  1. BBC report An inspired performance from Derby goalkeeper Frank Fielding earned his side a point against npower Championship leaders Southampton. He made a string of saves before being beaten by Rickie Lambert - who fired in low from the edge of the box. Lambert's 11th goal of the season cancelled out Theo Robinson's opener, which came after just three minutes. The former Millwall striker reacted quickest after Kelvin Davies could only parry a shot from Ben Davies. Derby, who were beaten 4-0 at Leicester in their last outing, started brightly but their early goal sprung the visitors into life. Guly do Prado fired narrowly over before forcing Fielding into his first real save. Jose Fonte did beat the goalkeeper just before the break but Steve Davies was on hand to head over his own crossbar. In the second half, Fielding saved well from an 18-yard strike from Lambert before the former Bristol Rovers striker did find the target.
  2. No more than was reported on here by another poster, Bill. Should see his father on Tuesday at the game.
  3. 60% possession 9 shots on to their 7 6 off to their 4 Suggests we controlled much of the game so it could be seen as two points dropped BUT Derby have had nearly as good a start as us. Were 3rd on merit and will be disappointed they did not take all three 3 points as well. Overall, a good result for us which maintains our position at the top. Tuesday will be a good test.
  4. If they had charged £50 too much you would have gone back to the shop like a shot. Double standards = dishonesty. It is a form of theft.
  5. Very Sad, Spoke to him to the Rose Bowl in 2010 when he came down with the Uni side. Pleasant man who told me how, in his early years he was asked to play club cricket in South Africa. Walked out to bowl and found the team he was playing against had a number of SA test players including G Pollock. He was a great admirer of Malcolm Marshall
  6. He is not fit, he has hardly trained, he says. The club is right to say no! He has baggage as well if some of the stories before he left are correct.
  7. The past does not win us games. The future is uncertain. It is those who are here now, who are working to make sure we achieve something now that are important. We all like the romance of the past when times were good. We all shudder at the horror of when times were bad. The here and now can affect the future but it cannot change the past.
  8. Click on reply on the index and it only takes seconds. Take an inward look at yourself. I will not be continuing this debate
  9. Bloody hell, there are 3 threads on Cortese and Hypo has the most posts on each! Talk about "verbal" s.h.i.t
  10. I do not in any way share docker_p's views but he is not the writer of the article and he makes it very clear it is a copy and paste. We might not like what it says but it is written by the leader of that forum. There may be an agenda, who knows, but to say it needs to be deleted is wrong. If the moderators think it is just another Cortese thread they cam always merge it with the other threads! I might be seeing one of the exsaints next month. I might chat to him about these allegations.
  11. One thing is for sure, this ongoing war of words is damaging the club publically. It may not affect the players, management or the way we play and the results we get on the field but it will make corporate sponsorship think and it may turn some loyal MLT supporters away affecting income at the club. If the club read this, can I urge they ask Mr Cortese to offer to take Matt out for a private lunch to discuss the issue fully and finally. The is nothing wrong with the Clubs vision. I am sure the objectives of both are the same. The strategy for attaining those objectives might be different but such is business and life itself. MLT is a past hero on the field. He now has influence in the media. He needs to be a friend of the club not just a supporter. That is not to say he should be given any role or influence nor benefits any more that others who have had a role in the clubs history. Just have him supporting all aspects of the club he clearly loves but, perhaps, has misguided perceptions.
  12. We have come out of this very poor. We have the following 2012 West Indies plus South Africa IOD 2013 Australia & New Zealand IOD plus Australia T20 2014 India Test Match 2015 New Zealand plus Australia IOD 2016 Pakistan IOD plus SL T20 We are too neat to London!
  13. Cardiff get Ashes test in 2015 ahead of Rose Bowl. We miss out on 2013 Ashes Test as well although that is less surprising!
  14. He still has an ankle problem. Gets himself back to training and suffers again putting hims recovery back.
  15. I think you are getting a chip on your shoulder because you fell into the over 60 under 65 change and decided not to renew. I know many many others who were similarly affected but did renew and are enjoying what is being served up. As someone has already stated, it was a Sunday 3pm and that will have affected supporters decisions, particularly those who are not season ticket holders. Incidently we are 3rd in the table of Championship attendances. Not bad for a club you think might be suffering from over pricing!
  16. I am going to be careful and not comment on our coach at this time. He will be here next season and under enormous pressure. Balcombe is a strange one. He was in contention but everytime he got near he got an injury. When he was finally fit he could not get into our side and was sent out on loan. Played well for Kent using a different ball (they are using a different one that in the 1st Div) and took plent of wickets but came back early for treatment to an injury AGAIN and then went back for one more game and did well. If he can stay fit he will have a good future with Hampshire. No fault of the coach on this one. Dimi continues to bowl well and is still worth his place. He is still better than our other bowlers and is an ideal first change. He is blocking no one that is near to him at present. It took a little while to get inn the grove after his injury but he is now in the grove and hungry for more cricket. Wood will come in place of Cork at No 8. Ervine still is a class batsman and again he is not holding up any of our up and coming batsman at present. It is not all about pace. We have Wood, Griffiths and Tomlinson for that. Riazhuddin is a decent player but down the pecking order at present and I would like to see him loaned out next season to aid his development. Griffiths is injured again with a foot fracture and tendon damage in the same foot. He is wearing a special boot at the moment and when I spoke to him yesterday he seemed pretty down and did not look that well. Briggs is an important part of the team and Giles has said that. He will be an automatic pick next season. Jones & Ali have a year left of their agreement and Contract respectively. I will be suprised if either feature next season but let's not blame them. They have both worked tirelessly to get themselves fit when I spoke to Rod Bransgrove. Jimmy Adams is already talking about having a smaller pool next season. Apart from Katich for Lumb it looks like there is not likely to be any futher replacements. The youngsters, who have done very well and above expectations, will have to step up to the mark.
  17. No I am not a Steward. I am a member but lucky enough to have access to all. It was not a bitter Pothas. He was just answering questions. He spoke for an hour as guest speaker. I am careful not to put anything up that the club might not be happy with. I have a lot more but it is not for forums. It is face to face only and only to the descreet
  18. Steve, he flew back from SA yesterday to attend an event as guest speaker. His father is very ill at present.
  19. Pothas was who I was talking about.
  20. The situation regarding finance is held very close to the chest of the Chairman, Financial Director and Managing Director. No one can get anything out of them but from little hints I think we will come through the present "crisis" that is affecting not just us but most of the major clubs. We will have a club next season, of that I am sure.
  21. Just got back home from a spirited fight back from Hampshire. Seems Pothas has played his last game for Hampshire. Last night he complained about the lack of discipline in the side, could not understand why a captain often drove himself to games rather than be on the coach and a number of other matters. I have heard 3rd hand that Giles White just does not want to see him anymore. Dawson is absolutely devastated at our relegation. Looks like Katich will be joining us and on a separate note the Chairman could see no reason why MacKenzie should not be with us next season.
  22. 45 is my best with a few 30+
  23. Subject to weather it looks like Worcester will lose and Yorkshire will be relegated.
  24. They are made for each other!
  25. Good win to keep our hopes alive. Tahir has played his last game for us. As he is centrally contracted to South Africa and they have called him up for pre season training. Thanks Immi, what a nice guy and not a bad bowler too!
