PaulSaint Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 It is said that a strong spine down the centre of the team makes for a successful side. Well potentially for us its Kelvin, Jaidi?, New Midfield signing? and Lambert? Who de want this Midfielder to be & if we dont sign Jaidi or anybody fro the mddle then who de have already that can make the spine strong? converted_saint Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 Somebody in the Matty Holland mould. He's a bit old now I think, but someone who has his attributes and is mid 20s would do very nicely
CWD Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 schniederlin more than fills that role IMO. the CB is the priority
Iowsaintsfan Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 Id like to see a bit of a brute in Midfield, someone who gets stuck in - Robbie Savage type player though younger
brightspark Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 Agreed with poster above, don't forget Schniederlin. He will turn out to be a fantastic player this season if we keep hold of him. If we get Jaidi (hopefully... what stage are we at anyway?), then the spine of: Davis Jaidi-Thomas Schniederlin-Lallana Lambert would fit the bill fine for me. revolution saint Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 Forget the spine....Alex Ferguson has said that the basis of a good team is a good big toe and that's the right back position - we're sorted there.

West End Saint Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 I also wonder if we could get Sam Vokes on loan from Wolves I think they have had a few players in and he might be available would be great partner for Lambert
