial market, may have been out manoeuvred by an indignant French leader supported by the Germans. It will be interesting to hear Camerons explanation to the house why the veto has protected the city and the UK and the consequences and damage had he not used his veto at that time. It looks a poor decision according to many but it may not matter. If the euro continues on it's path of break up, and many still thing it will, we will have a new issue requiring new actions.

As far as I am aware, Lallana was fully over his injury today

We are looking to sign a forward and a wide right player in January

"Bart is outstanding in training and I have so much confidence in him. He has had to wait a long time for an opportunity to play because of the outstanding form of Kelvin Davis." "Today he has had to go and perform in the arena and he will be a stronger person and a stronger character for it. We will support him and the good thing is that although there was a mistake, we didn't lose the game, so let's take the positives and build him back up." "Kelvin was close to being fit today, the game is next Sunday so we have eight days before that great game that we are all looking forward to. I'm really looking forward to it now" Adkins quotes

No worries. It was not your thread that I saw first it was the BBC article on line. -

Made me think as well. My brother was knocked down and killed in Radstock Road, Woolston in 2001. He is on the statistics map. Brought back sad memories http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/archive/2001/09/10/Hampshire+Archive/5615210.A_FAMILY_WRECKED_BY_DRINK_DRIVER/ -

Doncaster 1 - 0 Saints - Post Match Reaction

Shocking result leaves question marks about our away form. However we are still top and this might just send the right message to Cortese and our owners that we need to splash a little cash in January to strengthen in certain areas. -
Football League meet next week to discuss points deduction. I think it unlikely they will make a decision at that time. Portsmouth are able to operate as a separate entity with sufficient cash until the end of the year so they are solvent. Saints position was different as they, as far as I am aware, did not have any cash to act outside of the parent business in Administration. The decision will likely be deferred until the turn of the year but with requests to see the books in the meantime to determine the "going concern" situation. That is my opinion. The problem with them is that I cannot see a buyer coming forward in time so a new year point deduction looks on the cards. I have many good honest friends who are season ticket holders so I would not like to see them go out of business. Would I like them a few divisions below us? You bet I would.

Will be interesting to see the line up today with Lambert missing through injury. Connelly is still not fit I assume and Barnard is not yet match fit.

When I took my voluntary redundancy/retirement in 2003 with a major international blue chip plc it was a non contributory final salary pension based on 40/60th's . They had made a slight mistake with my notice which would have taken me into 2004 so they gave me an ex gratia amount to cover salary, bonus, pension contribution by the company to put that right. The pension contribution from the company into the fund was 25% of my salary! Just after I left they closed the final salary to new employees and existing staff had to pay 5% contribution. Last year they closed the final salary scheme to all employees and limited their contribution to any new scheme. That seems to be the way all companies in the private sector are going. There are major changes going on so it is only right that the public sector changes in pension follow, if not so harsh as the private. If you work for the state to serve the community you deserve a reward but it has to be relative to the private sector But as UP says in his opening post, what is going to happen to the younger generation when they reach retirement age? It will be a major strain on the welfare state which will not be able to cope.

Just to update on Lallana. A few weeks ago I was told he is still carrying that arch of foot injury. It is one of those injuries that does not stop you playing but needs time to fully resolve. He is limited in training to try to manage and that might account for his less than 100%

Agree with this. that is the lack of balance my friend commented on. He posts on here as Derry
