spyinthesky Posted 4 August, 2009 Share Posted 4 August, 2009 Scores winner for Blackpool against Everton tonight in pre season friendly Arguably would have done an OK job for us in L1 but at a vastly reduced wage!!
Wiltshire Saint Posted 4 August, 2009 Share Posted 4 August, 2009 If only we had kept him! I am sure he would have been great for us. What with his track record of goal scoring for saints and all that. I am, of course, being sarcastic. Why do people have this obsession of looking at ex players and as soon as they score thinking they could have been great for us? Whatever...he's gone...we'll get some new players, it's no big deal. he didn't seem to do a lot for us when he was here. What is the point you are making? Explain yourself and explain it before I go to bed.
dickyhale Posted 4 August, 2009 Share Posted 4 August, 2009 (edited) He had the choice of Southampton or Blackpool and chose Blackpool. Personal glad he's gone as he was a VERY highly payed player. Edited 4 August, 2009 by dickyhale

Bailey Posted 4 August, 2009 Share Posted 4 August, 2009 I think I'm right in saying that Euell has now scored more goals in pre-season for Blackpool than he did during his entire Saints career!

sidthesquid Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 prob be played where he wants to and thus scoring? Er... he played centre-forward for 20+ games last season - that's usually quite a good position to score goals from. FWIW I really hope Jason does well there, but I'm still glad he's not at SMS any more. Capel Saint Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 Maybe Euell has settled well at Blackpool which can make all the difference to good or bad performances. Still, these are pre-season rather than league games. It will be interesting to see if he scores so many in the CCC. At least we have a squad who want to play for Saints......well almost, barring our Polish striking contingent!

There are many players out there who will fit better with our new 'clean slate' approach !!
The9 Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 There's a Euell article in FourFourTwo magazine this month (the "Season Starts Here" one with Arshavin on the cover) that was written before he left and amongst other things explains how little the players knew about what was going on. No massively shocking claims but an interesting read... as is the Season Preview thing on Saints which has us finishing 19th, two pics of the team playing Wolves last season (you'd think we wear red shorts from the pictures) and with Paul Wotton as our key player. FWIW When Saturday Comes in their preview has us finishing somewhere around 16th based on the usual "other fans in the division vote for promoted and relegated teams" - we were on 0 Promotion votes and 3 relegation ones. :smt103

obelisk Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 I seem to remember Euell having quite a few goal scoring opportunities last season but his finishing was dreadful. Maybe the goals are wider up north.

The Godfather Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 Euell can do what he likes in pre-season at another club, he's got the ideal manager in Ian Hollaway who gets the best out of untalented players. Another relegation battle on the horizon for Mr Mule. Lets move on.
Arizona Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 Euell has long been part of the problem at Saints and it was in the best interests of both parties that he moved on. Yes he may be scoring in a few preseason friendlies, but he sure as heck didn't do it whilst he was here. 5 goals in 2 years and more than 50 appearances. Not good.
