Keegan linked to Saints takeover

Former Southampton chairman Leon Crouch has refused to comment on speculation suggesting that Kevin Keegan may make a sensational return to the club.

Local newspaper reports have linked the relegated League One club with their former star player of the early 1980s.

Current boss Mark Wotte's contract runs out on 30 June, and he is due to clarify his position with the club's intended new owners on Friday. But Crouch's Pinnacle group insist Keegan has not had a formal approach.

Never heard it referred to as "Crouch's Pinnacle Group" before....I for one would welcome Crouch back on board.

I don't have a problem with Leon having a place on the new Board. After all, if it wasn't for him injecting some cash into the club, we'd be out of existence by now. Not to mention the fact that he's a Saint through and through. Admittedly a clean sweep would be ideal, but if anyone was going to remain then I'm glad it's Crouch.

Wottes contract runs out on 30th June.

Didnt realise that .... :)

Happy days.

That's definitely a piece of shoddy journalism, so I wouldn't go putting too much stock in any of the "facts" therein.

Apart from the fact it's true

If you believe the OS, specifically what Wotte said, his contract with the club as "a coach" continues whether he is manager or not.

He was most explicit about that. He is a Saints employee on July 1st even if he's not the "Head Coach" - unless he gets bought out.

Here we go : Rolling contract and can continue as Academy Director : paragraph beginning "my own future is not so important..." ironically enough.

It's a bit of a long commute from Egypt though

Yeah, I see it, we're saying the same thing. Except the article at the top says "Mark Wotte's Contract runs out on June 30th".

No it doesn't. Mark Wotte ceases being Head Coach then, he's still got a contract. So it isn't true.

Well if you had read the posts, you would have seen before you chipped in that we had established that it was in relation to the managers position.............. therefore "Mark Wotte's Contract runs out on June 30th". was infact true ;)

So, when does his actual contract run out?

Me neither. Not my idea of a great Chairman or CEO, but at least he admitted his mistakes and put his money where his mouth was to bail Saints out when they needed it. Happy for him to be involved in some capacity.

On a similar note, I wonder if McMenemy will get anything under the new regime? Club President maybe, or perhaps just his picture back up in the boardroom!
