thorpie the sinner Posted 9 July, 2009 Share Posted 9 July, 2009 will the club still have to publish accounts or is it purely down to Markus what he spends!! I personally hope we get back to running the club properly and getting the spirit back!! If we get some bargains on the way who want to play well for the club, fantastic!! I would settle for attractive winning football!!
thegaffer Posted 9 July, 2009 Author Share Posted 9 July, 2009 does anyone else feel like a kid in a sweet shop???? :smt026 I am so happy for my two boys 22 & 20 I have witnessed fantastic times with Saints most of my life and the thought that they would miss out in their twentys having exciting times with Saints upset me to say the least. I felt like they had been cheated and I was feeling guilty. Now thanks to ML I know that what I witnessed with Saints over the last 40 odd years will be eclipsed and we will see Saints challenging for honours on a regular basis and also we will never have to sell our star players for survival. Oh happy days:)

INFLUENCED.COM Posted 9 July, 2009 Share Posted 9 July, 2009 I'm cautious about Wotte buying players for this league, I will assume ML is going to put someone in place as an advisor for any purchases, do we still have scouts ?
Prince Jazzbo Posted 9 July, 2009 Share Posted 9 July, 2009 Who will want to come to a club managed by an unknown, who has ever heard of Wotte. A name and then you are talking about good players being interested in coming to Saints I actually think that he has started to put his face around a bit i.e. on Talksport, he seems to be on Sky quite a bit. So I would hardley describe him as unknown. Also, if we're honest its not always the manager that attracts players to a club the lure of the greenbacks is a pretty good incentive these days. Ian the Red Posted 9 July, 2009 Share Posted 9 July, 2009 Let's face most players 99.99% are only interested in money. If we offer the best L1 players the going rate plus 5-7% most will take it in this league. We only need to team to get us out of L1. We will need another to get out of the fizzy pop league and anotehr to stay in the Prem. It will take time, but expect big a turn over of the players.... You misunderstand what I say I fully expect us to get back to the Premiership but at the moment it is impossible to challenge the top four . Thats all The days when non top four teams regularly challenge for honours on a regular basis is virtually over. Look at Spurs Aston Villa Newcastle lots of money spent but to little avail
Wade Garrett Posted 9 July, 2009 Share Posted 9 July, 2009 You misunderstand what I say I fully expect us to get back to the Premiership but at the moment it is impossible to challenge the top four . Thats all The days when non top four teams regularly challenge for honours on a regular basis is virtually over. Look at Spurs Aston Villa Newcastle lots of money spent but to little avail I don't believe that. Villa were only a couple of players away from top 4 this season. Arsenal are struggling to keep up financially, and the situation at Liverpool is precarious to say the least. Man City will be up there challenging very soon and Spurs will continue to improve. Chelsea and Man Utd don't have the monopoly on Europe's best players anymore. I think these things work in cycle. I don't see a top 4 dominating the league in years to come. Personally, I would love a Premier League that was on a more level playing field.
