As sad as it may seem I have been looking at the fixtures for next week working out where could be come 5.45 next Saturday. But I am afraid I overlooked one thing .Wycombe and Walsall might not let us win,so I checked some current form tables.Wycombe, although below us in the CF table, have won their last 2 games against decent opposition(Brentford and Millwall)and also did not play yesterday so have had a week off. So they are not going to come to us short of confidence.

Walsall on the other hand are 2nd in the current form table having won 4 of the last 6 games, mind you they have played some pretty poor teams.

But my point is Both these teams are on reasonably good runs and we will have to play to full potential if we want to pick up 6 points.

For all of that though, I would expect us to pick up wins against them both. No match is going to be easy but in our current form no match is unwinnable. Personally I'm feeling very confident about every match.

Don't know if we'll make the playoffs, but I'm enjoying every match day regardless. Great team, great spirit and great management throughout the club. Hard to believe this is Southampton after a torrid few years.

i expect us to beat wycombe tbh, i'll be disappointed if we don't. If we play to even half our best, we'll be too good for them.

Wallsall is a tricky one, they've got a tricky/pacey striker up top in Byfield...and i always get nervous when pace attacks our defense...

Interesting that you should say that. I was surprised to see this morning that the Mail's pools forecast has next Saturday down as a home win. The Times has us down for a draw. Walsall's record: WSWWW, Saints: WWSWW. And there was I thinking we were going to walk this league!

The only I would say about this observation is that the teams they have played are not all that hot .Oldham,Brentford,Stockport ,Stourbridge , Wycombe and Colchester(who in fact they lost to)

Wycombe are sh*t, Walsall are slightly better but still sh*t.

6 points please.

Walsall aren't a bad side, it's this attitude of lack of respect towards other clubs and expecting a win every game just because we're Southampton and USED to be a big club that annoys me. I think Wycombe could do a Brighton on us and will see we could pull out of the relegation zone if we beat them, there's no doubting it will be a close game of sorts.

Quite right DD. This is not about 'we used to be big' - this is about being wealthier and having better players than the other clubs in this league. It's also about having a winning mentality and being winners.

We have to IMPOSE ourselves on the opposition and beat them in the head, so to speak!

If we went into EVERY game expecting to win this club would have no stability and just a bunch of fans calling for every manager to be sacked after a couple of bad results causing instability, the fact is we're not Chelsea/Man Utd or Arsenal. The fans have to be realistic we're starting to build a good team and the fact remains that this season ISN'T about promotion because we started on -10 and building a new side takes time with a new manager and under a new owner.

Winning was never the norm for us in the premiership, it never was in the championship and not until next season it shouldn't be in league one because we're not as good as other sides just yet. Leeds had a bad day today but they have more quality than us, I'd say sides like Norwich look better than us, as do Colchester and Huddersfield the fact is we're not quite there yet.

As fans we should be happy that we've been saved from administration, we're building a winning side but also be patient because what this club needs is stability and this club has lacked it, we don't have a god forsaken right to be in the premiership and we have to respect the fact this is League one and when other fans chant "you're not famous anymore" they're right we're not, we don't even feel our ground and still lack 10,000 missing fans every home game. I'm on board this saints bus but lets be realistic about it rather than pessimistic whenever there's a small bump on the road.

Well my bus has been on the road for the last few seasons unlike yours which has been idle in the layby for the last few years but yes I agree with you, we should be going into every game expecting to win. :D

No cleansheets for either team in the last 14 games Saints have played. Expect that to continue.

Anything less than 4 points is unacceptable from these 2 games. A win at home against a team as rubbish as Wycombe (compared to us) should be a formality. A bit nervous about it though...

By that mark, you can also say that if you sets your sights low, your aiming for failure!

We are a big fish in a small pond and we need the team to project an aura of that, so that other teams respect that, and fear the team we have out on the pitch.

I agree we don't have an automatic right to win just because of where we have come from, but we should be winning the majority of our games convincingly, with the 1st team we have for this division, which will then breed that fear in the oppo's, fear that comes from our teams ability and graft. I expect this to be the case after Pardews January transfer dealings, we have to have that winning mentality before the end of this season, especially if we are looking for at least an automatic promotion place at the end of next season. The bonus will be, if that winning mentality and fear that it breeds, leads us to promotion this season rather than next.

As for not filling the ground, that will change in the new year if we get that winning mentality, and once the economy recovers some stabiity and people are not either in fear of losing their jobs, or have the fear of spending money on a luxury item like going to footie rather than keeping it just in case.

That's probably what you thought about Brighton... But you're right it should be a formality. And I'm a bit nervous about it too. Would actually prefer 1-0 to 4-1 bizarrely. Bvgger the goal difference, I just want a clean sheet.
