First Gao and then these cunts. The legacy left by Markus all but gone it seems. Bizarre managerial decisions, weird team selections, comments about their not being much of a gap between the Prem and Championship, calling Goztepe a bigger club than Southampton, away fans getting preferential treatment…. Are SR just trolling us? Perhaps Solak lost a bet to his fellow countryman Mandaric.

If the club have identified their next manager then just get on with it now and sack Selles first thing in the morning. Every single one of those clowns tonight deserve to be fined a weeks wage for impersonating premier league footballers. Can’t wait till they all (hopefully) fuck off out of this club.

Typical

All too easy. Game set and match. Fuck off Saints.
-
Illness apparently, unless he’s kicked off with Selles at half time. At least Lyanco brings the passion I guess.
-
We’re playing like we’re comfortably mid table with an on the beach mentality, it’s absolutely dreadful. All those relegation battles of past were built on passion, hard work and belief, this is atrocious.
-
This is so FUCKING SHIT!!!! Honestly has a side in a relegation battle ever looked so scared to battle? Insipid, boring, rubbish.
-
All gone a bit quiet. Bournemouth are gonna catch us on the break soon

Seen those given, which highlights the inconsistency of VAR!!! Absolutely pissing down out there, need to just fucking shoot and see if we get lucky with the wet surface.

The 2005 relegation came on my 20th birthday, so like most I had only ever known saints to be a top flight side, and I vividly remember the roller coaster of that season. That relegation hurt so much because there were so many occasions where we were minutes from a win, or some really good performances that gave us hope. The Norwich game is still one of, if not the loudest I’ve ever heard St Mary’s. Even to go 1-0 up on the final day gave us all hope. I remember the excitement the signing of Camara bought, as well as the form of Crouch. It was the defence that let us down. This season though I’ve been resigned to it for a long time. Probably since Forest at home. No such exciting performances as in 05, no players that bring the hope of that year. It’s just been death by a thousand cuts.
-
Hence the gradual lack of investment part. Just because we spent a bit this season doesn’t disguise the fact that the lack of investment under Gao is still costing us. Half the match day squad is made up of cheap players signed under his watch, and most of the signings of SR can’t even get in the side.
-
I’m not sure it’s entirely down to the decisions of this season to be fair, it’s been a few years in the making. Gradual lack of investment in the squad, the need to find the next young talent we can make a profit on rather than sign older experienced players as it’s not “The Southampton Way” bullshit, purple patches of form papering over the cracks, poor management decisions and so on and so forth. We’re lucky that the fates aligned and we were able to bring in a striker like Ings who was beyond the ability level of a club our size, but needed us as much as we needed him to recover his form following injuries otherwise this relegation would have happened a long time ago. It’s why I’ve made my peace with going down, because this has been on the cards for a long time and the whole club needs a reset as with so many teams before us, particularly the playing and coaching squads. Time for the powers that be to drop this We March On, Bold is Brave PR bullshit and just focus on rebuilding the club.

Really intrigued as to who is going down with us. Every time it seems another side is as dead and buried as us they pull off a result. Would like it to be Everton for the financial implosion of the club and the crying from the dugout pioneers. A Bournemouth win tomorrow will guarantee survival for them surely.

Away to Plymouth on a Friday night live on Sky to start the season for us I reckon!

Draw Villa win Draw

Saw one of their fans on Twitter the other day claim the reason they haven’t been promoted still is that they’re too big for League 1, and the players can’t handle the pressure to sustain a good run. They really are a special breed of stupid.
-
Why is St James Park so quiet? They’re 5-0 up ffs!!?
-
I’m happy to admit when I'm wrong 🤣 I’m sure I saw a proper name given last year to the day when it’s mathematically confirmed the skates will be in a league below us next season.
-
One of the reasons last night didn’t hurt more despite a result I’d have taken before the match is the fact I have zero faith in this side to follow it up in a game against a lesser team, the real games that matter. Feel like Selles will set us up to not lose rather than to win, and we’ll likely fuck it up.
-
True, but being 3-1 up in the 87th minute is us in control. A good side would have seen out the game.
-
On the train waiting to leave Waterloo, absolutely gutted. What a way to throw away a win. So fucking similar to the heartbreak or Arsenal away in 04/05. Selles fucked us taking off Lavia. So naive, what was he thinking, we were in control.

Relegation - What two teams do we take with us
bpsaint replied to Lee On Solent Saint's topic in The Saints
Isn’t it mental just how bad Everton, Leicester, and Leeds have been this season, and yet we’re worse than all of them. This season has really been a clusterfuck, you could write a book there’s been that many wtf decisions. Are Everton really in that much trouble financially? Even though it would make them favourites to win the league if they dropped is still fucking love to see it happen, all those Scouse Skates crying on MOTD. To think they had Ancelotti in charge not long ago talking about looking forward to managing the side into their new stadium 😂 -
Fortunate enough to be sat in the corporates for this alongside another saints fan, an Arsenal fan, and a skate. I have zero expectations other than large amounts of free beer, and at least a 4-0 home win. I’d resigned myself to relegation already, but the going down without a fight is what I find most unforgivable.

Every email to that address probably gets marked as spam and deleted straight away such is their disdain for us.
