ozzmeister Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 Not sure if this has been posted yet but just checked the OS and the team for today is: Davies, Murty, Perry, Thomas, Harding, Lallana, Wooton, Gillet, Mills, Patterson, John Subs - Bart, Lancaster, James, Gobern, Rasiak Would this be a reflection of what we can expect for the season start? Happy with defence and forward line but not sure about midfield - looks quite liught weight? What do people think, would you make any changes? RobM Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 As expected probably need CB Striker 2 Midfielders Couldn't agree more. Thomas is a big lump of a guy, but lacks pace and I'm not convinced about his positioning and movement. Good option for cover though. Midfield needs some creativity and somebody to generate attack and movement. Attack needs experience and pace. Could be worse though. We also need some quality in reserve as if we lose any of our starting line up, we have no quality to replace them with.
Saintjersey Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 Holmes and Schenderlin missing I wouldn't put them in the starting line up. Only change I may make would be James for Wotton.

Happy with defence and forward line but not sure about midfield - looks quite liught weight? What do people think, would you make any changes? From those available today I would have had James starting vice either Wotton or Lallana (probably the former). If all of our current players were available I would have had Morgan starting vice Wotton and James starting vice Lallana (presuming, of course, this is a 4-4-2 and Adam is at RM). For the future we definitely need: (at least 1) new CB (even seeing Lancashire on the subs bench fills me with dread) to start vice Perry so he can replace Lancashire on the bench; a new CM (to replace Wotton); and a new fwd (vice Peterson). A good, fast, beats his man, able to deliver a good cross, RM would also be nice.
L1Minus10 Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 Best side from what we have I think, assuming Saga is offski. Would like to see a new striker to play with John, a new LM (not Holmes - waste of space) and two new CM's before season starts.

John B Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 Perhaps he has GOAL 1-0 Saints take the lead as Adam Lallana picks up the ball from 25 yards out and unleashes a low shot which arrows into the bottom left corner for the first Saints goal of the Alan Pardew era. Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 give us run down at half time if poss ta Alright first half, few lovely expansive moves one leading to Mills ghosting in and missing an open goal. Goal was nice, long ball up to John who held it up, Lallana in off the right flank, across goal about 20 yards out, left foot into bottom corner, good goal. Mills also taken down when straight through, about 3 inches outside the box. Apart from that we've looked steady. Gillett industrious as ever. Mills has looked outstanding for me, very exciting. Defence has done what's needed of them.

saints_is_the_south Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 to be fair, we were playing Ajax last weekend Whilst i agree Ajax are better than Hearts there isn't much difference between the Eredivise & the SPL i wouldn't have thought so a test against opposition of similar quality.
