Arizona Posted 8 August, 2009 Share Posted 8 August, 2009 Hope he can play soon We treated him like absolute dirt No, the Lowe regime, which now has absolutely no connection to SFC (and I'm still not tired of saying that ) treated him like dirt. Stern John used Saints staff and facilities to get fit whilst he found a new club, under the pretence that he was after a new contract here. One he clearly had no intention of signing. Having said that, I don't wish a broken arm on him.
saint_stevo Posted 8 August, 2009 Share Posted 8 August, 2009 Wrong decision for him and now is the fair result. Idiotic logic. AlfredKo Posted 8 August, 2009 Share Posted 8 August, 2009 Idiotic logic. We farmed him out/didnt play him last season, he owed us nothing and was given the opportunity to play for a decent Championship side ********!!!! I know we were extremely harsh on him last season but that was Rupert 's decision. Now we have the new owner and he was being offered a contract. He knows we deparately need a high quality centre forward. Which team offer him a trial at the begining of the pre-season? Who said that he want to earn a contract and play for Saints? If we know that he will not sign for us, will we offer him trial to enhence fitness? Is not about loyal or not loyal, is about what you have mentioned to all of audience on this planet. I seem to remember you saying footballers are perfectly entitled to look after their own interests , or does that only apply to players you happen to like ? SJ did not "use Saints staff and facilities", he was offered a contract by us when he was a free agent, got a better one from CP (supposedly) made an informed decision based on weighing up the 2 offers and decided to move on. There was no pretence or shady dealing. He was treated like **** by SFC, whether that was down to Lowe or not is immaterial, fact is he was, the fact that he even considered staying with us after being shunted around after being our top goalscorer and making the difference the previous season between staying and going down, actually speaks volumes for the man. Having said that, I don't wish injurieson anyone, but I did raise a little smile thinking more about the thoughts of Warnock when it happened. The fact that, according to AP he kept putting off agreeing the deal SFC put to him with excuses about his agent and an illness in his agents family etc suggests he DID use SFC as the only reason he kept putting off signing was in the hope another club would come in for him. Warnock failed to sign the striker he was after (was it Craig Beattie ? ) and so he came back for his second or third choice, a couple of weeks after evidently deciding he could get better. Stern John used us as his fall back in case nothing else came along. Fair enough, and good luck to him, but he did use us at the end of the day and probably hindered the process of getting a new centre forward in as, up to the Hearts game, it was pretty obvious that AP was going to employ him as his first choice striker. ALWAYS_SFC Posted 9 August, 2009 Share Posted 9 August, 2009 He's gone: deal with it: move on. Absolutely..time to move on without some idiotic pleasure being taken from departing players injury... Better offer came along simple as that, would many stay on in existing jobs if better job with better pay came along.....????....honestly? Unless of course people will do it to all leaving players even the "one of our own" that Surman was meant to be... Nah!! thought not.

Sorry, but the fact that it was Lowe is completely relevant. You say he was treated like sh*t by SFC. Then what is SFC? To me it would be the stadium, the fans, the training facilities, the city, the players, the coaches, the manager, the and the boardroom. I think it's fairly safe to assume the stadium and training facilities haven't offended him and I don't think any players (Tin Man aside) have had an issue with Southampton as a city. The fans were always supportive and the coaches just do their job on the training ground. That leaves the manager and the board, both of which are gone now so he has no reason to hate SFC. If he does have beef with Saints, he's a f**kin' idiot and he'd do well to read that paragraph. RE: His reasons for leaving, read this interview: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_5474516,00.html More specifically: "I told them I wanted to stay but they never sorted out a deal properly" Now, he knew when he came back to Saints we were in a precarious financial possition with the takeover. We offered him a contract as soon as we could and he comes out with that bullsh*t. He claimed he was keen to stay, but clearly we were just a fallback option incase he couldn't get a move to the CCC. I have no problem with players wanting to play in a higher League. It's the coming back and lying, wasting everyone's time. Time which could have been spent trying to sign another striker, so we would've had a replacement for Pato yesterday.

VectisSaint Posted 9 August, 2009 Share Posted 9 August, 2009 Sorry, but the fact that it was Lowe is completely relevant. You say he was treated like sh*t by SFC. Then what is SFC? SFC were his employers. Whether thats Lowe, Wilde, Liebherr or Crouch is largely irrelevant. When you are treated like **** by your employer it takes a lot to make you forgive and forget, whoever takes over. Get over it, SJ is gone, no great problem. I liked him, better in my opinion than Rasiak, and will be grateful to him for the goals he scored that kept us up, but will not hold a grudge like some small minded people. This is the age of the profesional footballer, no loyalty, but so what , we reap what we sow. He was treated like **** by his employers (like lots of us are) and found a better deal. He did not "use" us, we used him.
LostBoys Posted 9 August, 2009 Share Posted 9 August, 2009 I accept he used us and fed the club a load of rubbish about delays in signing while he waited for another offer and that repaid us for farming him out but he was a free agent. Thats football. A broken arm is not normally career threatening and he will be back unless he lets his fitness go. I am sorry for Neil Warnock - plums I am. I'm not particularly bothered that he is gone, but I'm just not under the illusion that we owe John something.
