Big John Posted 15 January, 2010 Share Posted 15 January, 2010 Who would you prefer to see in a Saints shirt? Jackson = 10 goals (cup tied x 2) Holt = 16 goals (cup tied x 2)
hypochondriac Posted 15 January, 2010 Share Posted 15 January, 2010 We will never get Holt. What a strange question. I want Jackson.
niceandfriendly Posted 15 January, 2010 Share Posted 15 January, 2010 We'd never get Holt but wouldn't want him anyway. Poor mans Rickie Lambert.
Matthew Le God Posted 15 January, 2010 Share Posted 15 January, 2010 Barnard vs Jackson would have been a better question. Not in a million years will Grant Holt be a Saints player by February. He is too similar to Lambert, Norwich will likely go up to the Championship and Norwich will not sell him. What made you choose Holt for this? I dreamt that both Narwich and Gillinam were skint.
Matthew Le God Posted 15 January, 2010 Share Posted 15 January, 2010 Yeah silly me, why would we want 2 Lamberts, he's crap, right! You are missing the point about them being too similar. If Holt came to Saints he'd expect to start, a team with Holt and Lambert in wouldn't work. They both need someone to do the running for them. They are both target men and would get in each others way. Also why would Holt leave a team that is 2nd and has an excellent chance of promotion, to move to Saints who "may" make the playoffs? Also why would Norwich sell him to a rival? Yes they have money problems, but they aren't urgent and certainly would be helped by selling their top scorer. Saints foreva Posted 15 January, 2010 Share Posted 15 January, 2010 After seeing Holt twice this season I wouldn't want that little girl anywhere near St Marys as a Saints player.

Rebel Posted 15 January, 2010 Share Posted 15 January, 2010 I'd rather take Pitman from Bournemouth and Tyson from Forest. Pitman would be a great back-up to Lambert as they are similar sort of players - both big second strikers - and I think he would be happy being a back-up in League 1 and opposed to playing in League 2. Also think like Lambert we could improve him a lot as a player. Plus he supposedly wants to join Saints. I's also like us to sign Nathan Tyson from Forest to give us that pace upfront we are badly lacking. He's proven at this level - and would work well with Lambert/Pitman or Connolly. Jackson and Beckford will both end up playing in the Championship or Premier League by the end of January! Vokes on loan would be the icing on the cake - would give us another option upfront - a proper old fashioned centre forward - he wants to play for us or so we are told - he's young and will get better - and he can play with Pitman as proven at Bournemouth! SNSUN Posted 15 January, 2010 Share Posted 15 January, 2010 We're more likely to raise George Best from the dead and play him than sign Holt. I've been mightily impressed with Holt, but he is very much a player in the mold of Lambert, a fighter with an eye for goal. I'd rather have Lambo, but had we signed Holt instead I wouldn't've been too disappointed. Jackson would be the better signing for us, a player that can compliment Lambert, and give Connolly that all important rest.
