Poll: Who would you not want to be manager?

Gordon Strachan or Kevin Keegan

Who'd have thought you'd choose the two people that the majority of people would want as manager, it's not like you to go against popular opinion NC :)

I'd be interested to hear your reasons for these two being the managers you'd least like as manager.

Already done so elsewhere, seek and you shall find. The only person to disagree with me when I last looked was Robbie so that should tell you all you need to know if my concerns could be considered genuine. Anyway, this thread is just an exercise of putting the X in the box.

Clearly if you look at the poll as to who people 'would' want as manager (as I know you have) you'd see it's obvious the majority of people disagree with you. GS is by far the most popular choice of who'd we'd want, but don't let a user poll get in the way of your wind-up ;)

Anyhew, this thread is about who we don't want, so I won't digress further about who we do want. We'll see who else backs up your choices on the no thanks!

Yes, can be. Any other reasons?

I don't like it when managers walk away from a club when there appears little need for them to do so. Unless I fully understood those reasons I personally could not recruit that person. Keegan admitted he fell out of love with the game after Man C and didn't watch a game for 3 years allegedly. How do we know Coppell has not got to that stage? Who else walked from a club that at the time was difficult to understand and in the process started that club's decline to league 1 via a whole hosts of disasters?

Waiting ??

Unfortunately, the name I immediately thought of fell by the wayside today as he signed a new contract and it's the same name I was talking about last season. Darren Ferguson.

Like Oldknow I think we should establish the criteria for manager and past managers of this club need not apply to fit in with the new era concept.

So a manager who fits Ferguson's profile would be good. Young, ambitious, proven success in this League 1 or above (rules out Tisdale) and preferably someone currently employed in the game but not critical if they are well regarded.

Depends on the budget but Steve Cotterill had a lot of success in this league but if money is no object then that could actually be a bad thing as we need someone hungry and ambitious.

lol the two best managers on offer and 19 Canteen strikes. You are a Sk8 or Lowe its just mad!!! lol!

Mad because I don't assess someone on just their name or past glories? Both have a proven record of walking away finding it difficult to produce that difficult second album after their first successful period.

Not for me thanks, both are a tad to self-important IMO.

Ok,

have to 100% agree with this actually as it was what i was thinking, would love to see fergie JR here, plus gain the loans he probably could steal. Shame that the contract has happened.

I however believe Tisdale would be a good signing. Young bloke, full of optimism. Commitment.

Calm your jets, if you ask politely I always reply but it will always be a considered one than the reponses from a certain kneejerker who is jumping on every thread at the moment acting like some deranged Hyena that has eaten to much fermented fruit. Hopefully, it will be bedtime soon.

Pearson = Young

Pearson = Ambitious

Pearson = Proven success in League 1

Pearson = Currently employed

... and your man fired him.

Not than I am suggesting that we go for him now, but you and "your lot" were only too happy to see the back of him. Now you want a carbon copy....you couldn't make it up.

I am struggling to think who that is aimed at ??

If we went the Tisdale route as a 'suitable profile' then I would prefer to go with Nigel Clough as another manager who cut his teeth in the conference. L eague 2 last season didn't look that difficult and whilst Tisdale did well it remains to be seen how he copes this year - bit too risky for me I'm afraid. Clough though had a disappointing finish but steered Derby comfortably to safety and was able to manage a loose cannon like Savage so no shrinking violet despite his outward appearance.

Can we see Derby letting him go, NO! Drawing up the profile is one thing finding someone that fits it and is available or can be persuaded along with their club is another thing entirely.

What about S****horpe's manager? Nigel Atkins? (not sure if I have his name exactly right)

Walking away from your mate Rupert will hardly be seen (in most fans eyes) as a downside for WGS ! (much as you would like it to be!).

No reason to go though IMO and who said history won't repeat itself. This appointment is critical and we need to recuit someone who is going to be part of the club's rebuilding programme and willing to stick around for however long that takes say 5 years?

No one wants to be pleading with the manager to stay everytime the going gets a bit choppy or a sniff of another job comes along.
