Stepgar Posted 8 July, 2009 Share Posted 8 July, 2009 The euphoria around the place is unbelievable. Congratulations to every Saints fan across the globe. Here comes the red and white machines!! Le god, there will always be a place for you. We will need a football man on the board, who better to fill the role.
Toadhall Saint Posted 8 July, 2009 Share Posted 8 July, 2009 We will need a football man on the board - the Ted Bates role. Great news! Needs to stop soon or I'll get a nose bleed! :-)

chrisobee Posted 8 July, 2009 Share Posted 8 July, 2009 This whole day is almost like a daydream, I'm wondering if I've been in front of my PC so much I've lost touch with reality ! Great to hear that Oldnow is going to speak to Matty at least, I would have thought he'd be ideal in some sort of ambassadorial role. I liked the quote from Andy Oldnow: "Matt's fantastic. He's been brilliant and nothing but first-class in terms of his engagement with me. " Hear hear to that.
Leslie Charteris Posted 8 July, 2009 Share Posted 8 July, 2009 Here's perhaps the most important things he said on SSN: "(The future holds) stability. We will be making appropriate finances available to make us competitive at this level. "Subsequently, as we go forward, we will be reviewing those finances. We're not going to get carried away. So no splashing the cash, just enough to bring success at whatever level. Sounds good to me, very good, in fact. The future looks bright, the future looks red and white... :-)

Rob the Saint Posted 8 July, 2009 Share Posted 8 July, 2009 MLT for President ? That would be a fitting tribute and one that Ted Bates would have approved of.
Webby Posted 8 July, 2009 Share Posted 8 July, 2009 Ambassador role I would imagine. It sounds like Matt is committed to another season with Sky Sports now. I'm not bothered either way really. He's a playing legend in my eyes and always will be. He doesn't need to be involved with the club permanently imo.

Gemmel Posted 8 July, 2009 Share Posted 8 July, 2009 I saw the full AO interview early on and he basically said they will speak to MLT for his thoughts but not for a job. The sky reporter pushed him on it saying it would be the populist choice and AO said that was irrelevant as they would be running it as a business. Nineteen Canteen Posted 8 July, 2009 Share Posted 8 July, 2009 Maybe Oldknow is just playing the game. How would it work bringing someone in who was planning to get rid of the manager that our new owner wants to work with. If MLT came in on the football side I can't see how that relationship with him and Wotte would work and neither can I see MLT being happy with a meet and greet type role. Neil Posted 8 July, 2009 Share Posted 8 July, 2009 Doesn't really matter what his title is, just basically a bit ambassadorial / PR type role, and he can fit it in around the Sky Sports stuff if he wants. Legend, and will definitely pep up the goodwill which will be skyhigh soon...

My fellow posters it is a pleasure to spend this time with you after so very very much heartache and pain. I simply cannot believe I am happier now than I was when we were in the premiership. Nineteen Canteen Posted 8 July, 2009 Share Posted 8 July, 2009 would that be a swiss role? No because that would be 2 l's. The cake is made by preparing a thin layer of sponge and spreading a filling of your choice usually jam and a fondant cream over the sponge and then 'roll'ing the cake before placing in oven.
