RedAndWhite91 Posted 28 June, 2009 Share Posted 28 June, 2009 This morning at work I read in one of the Sunday tabloids that Morgan Schneiderlin could be on his way to Fulham for around £1.5 million. It said something about Hodgson wanting him and that the deal could be done next week. Sorry I can't be more specific than this.

Bailey Posted 28 June, 2009 Share Posted 28 June, 2009 Never understand why people are so quick to slate Schneiderlin. He'll turn out to be a good, Premiership midfielder in the future. Fulham would be getting a good deal for £1.5m, and he'll be worth much more than that in a few years time if he leaves and starts playing regularly. I find it quite funny how so many on here criticise Morgan, and yet a number of Premiership sides are rumoured to be interested in him. Clearly they are seeing something in MS that a large percentage of fans on here can't. Oh, and may I just say how nice it is to have a football related thread. St Chalet Posted 28 June, 2009 Share Posted 28 June, 2009 I agree, last season was no time to judge him - playing in a poor in-experienced side. With a few older heads around and a few wins I think we would have seen a better player.
saint_stevo Posted 28 June, 2009 Share Posted 28 June, 2009 He would fit in well at Fulham, and i could see him as a long term replacement to Jimmy Bullard, just running less perhaps

Colinjb Posted 28 June, 2009 Share Posted 28 June, 2009 His potential (in terms of ability and financial value) matters not right now. If all goes f*ck up over the next few days his potential value and ability could mean nothing, right now his cash value can ensure we have a club to support next season..... THAT is what matters right now.

Totallt agree, though he would never be any good in the CCC or lower I believe that he will be a solid player in a good footballing side in a few years, all these people that slate (though granted he never shined for us) obvioulsy can't see a footballer, perhaps they wondered why we were playing some kid called Le Tissier back in the late eighties! Rasiak-9- Posted 28 June, 2009 Share Posted 28 June, 2009 Well he'll naturally want to leave and we're in no position to be too fussy. 1.5 millions about right I think and he certainly wouldn't be particularly useful in League 1 - good player don't get me wrong but he needs better players around him to be of any great effect. Don't worry, the same people on hear will be wailing and gnashing their teeth when he turns out to be a decent Prem player - which he could well do. I think he was bought with a view for selling on to make money. Good luck to him.

Chez Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 as much as I chastised him last season for only making 5 tackles in total I still can see the potential in him and would like him to stay. People have to remember his age before writing him off. I have to laugh at all those that think he would be better at a higher level. Quality players will shine more in the lower league not less - you have MORE time not less the lower you go down the leagues.
Bad Wolf Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 Also says- "Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies is set to seal a £1.75million double swoop for David McGoldrick and Paul Anderson. " I know we already knew they were after him but just pointing out that it says "set to seal" which usually means almost done

I agree Terry Paine was outstanding in Div 2 so much so that he got in to the World Cup Squad so was Chivers too - both at a young age. Thats why I would have thought that Surman Schenderlin and Lallana should have performed better last season and our failure were not fully down to the coaches but the players too

I totally agree with you, I just cannot fathom it. If anything, he suffered from being TOO GOOD for the Championship and without doubt, he will prove that when he becomes a full French international at some point. ottery st mary Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 Exactly he looked very promising to begin with, I think it was when he realised what he'd got himself into that he lost interest and played crap. Also his injuries didn't help. That was at Exeter when he started at centre back and swapped with Wotton when Saints staff realised he was out of his depth..Could not head the ball or tackle...His positional play was also very poor...Back in midfield all those mentioned attributes were still missing but if given space and time he could pass...ABOUT TWICE straight to the opposition...At the time benefit of the doubt as he was young and Exeter sussed him early on and rattled him... Obviously there is something there:rolleyes: but about the same as many other 18/19 young pros who also make National age groups....And then disappear. The problem last season was clearly evident, like many other young players he should have been learning his trade with some good coachs...Saints first team under JP/Wotte and Rupes was not that learning envoriment. Hopefully for him with French U/20 group he has that coaching and not all is lost......He needs to be placed at the right club or he will end up like a lot of other hasbeen players.... Personally I am not so sure he is up to it...Saw other past and present young players at Saints as good and in some cases much better. At the time WASTE of money...IF Saints RECOUP SOME MONEY OR GET PROFIT...YEAH..GREAT...but LOOK AT THE COST WHEN WE WERE PLAYING HIM ALL THOSE GAMES.....nOT GOOD ENOUGH.:smt093
